This was the most disgusting hotel I've EVER stayed in. Broken down vehicles in the parking lot, garbage everywhere, a truck canopy laying in front of the front desk along with a junky old ping pong table. The rooms were absolutely gross. Dated and dirty

Location and breakfast included
The rooms were renovated in 2024 and it definitely shows. The bed, desk, etc were all in great shape and benefitted from being refreshed. The bathroom was redone, but it's on the smaller side, so it's more practical than impressive.
The rooms were funky with the floor lights. Like the fact that the bathroom sink was outside the bathroom/shower area.

Lady at the front was very kind. The room was dated and dirty and not cleaned properly. In the morning I was congested, I am allergic to dust and the place I guess was dusty. The carpets were dirty and there was pet hair and paper on the couch.

Top Tips
- Book hotels 8-12 weeks ahead for summer (July-August) stays, as rates commonly run 40-100% above shoulder-season prices. High occupancy is especially frequent during wine festival or summer event weekends in Kelowna; monitor flexible cancellation policies if your plans may change.
- Factor in multiple accommodation taxes; total add-ons commonly approach the mid-teens percent of the room rate, including 5% GST and a Municipal & Regional District Tax (MRDT) up to 3%. Final price is shown at checkout at most major hotel chains, and guests can ask for a breakdown at reception or use the official hotel invoice for travel reimbursement.
- Choose hotels in Pandosy or Lower Mission areas, typically a 6-12 minute drive (2-4 km) from downtown, to find rates often 10-30% cheaper in shoulder seasons. These neighborhoods offer proximity to Okanagan Lake, beach access, and local cafes; verify public transit options if not driving.
- Check parking fees before booking, as downtown hotels commonly charge CAD $15 to $30 per night for self-parking. Inquire if parking is included in your rate package or loyalty benefits, and request details on accessible parking if needed.
- Plan for 10-25 minute drives from downtown to most central wineries (West Kelowna, Quails’ Gate, Mission Hill), factoring in an extra 5-15 minutes across the William R. Bennett Bridge during peak periods. Schedule tastings well in advance during high season and check if your hotel offers shuttle service to select wineries.
- Expect standard Canadian tipping norms: 15-20% for food service, and CAD $2 to $5 per bag for bell or porter service. Some restaurants may include a service charge for larger groups, shown on the bill; confirm with your hotel about their tipping policy for in-room service.
- Carry a refillable bottle, as Kelowna municipal tap water is treated and drinkable; many hotels provide water refill stations and offer information on water restrictions at check-in. Guests with accessibility needs should confirm if water stations have step-free access.
- Remove valuables or lock them in the trunk when parking at popular outdoor spots like Knox Mountain or Okanagan Lake beaches, as vehicle break-ins have been reported. Use hotel-provided safe deposit boxes for valuables and check with staff for current security updates.
- Allow 18-25 minutes off-peak for transfers from Kelowna International Airport (YLW) to downtown, a distance of about 13-16 km, with taxi or rideshare typically costing CAD $30 to $45 one way. Many hotels offer pre-booked shuttle or airport pick-up services; for accessible vehicles with ramp access, confirm availability when booking.
