The inside pool is something we really like about this hotel, but the second time we went in the water was so hot it was on the verge of uncomfortable. It was as hot if not hotter then the jacuzzi. Not sure what happened with the temperature.
The hotel was conveniently located for us. The room and staff were perfect for a two-night stay. The breakfast plus the free 24 hour coffee, tea, and hot chocolate bar were terrific. The buffet will soon be limited.

Location near joint replacement clinic
Hotel employee greeted us at front desk & he was amazing, helpful, personable our entire stay. Food was cold so we ate in our room w/microwave. Everything else was marvalous
The bed was probably the softest I¿ve ever slept in along with the pillows. It was like sleeping on clouds. Very much needed after a long drive. Breakfast was great. Staff was friendly. And the pool and hot tub was so much fun for me and the family.

Location and indoor pool which I didn't use.
It's the cheapest room in Lompoc. As such they have no incentive to improve the condition of the motel - at least I had hot water in my shower today. But it was too hot and couldn't be adjusted. Exterior doors to stairs don't open w room keys.
The price. It represents great value for Lompoc.

Top Tips
- Book hotels in Santa Maria 45-60 days in advance to access rates typically 12-18% lower than last-minute options. Target midweek stays (Sunday-Thursday) for availability and average nightly rates between $129 and $159. Use chain loyalty platforms to compare special promotions if eligible.
- Select properties within 0.5 miles of Highway 101 for stable LTE and Wi-Fi, as these corridors have 95% coverage. If staying farther, especially west of Broad Street, confirm signal strength with the hotel prior to arrival to avoid connectivity challenges.
- Plan for Santa Maria's combined 12.75% hotel occupancy tax (10% city plus 2.75% state), among the highest in San Luis Obispo County. Note: Tax applies regardless of length of stay, including bookings over 30 nights.
- When using foreign credit or debit cards, opt to pay in US dollars to avoid 4-7% surcharges from Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC). Ask at check-in if you’re unsure which payment method is being processed.
- For quieter rooms, request upper floors at hotels near Grand Avenue (examples: Best Western, Holiday Inn Express). These locations see noise complaints rise 18-22% on ground floors during weekends due to increased traffic from Foxen Canyon Wine Trail visitors.
- Most hotels (90%) include on-site parking at no extra charge, confirm this when booking. Avoid overnight downtown street parking, as SLO County Sheriff enforces a $325 towing fee for cars left after 2 AM.
- Free Wi-Fi is available at 78% of Santa Maria hotels, but median download speeds average 32 Mbps. If you plan to telework, request business-level Wi-Fi to ensure upload speeds above 10 Mbps.
- Discover fresher hydration by requesting in-room filtered water pitchers, available at 40% of Santa Maria hotels. The area’s tap water has 185 ppm hardness and may taste different due to chloramine treatment.
- Tip housekeeping $15 per night, placed in an envelope daily. This practice aligns with Central Coast hotel etiquette and helps you receive attentive room service during your stay.
- For comfortable summer stays with average highs of 84°F, prioritize hotels with central HVAC systems, which keep noise below 48 dB, quieter than the 55-62 dB typical for window units. Confirm HVAC type when booking if sensitivity to noise is important.
- If you need step-free or roll-in access, contact the hotel directly to verify room features. Only 35% of Santa Maria hotels are fully ADA-compliant, and third-party website filters can misreport accessibility 40% of the time.
- Rates surge 30-50% and availability drops below 15% during the Santa Maria Valley BBQ Festival (second Saturday in May). If attending, book at least five months ahead; otherwise, avoid the festival window for lower rates within 3 miles of event grounds.
