It was tucked away and very quiet area. Back patio was small but overlooked a wooded area with a stream. Now the wooded area was fenced off, it wasnt an area to hike. The other side of the property had a beautiful grassed area with a pond.

Location and views. It’s a little outside the main shopping and dining area, which is what we wanted, yet walkable. We had a room with a balcony facing the rock formations, one evening there were thunderstorms and we saw an incredible lightning show.
Friendly staff and adequate room. Excellent proximity to areas of interest. The outdoor patio area with a giant chess board adjacent to the creek provided for a pleasant experience.
We loved the view from the pool area of the hotel, the hot tub, and the location.

I loved that the hotel was in Oak Creek, near to Sedona but not in the middle of all the hoopla. I also loved that my room looked out on Castle Rock and that it was within walking distance from Bell Rock.

Big beautiful pool and courtyard! Location is perfect: just two minutes into the center of Sedona's busy main street of shops and services -- but just far enough to the edge of it to feel more tranquil. Good small bistro is convenient in handsome lobby.

People were helpful. The lobby was not great and had to use the restroom as my room was not ready and it was very dirty. Breakfast we did not take advantage of because the setup was over crowded and very much ¿dated¿.
The bed was hard and sucken in, in the middle of the bed. Didn't get any sleep due to people fighting in their room and making their car alarm go off all night.

Top Tips
- Book 60-90 days in advance to secure hotel rates 15-30% lower than typical last-minute prices during peak travel months (March-May, September-November). Rates otherwise increase 25-40% as arrival approaches, and booking early helps you secure accessible rooms or specific preferences.
- Add 13.96% to any quoted hotel rate for Sedona’s combined lodging taxes (3.7% county, 2.6% city, 7.66% Arizona transaction privilege tax), as these are usually not included in initial online booking prices. You can review the tax breakdown on your booking page or request a receipt at check-in for clarity.
- Choose Uptown Sedona along the SR-89A corridor to experience up to 40% shorter Verde-area shuttle wait times (averaging 8 minutes) and walk to 7 of the 10 top-rated restaurants within 0.5 miles. Most major hotel chains have locations in Uptown for added convenience.
- Request a north-facing room to reduce afternoon heat exposure. South- and west-facing views of the red rocks can raise outdoor temperatures by 8-12°F and lead to increased AC use; room orientation assignment is subject to availability at check-in.
- Select to pay in USD at hotel kiosks to avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fees, which can add 3-7% to your total bill. Double-check the payment screen or ask the front desk if you are unsure.
- Verify advertised Wi-Fi speeds before booking if you need reliable internet for remote work, as median 'high-speed' Wi-Fi in Sedona hotels averages 12-18 Mbps. Only 22% of properties provide the 25+ Mbps needed for video calls; contact the hotel if connectivity is critical.
- Use ATMs at Desert Financial (Uptown) or Wells Fargo (SR-89A) to avoid resort ATM surcharges, which typically exceed $15. These banks usually charge about $2.50 USD per transaction, and most major hotels widely accept credit and debit cards.
- Skip bottled water; Sedona tap water meets EPA safety standards and 90% of hotels offer water bottle refill stations. Ask hotel staff for refill station locations if needed.
- Plan to tip staff 0-15% at full-service resorts (including housekeeping), which is lower than the US average due to local base wages of $18-22 per hour. Tipping remains appreciated for exceptional service.
- Explicitly request step-free access if needed, as only 11% of Sedona hotels meet full ADA Title III standards for step-free entry, roll-in showers, and compliant door widths. Call ahead to confirm accessible features before booking.
- Avoid paying premiums for red rock views in July-August, as cloud cover during monsoon season obscures the scenery 60-70% of afternoons, potentially negating the value of $15 per night upgrades. Consider alternative preferences such as a balcony or extra space if views are not critical.
- Prioritize hotels with SRP or Green Globe certification (such as L’Auberge) for water conservation, as these properties use 30-40% less water and are especially valuable during May-June drought periods. These certifications are typically listed on hotel websites or available upon request.
