The location of the hotel was great as it was just a 2 - 3 minute walk from the nearby subway station. There were also a few convenience stores within walking distance, including a 7-11 location on the same street as the hotel, right next to the subway.

This hotel was a great deal for the price. Rooms were bigger than average for Japan, had all the amenities that are expected and even though it's on a busy street, one couldn't hear any noise. Highly recommended

The room was clean, and the location is great?walkable to drinks (coffee), food, and shopping. The hotel's restaurant was very good. There is a bakery/cafe in the lobby. They have a rooftop eating area, but it was too cold & raining, so we did not use it.

Top Tips
- Secure Kyoto hotel reservations 3–6 months in advance during peak seasons, such as cherry blossom (late March–early April) and autumn foliage (mid-November). Rates can increase by 30–100%, and room availability becomes very limited. Confirm your preferred dates early to access broader accommodation choices.
- Budget for Kyoto’s city accommodation tax, applied per person per night (¥200–¥1,000, or approx. $1.30–$6.60 USD). This charge may be collected at check-in, even if your online booking listed 'tax included.' Request a detailed receipt for clarity.
- Consider hotels near Kyoto Station for savings of 10–30% compared to Gion or Higashiyama areas. These locations offer direct JR line connections, enabling efficient travel across the city and to nearby regions.
- Traditional ryokans often enforce earlier check-in and meal deadlines, and arrivals after 20:00 may forfeit dinner. Plan your travel to arrive by 18:00–19:00, and contact your property directly for any adjustments.
- During busy seasons, coin lockers at Kyoto Station (¥400–¥800, approx. $2.60–$5.30 USD) fill quickly. If you have large luggage, use luggage forwarding services (¥1,500–¥3,000 per suitcase, approx. $9.80–$19.60 USD) to reduce congestion and improve mobility.
- Carry cash when staying at small inns or shopping near temples, as many vendors do not accept cards. Access 24/7 international ATMs at 7-Eleven, and choose to be charged in JPY to avoid extra currency conversion fees.
- Accessible rooms in Kyoto, notably in traditional machiya or ryokan, are limited. Reserve at least 4 weeks in advance during busy periods and request written confirmation of step-free access or specific accessibility needs.
- Most hotels provide reliable power (100V, Type A plugs). Older machiya may have few outlets or lack USB ports, so bring a multi-charger and adapter for all devices, especially if working remotely.
- Hotel Wi-Fi averages 20–50 Mbps in mainstream city locations, supporting video calls and streaming. Smaller ryokans may have slower or less stable connections, so confirm actual speed if reliable connectivity is essential.
- Japanese hotels often charge cancellation fees on a sliding scale: from 3 days before check-in (20–30%), 1 day before (50%), and 100% for no-shows. Review your booking policy before confirming.
- Tipping is not expected in Japanese hotels, and staff may politely decline cash gifts. Express thanks verbally or with a brief note, and observe quiet hours in residential areas, where noise curfews commonly begin by 22:00.
