Great location
We had a corner room which was huge. There was a seperate bedroom with large walk in shower. The living area had a wonderful curved sofa for relaxing. I have never seen a hotel room with so many closets. I will stay here again even if l have to drive far.

My room attendant Agnas, was the best thing about this hotel. She came by everyday to tidy up my room and check to see if I needed anything. She was the only friendly, attentive staff I met at the hotel.

I slept well. Sound proof walls and the staff was great.
The location and the cleaning staff. We had two young kids who had a few stuffed animals they brought along on our trip. The person who cleaned the room fixed the pull out bed and arranged the animals on the bed so nicely. Our girls were thrilled.
Amenities were good. Breakfast was busy and staff did their best to keep the good coming. Staff was very nice.

Where to stay in Markham
Learn about the top neighbourhoods of Markham
Stretching from the beloved Allan Gardens and Ryerson University to the waterfront, this southeast downtown Toronto area is home to Old Town, which dates back to Toronto's beginnings in the early 19th century. Popular amongst shoppers and art lovers, the area is home to cobblestone streets, the sprawling foodie-friendly St. Lawrence Market, the major transportation hub known as Union Station and the popular Eaton Centre shopping and dining destination.
Located just south of the University of Toronto campus, this exciting area is home to world-class arts and entertainment venues, an array of restaurants and nightlife and a number of sports facilities both above ground and underground. Cheer on the Toronto Blue Jays and Argonauts at the Rogers Centre or the Maple Leafs, Raptors and Rock at the nearby Air Canada Centre. Visitors can explore the breathtaking PATH, or Torontos Underground City, a 16-mile retail and shopping concourse underneath the financial core, with connecting office towers, hotels and public transport.
About 20 miles north of Downtown Toronto, the historic city of Markham is easily reached via Highway 404. It's a city proud of its past, and many of its 19th-century homes have been preserved as part of the Markham Museum. A number of international corporations, including Apple, Motorola, Toshiba and Honeywell, have their Canadian headquarters in and around the area. About 23 miles southwest is Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Top Tips
- Confirm your final hotel price includes Ontario’s 13% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST); it’s added to the base rate and appears on your folio. Ontario hotels must collect the 13% HST, which is non-negotiable and required by law.
- Plan commercial flights from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) or Billy Bishop (YTZ); Buttonville (Markham) has no scheduled passenger service. Double-check airline codes and airport addresses when booking to avoid airport mix-ups.
- Use Highway 407 (toll) for faster trips to Pearson; expect tolls of CA$6-15 (approx. $4-11 USD) one-way, saving 10-20 minutes compared to the 401/404. Some rental car companies offer automated toll devices, or ask about transponder compatibility for the 407.
- Explore over 120 dining options within a 2 km radius of Markham Centre and enjoy direct access to Viva/YRT rapid transit routes and shopping. Hotels along Highway 7 offer convenient links to restaurants and transit.
- Allow 30-40 minutes for off-peak GO train rides from Unionville or Markham stations to Toronto Union Station. Most GO stations in the area offer step-free access and visual information boards, but confirm schedule times before travel.
- Many suburban Markham hotels offer free self-parking; check if covered, secured, EV charging, or accessible parking spots are required, as these may incur extra fees or need advance notice.
- Request a room away from Highway 7 or Highway 404 to reduce traffic noise, especially during rush hours (06:30-09:00 and 16:00-18:30). Guests with sensory sensitivities or light sleepers may benefit from higher floors or interior-facing locations.
- Drink Markham’s municipal tap water; it meets provincial safety standards, so buying bottled water for basic use is unnecessary. If you have health concerns, confirm water quality with hotel staff.
- Book hotels 2-6 weeks in advance for the Markham Fair (early September), as this annual event increases local hotel demand and rates. Attendees should ask about group rates or special shuttle packages, since chain hotels may offer event-specific deals.
