The owner was very pleasant and accommodating. After politely asking the owner,he switched my room from 2nd floor to 1st because my knees hurt when climbing stairs, since there is no elevator. Thank you kindly!!
Check in was super easy and the staff was great and room was clean.
I read mixed reviews on the hotel so was unsure what we would experience upon arrival, but was satisfied with the room, the breakfast, the location and the staff. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean.

Obvious that they've spent some money updating the motel. Room was very nice, and the large pool and hot tub were great. Pool is large enough for some laps. Room rate was excellent. Stayed somewhere else in the past, but thuis will be our go to motel
The location was excellent. We booked because of the snow storm moving in. It was located next door to the Fireside Theater. We ate at an delicious Irish Pub in town. Would definitely recommend it.

Top Tips
- Book 6 to 8 weeks in advance for UW–Whitewater event weekends to capture baseline pricing. Local hotel rates typically rise 35-50% during home football games and commencement, from $99-$139 USD standard rates to $179+ USD event rates. Cancellation policies may vary during event periods, so verify terms when booking.
- Avoid dynamic pricing at I-94 corridor motels by choosing fixed-rate independent hotels. Chain hotels along I-94 often add 18-22% dynamic price premiums on event days. Confirm cancellation or refund policies, as they may differ between independents and chains.
- Request a room at the back of the property for a 10-15 dB noise reduction. Front-facing motel units on S. Main St (Hwy 12) register 55-60 dBA at night, while rear units drop to 45 dBA.
- Consider UW–Whitewater summer guest housing for stays of 7 or more days. University housing offers furnished rooms from $65 USD per night (hotel average: $110+), including Wi-Fi and shared kitchen access. Check for booking requirements or eligibility, especially for non-students.
- Confirm if your motel’s nightly rate includes Wisconsin’s 5.5% state tax plus 0.6% Walworth County tax (total: 6.1%). Some budget motels display rates without tax, adding about $4.80 USD per night to a $79 USD room.
- Prefer motels offering 24-hour check-in if arriving late. Sixty percent of local chains provide key drop boxes, but only 3 out of 11 independents do. Guests arriving after 22:00 should call ahead to confirm their check-in process.
- Carry a reusable water bottle. Whitewater tap water is safe to drink, but local groundwater sulfate levels reach up to 250 mg/L, which may affect taste. Most hotels provide ice and filtered water in common areas if you prefer.
- Withdraw cash at a UW–Whitewater campus ATM to avoid surcharges. On-campus ATMs charge $0, while off-campus ATMs average a $3.25 USD fee (range: $2.50-$4). Campus ATM access may be limited on weekends or outside the academic term, so check operating hours.
- Select hotels advertising Wi-Fi speeds of 50 Mbps or higher for reliable remote work. Although 72% of properties claim 'high-speed Wi-Fi,' only 38% deliver at least 50 Mbps (median: 32 Mbps). If speed is critical, verify directly with the hotel before booking.
- Tip housekeeping $2-$5 USD per day on stays of 3 or more nights. This is not standard in budget motels, but $2 per day reportedly increases the likelihood of a room refresh. Leave gratuity daily with a thank you note for staff appreciation.
- Verify step-free access by specific room type, not just at the property. Seventy percent of motels claim 'accessible,' but only four offer roll-in showers; others may only have ramps. Contact the hotel directly to confirm accessibility features and ensure your needs are met.
- Skip Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) at I-94 gas stations. Seventy-six percent of POS terminals near exit 301 prompt DCC with a 4-7% margin, so choose 'credit' (USD) to avoid this fee. Request a receipt to confirm the transaction was processed in USD.
