Big truck parking
Handicap room smelled terrible. Was offered 2 other rooms and one smelled the same and the other had a strong marijuana odor. Tenants were repairing automobiles in parking spaces. Decided to take a loss and went somewhere else.

Top Tips
- Rates for hotels near Dyess Air Force Base or around major university events (ACU, Hardin-Simmons) rise as much as 30% within 30 days of arrival. Book 30-60 days ahead to avoid last-minute sellouts, especially on fall or spring weekends. Verify event calendars and adjust stay dates for better availability.
- Hotels in Downtown Abilene are within 0.5 mi (800 m) of venues like the Convention Center and Paramount Theatre, which is ideal for walking access. For fast freeway entry or brand-name hotels, focus on the I-20 corridor, where parking is typically complimentary. Confirm whether parking fees or downtown event closures impact access during major city events.
- Abilene Regional Airport (ABI) is about 7 mi (11 km) from downtown; hotel shuttle service frequency and times vary by property and time of day. Contact your hotel directly before arrival to confirm shuttle pickup, as local rideshare or car rental may be needed after 20:00 or during event surges.
- Request a Wi-Fi speed of at least 50 Mbps down, as most national chains provide this on demand for remote work. For a quiet stay, ask for rooms above the third floor and away from I-20 traffic. Get your specific room assignment and speed confirmation in writing when booking.
- Ask staff to confirm step-free and ADA-compliant room features, such as roll-in showers or visual alarms. These vary by brand and renovation date. Major chains usually provide at least one accessible room per floor, but it's essential to secure written confirmation with details before arrival.
