Great location, and very clean
The location was very convenient and easy to get to. It is in a well lit area and walking distance from the casino.
Location is very close proximity of Casino and other area attractions. Nice outward appearance upon arrival but the smell of interior hallways and musty smell in rooms instantly takes away first impression. Breakfast staff was clean & stocked.

Location & Staff
Close to WCU.
The staff was very nice. This was our fourth stay here. We were dropping our son off at WCU. I did not expect a 4 star but little things should be addressed like room smell, hallway carpet and walls (dirty and marked up).

Top Tips
- Book hotels 6-8 or more weeks ahead for October weekend stays in Bryson City. During peak leaf season and Great Smoky Mountains Railroad excursions, occupancy can reach 95 percent and nightly rates rise 20-50 percent. Reserve early to secure a preferred location and avoid last-minute surcharges.
- Choose lodging within 0.1-0.3 miles (2-7 minutes walking) of 45 Depot St to reach the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, restaurants, and visitor services on foot, minimizing the need to drive or park downtown. Confirm walkability on hotel amenity details.
- Download offline maps and bring a fully charged power bank before heading into the Smokies, as mobile service can drop to zero along major park roads and trailheads. Hotels offering in-room charging or a business center can help keep devices ready for day trips.
- Expect cleaning and service fees between $75-$250 per stay at cabins and vacation rentals; review the itemized price breakdown when comparing to hotel bookings. Most hotels include all standard housekeeping and resort fees in the nightly rate.
- Request step-free or accessible room options when booking historic downtown hotels, as many buildings include stairs or narrow doorways. Call properties directly to verify ramp access and ADA-compliant features if you require accessibility.
- Pack clothing layers for spring and fall trips. Bryson City daytime highs average 50-65°F, with nights dropping to 30-45°F and a 20-30°F temperature swing. Many hotels loan extra blankets or will advise about local weather patterns at check-in.
- Always secure food in vehicles or hard containers and do not leave it on porches at wooded cabins. Bear activity is routine here; many hotels provide bear-safe bins to help reduce wildlife encounters by following park service guidelines.
- Ask for a recent Wi-Fi speed test (download/upload Mbps) before booking smaller motels or cabins, or check at check-in. For stable video calls, a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps is recommended. Major chain hotels usually display this at the front desk or in the guest room packet.
- Downtown Bryson City parking is generally walkable, with a few paid garage options during events. Most hotels offer complimentary on-site parking, but delays are common during festivals or peak Great Smoky Mountains Railroad departures. If attending a major event, confirm alternate parking arrangements with your hotel.
