This is a clean room it does not have breakfast but the town is minutes away, the staff is great. I stayed 2 nights. I'll stay again. The place is quite clean and safe place to stay.
Pluses for us were: dogs allowed, friendly staff, free internet, refrigerator, microwave, and low price, important when traveling on a budget! The room was dated but clean. Nice treat of hot chocolate, coffee, and tea available 7am-10pm in the office.
Good location, quiet, had a fridge.

The staff really made us feel welcome!
I'm very picky about cleanliness, and we found the room and the hotel in general, to be very well kept. Also, the staff couldn't have been nicer to us - that's very important to us too.

The motels an older version. It was clean. It had two beds, a TV and bathroom and that¿s all we needed. It worked out just fine for us. Staff was very friendly and I will return.
Nothing, the hotel had BED BUGS! There were bugs in the bathroom. The toilet didn't flush. I ended up leaving at 3am with a half dozen bed bug bites on my face. The owner is refusing to give me a refund. I rather sleep in my car than in that hotel.
The view was beautiful and is the only reason we chose to stay here

Top Tips
- Reserve your hotel 6 to 12 months in advance for stays during late May through September or major events like the Lilac Festival, as over 80% of rooms book out early. Weeknight stays typically cost 10-20% less than weekends and see fewer crowds. Verify flexible cancellation policies to adapt if plans change.
- Book ferry tickets with Arnold Line or Shepler's Ferry and mainland parking at least 4 to 6 weeks ahead, as these are the only motorized transit options to Mackinac Island. Ask your hotel about porter service, which can transfer your bags directly from the ferry dock to your room for a smoother arrival.
- Bring wheeled luggage and pack light, breathable layers, as travel is exclusively by foot, bike, or horse-drawn carriage. Main streets feature uneven cobblestone. Hotels near Main Street or the ferry dock reduce walk time by up to 15 minutes. Confirm if your hotel offers rental bikes or can arrange them.
- Budget $15 per bag for porter service and $15 per day for housekeeping, with 15-20% tipping expected at restaurants. Pedestrian etiquette: always yield to horse-drawn carriages and keep a 3 m (10 ft) distance from horses for safety.
- Smart-casual evening attire is required at the Grand Hotel after 6:30 pm, including jackets and ties for men, dresses or dress pants for women. Other venues on Mackinac Island allow resort-casual dress. Confirm dress guidelines with your chosen hotel in advance.
- Historic hotels may not have elevators, reliable Wi-Fi, or modern climate control. Properties on Mackinac Island are often over 100 years old. Before booking, confirm if accessible rooms, air conditioning, or features like visual alarms are available.
- Carry at least $15 to $50 in small bills, as some small businesses and food stands are cash-only. ATM access is limited, with only two machines on the island. Verify with your hotel if local occupancy tax (typically 6-8% of room rate) will be added to your bill.
- For top restaurants and carriage tours, reservations should be made 2 to 4 weeks in advance, especially between June and August. High season activities often sell out days ahead, so confirm bookings early.
- Pharmacies and emergency care are limited on Mackinac Island. For serious medical needs, transport to the mainland is necessary and may take over an hour. Bring all prescription medications, a basic first-aid kit, and ask your hotel to identify the closest clinic during check-in.
- For families, reserve adjoining or child-safe rooms at least two months early and check for safety measures like window locks or crib availability. Business travelers should verify hotel Wi-Fi speeds and request quiet room locations if planning calls, and allow at least 45 minutes extra for ferry transfers to mainland meetings.
