Top Tips
- Review your hotel's cancellation policy before booking, as terms range from fully flexible to non-refundable and can limit your options. During major Bay Area events, cancellation policies may tighten, so confirm flexibility for your exact travel dates and look for 'Free cancellation until 24h before check-in' where possible.
- Plan on tipping 15-20% for dining service in the United States, which comes to about $8-$10 on a $50 casual meal. Some hotel restaurants add an 18% gratuity automatically, so check your bill before adding a tip.
- Expect local lodging taxes and fees to be added to the advertised room rate. In Emeryville, local taxes add 14-16% to nightly rates; always confirm the full total with the hotel or online before reserving.
- Verify transportation options and operating schedules with your hotel's front desk on arrival. Ask about the free Emery Go-Round shuttle to BART for fast access to San Francisco, or check Amtrak schedules for regional trains.
- Ask your hotel at check-in about specific amenities, including Wi-Fi, potential parking fees, or breakfast inclusions. Parking in Emeryville often requires a daily fee of $20-$40, and you may want to ask if EV charging stations are available.
- Confirm your exact check-in and check-out times on arrival to match your travel schedule and avoid late fees. Standard check-in at Emeryville hotels is usually 15:00-16:00; ask about early check-in or late check-out and related fees.
