Hôtel Le Yachtman

Pros +

• Not much in the circumstance.
• Good location and lovely staff.
• The room in itself was good, new and clean.

Cons -

• The property is undergoing significant renovation (clad in scaffolding, bar area absent being gutted, dust everywhere, bare exposed wiring). I have photographic evidence. I feel we should been told about this situation and offered a reduction or the opportunity to book alternative accommodation. This was deliberately misleading and not acceptable. I would wish to be compensated for this lack of satisfaction. I look forward to hearing from you.
• Unfortunately the hotel was being renovated. We were only informed about this the morning of arrival. This was very disappointing. The front of the hotel was covered with a tarpaulin and work was being carried out on the main reception area.
• One of the window blinder was broken (not so great as we were at the ground floor) and the door too, it didn't close properly. There were working in progress all over the hotel, especially next to our room (I'm pretty sure I did not receive any communication about this, in advance?). Also the room was very noisy due to the bar/restaurant next to our windows. Their clients were shouting at night. It might be better to get a room at the upper floors. I can understand the staff can't control the noise, but when I reported all of the inconveniences in the morning, the receptionist seemed not really empathetic, nor very concerned about it. On the contrary, almost annoyed and just willing to collect the payment of the tax and parking spot to get rid of us. This was the most disappointing part of our stay, such a pity. Despite the room in itself, I don't think I will choose this hotel for our next stay in La Rochelle.
