Hotel Pocho

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. I wanted to book out of town, as my husband and I prefer quiet. Lovely, quiet hotel reflecting the owner’s personality. Gorgeous location with view of ocean and mountains. Excellent food, we had 2 dinners and several breakfast buffets. Homemade quiches and cakes with breakfasts, which can be eaten at the terrace tables. Marilú, the owner has fascinating collections of her grandfather’s (?) puppets and backdrops, as well as china, cats, and other memorabilia from her time in the theater. She explained some to me, but my Italian is non existent. Loved the amberjack, and chocolate soufflé with cinnamon gelato was so amazing I’m going to attempt a chocolate soufflé at home. We had a patio room, very nice to relax outside, and there were paths around. Good towels, comfortable if firm bed, typically flat European pillows. Nice sized room with a desk and a couple chairs, plenty of storage. The Sicilian red orange juice is delicious. Lovely, huge pool area and lots of outdoor space and a large indoor common room. Great staff.

The staff would make you an espresso or macchiato on request, but the brewed American style coffee available in a pot on a heating pad, which I prefer, was always burnt tasting. Plus having milk in a small pitcher for the Americans who prefer it would be nice. I asked at the bar, and always got some, but I like my coffee right away before I start dealing with people. Also, I have this complaint of several Sicilian hotels - no window or door screens, but if left open, we got flies, gnats, and mosquitoes in the room. So room got stuffy at night. I don’t see screens on most homes either, so it’s a cultural thing, and perhaps I don’t know how things are supposed to work. We tried keeping the door open with curtains closed and that was not effective. It was October, so maybe the flies were trying especially hard to get inside for the winter as they do in the fall in the U.S., and are more of a seasonal problem. A standing fan would be appreciated. Finally, the air freshener in the hall was overwhelming. We did not swim, but had purchased a swim cap at Decathlon in advance for 2 euros.

Amazing location, pure nature. The breakfast was very good, on the second morning we even had pancakes as an option. Everyone was kind and very helpful to resolve our problem with the room.

The room we got for the first night (the last at the corridor) had a huge issue. Something was making a sound just at the floor above. It was continuous rumor all night long, seemed as a big fridge or smth similar. We couldn’t sleep at all. Also the small emergency lamp was very bright and creating a distraction in the dark room.I have to say that they changed our room immediately after I messaged on the next morning and even gave us a nicer room with the sea view, but all the impression was ruined by the first night as we didn’t sleep at all :(We heard other guests complained about the noise as well. Also another girl who was travelling with us had the same noise problem in the single room but she decided not to speak about it as they said that they gave the last empty room for us after I requested to change ours.Hairdryers in both rooms were very dated, overheating very fast in the hand, and the tubes were continuously disconnecting from the head of it.

Brilliant hotel. We stay away a lot with work and fun. Husband said it’s the first time he was as at ease due to how clean the hotel/room was. It has a home feel to the premises and the staff are exceptionally welcoming and friendly.

Taxis aren’t easy to get. We had a car but wanted an evening out in town which isn’t far, minutes away. But hotel staff managed to get one after many calls :) not a dislike but the only downside. Wine is to good !

Exceptional view from the terrace!Loved the decorations and theatre related paraphernalia, quite quirky :)All the staff was really helpful and friendly. The breakfast was pretty good as well.

The swimming was not yet ready to use but it was raining one day and we wanted to explore the nearby coast anyways, so not a big issue I would say

Very stylish entrance to the hotel and restaurant. It's so vintage with lots of small details, that you can spend a lot of time just looking around.The stuff is absolutely fabulous. Everyone was so nice, that I might say it's the best service I've ever seen.I asked if I could enjoy my bottle of wine with the view on the sea from their terrace. Not only I was allowed, but they also helped me to open the bottle and offered a bucket of ice.The room itself it stylish and is well-fit (it has a fridge, kettle, some glasses).I also reserved a dinner in their hotel. The dish I ordered ended up being quite simple, but very tasty. The prices are higher than average, and the service fee was quite high as well (4 EUR). But considering the design of the restaurant and the service quality, I enjoyed it.There is a lot of parking space.

The place is quite far from the city.One thing I liked on the photos was the pool. Unfortunately, it wasn't available in the middle of April.My room was on the ground floor, and it quite had a view on ... a wall. I know I booked a regular double-room, but I wish the view was better.Regarding the breakfast, it wasn't bad, but I wish there were more warm and non-sweet choices. In general, I mentioned that the breakfasts on Sicily are quite often sweet and are rarely warm, but this hotel has a restaurant, so I expected a bit more.

View from the terrace is really nice, so you can enjoy your breakfast/dinner even more. Breakfast was tasty with a good selection of sweet and savory products. Hotel is close to San Vito, 10 min drive.

After checking all the available room options, I booked a Superior Family Room with a Sea View, as I specifically was hoping for a larger room and a nice view. After arrival and checking in I realised that I was assigned another room. Only after enquiring at the reception was I informed that the room I booked had a broken faucet after previous guests left. I really don't understand why I wasn't given this information upfront. The room we stayed in was the Double Room with Sea View (hardly any view from it to be honest) and it is practically in a basement, it is small and cramped, lacking sufficient electrical sockets. This situation really spoiled the whole experience :(

Absolutely beautiful. The view from the terrace is amazing. Feels secluded but also easy access to San Vito lo Capo. The breakfast was also delicious. Would totally stay here again!

It is located by the road on the mountain, I didn't even know how to get to the beach. Terrace/balcony Ok, but you share it with a neighbor, it interferes with privacy.

The smell in the corridor

The most wonderful location, a sea view situated between a cliff line along with a beautiful sunset. A tranquil spot outside of the main town, which for us was too busy and built for tourists, it depends what you want out of a location. You will need a car as there is very little to do within the immediate surrounding area. The food here is wonderful, al la carte but some of the best Sicilian food we have eaten. We stayed for 2nights only as we are travelling Sciliy but for us is truest was a tranquil spot as a a couple with peace and relaxing.

It’s a little out dated and could do with some maintenance/upkeep for the price. However the location makes up for this and didn’t bother us!

Could do with friied or boiled or scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon. Nothing except boiled eggs.

Room was under a kitchen and was too noisy banging of some sort specially after 6 pm rill 10pm. For the price we paid i personally will not use again. Cant leave the back yard open as flies and mosquitoes invade you.

the staff where amazing! the view from the restaurant for breakfast and dinner was exceptional and so was the standard of the food ,room was well decorated and very clean and cleaned every day . The surronding area is great for exploring we hired a moped from a guy the hotel recommended

the fact i had to come home

The location is excellent, and the breakfast was very nice . Staff was friendly and attentive.

The location and the open terrace with a spectacular view over the coastline in San Vito Lo Capo, really a postcard. the location is convenient for visiting the Zingara natural reserve and San Vito Lo Capo by car

The rooms appear to be not very insulated and therefore noisy. The parking place is rather small and line divisions are made for very small cars. Breakfast can be improved

Absolutely delightful small hotel with very friendly & helpful staff in a fantastic location & excellent restaurant serving local food & wine.

Bed could have been more comfortable

the room was under the street level. so the view was a wall. also it was very humid inside. the staff was not nice, was rude! the food was absurdly expensive! the shower drain was plugged and the water filled the bathroom!

Beautiful setting, great sunset and location for a dinner:) Very good food + romantic location, ideal for couples:)

The restaurant was spectacular, the view from hotel was excellent. The staff were very attentive and helpful.

The sfaff were chilled, experienced, professional - you know you're in safe hands. Bfasts excellent on the patio. Dinners were super against dramatic sunsets every night. Try the fish couscous special on a Sunday as is a Sciliy tradition, the lady Chef comes in special for this. I liked the options of the rocky beach below the hotel & splashing in the surf (shoes recomnended), the quiet of the pool or a short drive to the main sandy beech at Di copa del vito a 10min drive away & restuarant options ( the best beach in Sicily). Everything for a relaxing week by the beach/pool. We would definately go again.

Parking a bit of a lottery at times because restaurant popular with locals & other tourists & you definately need a car to maximise your options & make the most of your stay.....
