The Grange at Oborne

Accommodation was very clean, comfortable and welcoming. Dinner was exceptional with friendly staff and a very pleasant ambience. Breakfast was of an exceptional quality and locally sourced.

We were a family group, the staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel had all the facilities we could wish for to have a sociable get together.

Food good but breakfast and drinks expensive

Well signposted. The breakfast was very good and full marks for presentation. The dining room had views over the lovely gardens and was spacious. There were a few reception rooms for comfortable drinks. The hotel has a happy peaceful atmosphere and is quiet.

Everything! The staff, the decor, the rooms, the food…

The hotel was wonderful and understatedly quirky/arty in its decor. Very cosy atmosphere and very helpful staff. Breakfast was very well done, cooked and high end cereal, yoghurt, jam......Dinners headed towards nouvelle cuisine but substantial enough and beautifully prepared. Situated very close to Sherborne, so great for exploring locally. Out of town down some lovely quiet roads so very peaceful.Our stay was excellent, made more so by the very pleasant staff.

The minor roads to the hotel and the parking could be a bit challenging for some but we found it perfectly ok.

The general aspect of the hotel was good. Facilities were good and the staff friendly and helpful.

The evening meal was poor my wife returned the risotto as it was dry and tasteless. The price of the evening meal compared to what was served was poorly cooked and expensive for what was served. The following days lunch which was for 5 persons was again poorly cooked and over priced.

The hotel has a wonderful boutique feel to it. The property was extremely clean with very friendly staff. The owners have thought of everything from the information book in the room which gave lots of local information to the wellies available to borrow for local walks. Ample car parking. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend, its the perfect package.

Box of toys available for children, welly boots you could take if you wanted to go on a walk, a bookcase of brochures/guide books, forgotten items available including ties(!) if you need, treasure box of forgotten items like a toothbrush or sewing kit, evening appetiser with supper, staff and general team were lovely, we had a terrace which was idyllic, the garden was lovely

Outdated and slightly dirty bathroom, breakfast service slow (45 mins wait - they told us it was because they made everything fresh but I had scrambled egg and smoked salmon which takes 5 minutes!), food was quite good at supper and presented very well but very expensive which is why I believe there were some complaints (when people are paying top dollar, they’re more likely to complain at even small issues)

We loved the property overall. Cosy rooms, immaculately kept. It was quaint!

The property is understaffed. More people around would have helped. Nobody was available to answer the reception calls.

Room 19 was stifling. There was a small fan which was not very effective. The most uncomfortable 5 nights we have ever experienced as it was too hot. For two nights my Husband slept on the floor as it was cooler. We were on the top floor ie 1st floor which must have been loft space in the past due to flooding ceilings. This probably contributed to the heat. A glass shelf in the bathroom fell off during the night even though only a handful of toiletries on it. There was an issue with the toilet and shower on the last night. Toilet would not flush and shower would not drain away. No fridge in the room. 1 bottle of complimentary water for two people.

Very nice and pleasant hotel with the nicest staff. Amazing room, beds very comfortable with great view. Garden in the hotel beautiful. I wish I booked for more days.

Communication about check in by impersonal email. Checkout by key drop with no acknowledgement by staff that you had even left the property. We felt more of a nuisance than a paying guest. Room had not been checked and cleaned properly prior to our stay.

A perfect and peaceful retreat with very comfortable rooms (and good tea/coffee provision), an excellent bar, garden and restaurant. 'In the middle of nowhere', but in the best possible way and just a few minutes' drive from Sherborne. Our visit overlapped with the silent film event in the church 'next door', which was a memorable and very lovely experience.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The garden room was clean and comfortable with its own patio set. The food was delicious, the best sea bass I have ever been served. I loved the quirky decor. There was something interesting wherever you looked.e.g. central lights made of wine glasses, and one made of decanters. Great idea! Loved everything about this hotel.

The place is far away. The food is expensive. 28 pounds 2 pieces of fish. I was attacked by the owner for taking my receipt after paying. The day I was leaving the owner just entered my room screaming. I had a horrible expetience
