Whatley Manor

The building and facilities were excellent and the food quality exceptional deserving of the hotels superb reputation, rooms are very comfortable and very well sound proofed giving a very peaceful experience.

We have stayed before so know to expect the best service and facilities, however this time there were a few minor points that I was surprised to find given previous experiences. Running out of a particular gin after one drink, switch to another recommended gin to find that run out adter next drink. Room service no answer after several calls and hanging on several minutes so have to walk to reception to order service. These are minor but not what we have cone to expect of a usually very high quality establishment.

We loved everything! Whatley Manor is a treat. From the moment you arrive everyone is keen to help and make sure you get the most out of your stay. All staff were exceptional and took time to help, explain choices and enhance the experience. The food in the Dining Room was outstanding, one of the best meals we have had and the wine pairings perfect. We were celebrating my husband’s 50th birthday and couldn’t have found a better place to do it - thank you!

Grounds , buildings, gardens

Not great value nor luxury one would expect for £500 a night room. The taster menu was disappointing at £130 -although exquisitely crafted, it didn't touch the sides and we weren't to bed with tummies rumbling. No draught beer, just as well as charged £9 for a can.Spa was ok, the pool area was small, gym non existent

Very shabby and money grabbing to put service charge on the cost of room rate. It tainted the stay with its small mindedness. We are not mean people and of course reward staff accordingly. It is up to the management to pay support staff for their contribution. I know as I have done it

Lovely setting, delicious food, Jazz Sunday lunch really tasty and food great quality, great music. Friendly staff. Spa lovely apart from it being so slippery. Great products molton brown in the rooms.

The spa was so very slippery, I fell down the stairs in the spa really hurting myself, ruining the rest of my stay. It could of been a lot worse however I still took a huge bashing on my thigh, ankle and forearm. Nasty bruising on the area. I was offered ice, I was told I should of wore flip flops not the slippers however, was told to wear slippers and robe from my room by someone else. DO NOT wear slippers from room! Stayed in my room for the rest of the evening, food was brought up to me instead of dining in greys which was appreciated.Although food was lovely and staff friendly, there were quite a few mistakes throughout which I didn't expect to happen. I know things can't be helped but I was suprised. Drinks added to the bill we did not have, this happened twice. Ensure you check the bills before signing for them. Ordered drinks at breakfast, which were forgotten about, then the wrong drinks sent, then wrong again. Things happen but it was quiet at the time.Service charge added to the final bill which was a big amount, as includes the room rate, this is optional tho.

Our 5-day stay at Whatley Manor was beyond exceptional. I am hard put to find words to convey how blissful we felt. The enchanting grounds/park/gardens, the hard-to-believe set of buildings that constitute the hotel, the amazingly comfy lounges, bars, restaurants, rooms, not to mention the spa and swimming-pool, and - cherry on a gorgeous pie - the staff. In such a top-notch hotel environment, they all accomplish the amazing feat of being perfect, without… doing too much, if I can put it that way. And the smiles! They put one on your face, too, all day long.Shall I mention the stunning Cotswolds region? The jaw-dropping honey-coloured 17th-century villages. Well, if heaven had a specific address, that could be it.

Wonderful location, perfect comfortable room, quiet, beautiful garden combined with a friendly & very professional staff.

Spectacular stay. Tranquil getaway surrounded with its own haven of exceptional gardens. Very comfortable stay with outstanding facilities including the restaurants, spa treatments and room amenities and extremely attentive and hospitable staff. Highly recommend for a peaceful escape.

Stunning hotel, really something special. There was nothing I didn’t like, very romantic and perfect for a weekend break in cotswolds x if I had to be picky I’d say the breakfast was average.

I loved everything although I was surprised to see a £70 service charge added to our bill upon leaving, seemed expensive and not really sure what it was for other than it didn’t feel optional

I liked the building and the gardens

I did not appreciate the poor service in the spa. The chairs in the spa were left appearing used for hours when they should have been cleared up and made ready for the next user. The spa treatments were also booked out. I did not enjoy the restaurant. Tiny portions which did not justify the prices. The bar had no beer on tap and again served standard drinks at exorbitant prices.

Everything was fantastic but two minor issues , spa towels were thread bare , old and need renewing, and adding service charge to whole bill, after paying £550 for room don’t expect them to add 10% to bill and spa treatment , they took it off but really , this is greed

It was all fabulous ! I would of liked the option of a salad as a meal at the Greys restaurant in the evening

The stairs down to the changing rooms of the spar were dangerous

The appearance of the hotel and grounds is incredible. As is the spa and sauna with the tepidarium and hot tub a real highlight. We ate an afternoon tea, breakfast and also in the small plates menu in the restaurant which was all exceptional and worth the visit alone.We also walked around the grounds of the hotel and into the neighbouring paths and loved that there was so much to do at our doorstep. We could have stayed for a lot longer. The staff were also very well trained, polite and very eager to help. Also the valet service was a fantastic touch on arrival.

Very little to say in this section. The only thing I would recommend is that they do a bit of work on their gym. The area has a fair bit of machinery in there but it's cramped when there are more than 2 people using it at once.

The room and spa were wonderful, and the hotel staff were great

We had dinner at Grey’s restaurant, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst meals we’ve had in a long time. The food was overly salty and tasted like pre-packaged microwave meals. Breakfast was also very basic and a bit underwhelming

This place is absolutely amazing. The service provided from the moment you step in is second to none. The room we stayed in was so luxurious- it was a birthday trip and I even got given a hand made cake to celebrate. The grounds are stunning and the spa was brilliant. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing getaway

Great setting lovely house spa was very nice, comfortable room and very dog friendly which is what we look for
