Gecko Inn

The restaurant was not buffet. We could order a la carte. Prices were good. The dinner was good,

The hotel and staff were excellent and could not do enough for us.

Very clean, well thought out rooms and staff were friendly, accommodating and the best thing about our stay. Well done to the staff from checking in to dinner and breakfast service. Brilliant

There were guests sitting outside their room, 2 doors down from ours, having a party until well past midnight. The noise was very bad. Our room was next to the restaurant & pool tables and this is a local Saturday night hangout, so the music also went on well past midnight. Ask for a room away from the restaurant if you want a quiet night!

My son travel alone and he receive a special attention for his birthday.Thanks to the team !

TV wasn't working well

It was beautiful well organised clean and neat the staff were friendly and more helpful we really enjoyed our stay

Well everything was in place well organised like I can even recommend my friend to come and visit

It was so clean I loved everything about it from the restaurant to the bar everything was excellent

Staff was very friendly and eager to assist in all requests. On campus restaurant and bar with pool tables is very convenient and entertaining.

Living room for the house is extremely small with no lounge and sofas to speak of. One of the room's entrance is actually not linked to the house. No cleaning staff came around for the duration of our stay. Refund of our R2 000 deposit was not forthcoming.

It's a beautiful and clean place, with very friendly staff. The room was spacious and very tidy

I didn't enjoy that music plays loud well into the night. I probably would've enjoyed the great vibe had I not been there with a lot of work to do. I guess what I can say is that the music is great, but one shouldn't book into Gecko Inn if they are on business or have work to do at night

Richards Bay is a relatively small town, so you're not exactly spoilt for choice when it comes to accommodation. With that in mind, Gecko Inn is not a terrible option. The place is nice and clean and it's in a very secure area.

I stayed at Gecko Inn for three days over the festive period and my experience was unfortunately not great. I arrived early from another town (that's on me) and I was told that there's no early check-in option. That meant driving around aimlessly for about two hours waiting for 2pm. The lady at reception said she'd call me as soon as the first room was ready and available, and she didn't. I came back around 4pm and waited over an hour to check in. There was some dispute being dealt with at reception, a customer that had requested two rooms and paid in full only had one room reserved for them. The receptionist couldn't sort that out and there was no manager available to clean up the mess. In the end, there was no resolution and four guests had to squeeze themselves into one room. Didn't hear the word sorry even once.The place allows day visitors, which I wasn't aware of. That meant large, noisy crowds on the premises most of the time using shared facilities like the pool, braai stands, etc. My partner and I had a braai the afternoon of the 31st and used some of the crockery and cutlery from the room. A wine glass and a side plate disappeared. When we checked out, just before the gate opened, the cleaning staff started running around, screaming and waving frantically at security not to open the gate because there was a wine glass and a side plate missing from our room. You can imagine how embarrassing and infuriating that was. Ultimately, we had to pay R72 before we were allowed to leave.In terms of the rooms, the bed is nice and solid but the surface area of the side tables is about the size of an A4 page, which means your stuff is always falling to the ground. The showers have no doors, so maybe bring a mop from home because the floor in the bathroom will need some drying up after every shower. Decent-ish place but I won't be in a hurry to come back.

I didn't like the Noise, we were woken up by the sound of Driller from the Maintenance and the people that were our Neighbors from other Rooms were making Noise the whole night especially the kids were running around even after 22h00 there was a lot of Movements We Cudn't get the buffet breakfast because they were preparing a Christmas Lunch of which we didn't know about it and when we arrived it was fully booked Their house Rules were too much ?‍♀️you get scared to even sleep nicely because we didn't want to leave Stains on their Linen as there is a rule about the Linen ,We had to Request a 2nd Chair so that we won't sit on bed ?

TV, please improve get smart TV as we were trying to login to our DSTV but it was not allowing us please.

I liked the how big-spaced the restaurant was and how big the guesthouse was. The pool was also very clean. Mostly I LOVED how there was everything you needed in the room.

Great facility and pools

Way too many people at a time with dining right at the reception as you check in and loud music through out the night..didn’t get much rest.
