Location
Bed very uncomfortable, broken. No air conditioning in the room. Poorly maintained generally.
Central location
The hot water seemed to cut out then back on during shower. There was not anyone using the other shower at the same time.
We didn't have breakfast.
No water at basin in room. No privacy or blackout curtains over some of the windows in the room.
Very convenient with the location
Can be very noisy with the local clock chime and a lot of light in the rooms.
No tv, no aircon, no fridge, kettle etc - a very depressing room. I knew there was no en suite but I wasn’t surprised it was noisy, given that it’s a pub.
Staff were great
Room smelt like piss and some cleaner mixed with piss.Guests playing music all nightWater leaks throughout the building. Paint peeling off walls. To take the cake, the shower was terrible (really bad shower head). The hot water only worked for about 1 minute before going cold.
A lovely welcome and basic but clean and comfortable rooms. A characterful place, plus they do a great steak in the restaurant.
Great central location and the historic hotel, staff and meals were very nice overall.
Although room was clean and bed was comfy there is no air con and the window above the door lets a lot of light into the room overnight which makes it hard to sleep.
Good cheap accommodation, staff were friendly and helpful.
Bed was above the Hotel, Noise from patrons went well into the night making it hard to sleep. Otherwise, all ok
Cheap comfortable accommodation, friendly staff.
For me not an issue, but accommodation is a pub so noise from a crowd below can carry upstairs (more likely only very loud one weekend) - just to consider if you are not comfortable with too much noise.
If a historical Australian hotel experience is on your agenda, this place is perfect. It will certainly remind you how hard they had it if this place was, at one time, classified as good. Ruckus pub patrons, loud music, wholely shared facilities, a wide front verandah that allowed you to have a good yarn with other patrons even while you're comfy in bed. Plus, it allowed you to walk out to check on your horse you had tied up out front or urgently get the attention of street folks as quickly as sitting up in your bed. Talk about convenience. Of course, air conditioning wasn't invented yet, but even yesteryear fans must have been very noisy as they got this replication perfect. But there's one thing they must have had alright back in the day. Super clean sheets. And nice fluffy pillows. And the period beds must have been ok, as ours was not too bad. I guess. There's nothing like going back in time, if even for an evening.
I Dunno. You could say all of the above, but then that would be missing the point. If you want modern luxury, this is definitely not it. If you want somewhere fairly cheap and as real return to our early hotel heritage as possible, with ALL its shortcomings and some of its "charm," stay here. You might even enjoy it. Maybe.
Staff amazing. Food great. Beautiful heritage building. Clean sheets etc
No curtain in room. No table between beds. Excessive noise.
Handy to shops, bank Main Street.
Reported clogged up sink on first afternoon, no action even by the morning two days later when we left! No air conditioning in rooms, the hot tin roof and blow out by the air conditioning unit made the room unbearable to sleep in!
The food was amazing we had dinner
No air con in room for the price $144 for 1 night
Good location, clean and good parking.
Staff at hotel not very welcoming and friendly.
It was well located
It is a bit old.
Close to shops
The price, way to much for three nights
The heritage aspect is nice
Not all rooms are air conditioned and this is quite a big problem in summer
