Vakkaru Maldives - Luxury Private Island Resort

Everything was perfect! Was such a special vacation!! We stayed for 5 nights, and since the minute we got to the male airport, vakkaru staff supported us! They were very kind! The location was great, it is near two blue holes, so we were able to snorkeling with a very active marine life. We saw some sharks, rays, and lots of beautiful fishes! We also adventured ourselves in stand up paddle and kayaking and was a different way to discover the marine life over vakkaru island! The sunset, beach, and view was breathtaking! The restaurants were speechless! Thank you vakkaru team, specially Skyler that was our butler!

Expensive water.

The stay was amazing, very luxurious. We were taken care of as queens. The reception, the welcome drink and sweets, the food in the restaurants was spectacular especially the breakfast, the spa view was magical, the service and the workers were all amazing, welcoming. The rooms were clean, the service was very fast. I would like to give a huge shout out and big thank you to Tina who helped in everything to make our stay memorable. She even arranged for me three wheel bicycle because I didn’t know how to ride two wheeler. Tina went above and beyond, she is a marvelous and welcoming soul. Special thanks to Joseph who made us yum yum food and the experience we had at the dinner was amazing, also to Dora who helped me during my dive and was very gentle and helpful and showed me the clown fish, to Ahmed who showed me the turtle and made my day. Honestly, If I knew the names of everyone, I would like to thank them one by one. Thank you for this amazing trip that I will never forget ?

Exceptional service. Beautiful island. Great food.This one of the best hotel I have been in my life. You start relaxing very quickly - even despite long flight and head full of thoughts brought from home.Our butler Yana did an excellent job in making sure our stay is perfect. Her sand drawings were very heartwarming.Kids club is great. I would personally add more sport activities to kids club. Especially for kids 8+.All restaurants were great, we personally liked Lagoon bar, Onu and Vakku. Italian place could be better, but it’s a common issue with Italian food in Asia. Children menu was fantastic. Breakfast was also exceptional, they even try to cook syrniki, but no successful so far. We hope this will be fixed next time we visit! :)Island itself is very green and well maintained.Snorkeling experience was above expectations.

Vakkaru Resort exceeded our expectations. We liked absolutely everything. The island is big enough to never get bored of it. There are beautiful beaches and a flourishing vegetation that makes very pleasant biking around in the internal part. The service exceeded our expectations. Our Buttler, Joy, was absolutely perfect: precise, gentle, always one step further, she assisted us perfectly and resolved any situation. Everyone was extremely competent and so nice with us. The whole island is so clean. We were afraid that our plunge pool villa would have been too small, but it was actually perfect, much bigger than it appears in the pictures. Great attention is given to sustainability in the choice of materials. The private beach in front of it was pure heaven. Snorkelling in front of the villa and in the blue holes was amazing. Breakfast was huge and excellent. Food in general was fantastic, and we are difficult customers as we really love high quality dining and we are very spoiled by Michelin starred restaurants around the world. We particularly loved Lagoon Bar, with its amazing sea food and astonishing views of the ocean. We also loved Isoletta, despite the fact we are Italian and we normally never eat Italian food abroad. But at Isoletta, chef Andrea does a wonderful job: you can find superlative Italian cuisine here, with its classic recipes, sometimes with an original "twist". Not only is Andrea an excellent chef, but he is extremely kind and welcoming. I really appreciated he found the time to teach me some tricks for his "risotto al limone", one of the best risotto I ever had in my life. If you would ever get bored of the beach, snorkelling, and sea, you can relax at the amazing SPA. Or play some board games, there are so many! Or play padel, or tennis, or several water sports. We are already considering to coming back asap.

The few extras that we bough were not worth it: the show cooking of Japanese cuisine was extremely expensive and we didn't like much neither the food, nor the show. The glass boat ride was nothing special, and the drone photo shooting was a bit disappointing. In general, extras were extremely expensive. In the room, I would have appreciated if the lifejacket for our 3 year-old daughter was of her size.

Absolutely amazing property. We had an overwater pool villa, which was gorgeous but could benefit from a netted area to watch the life below as there was nowhere really to do that.

The food could have been slightly better. There was a Maldivian option but we only found out on the last night. It was the best food we had all week

I had very high expectations for my first trip to the Maldives, so I carefully researched a hotel that would offer everything we typically see in social media posts. My final choice was Vakkaru.My expectations regarding the location were exceeded — not only because of the stunning beauty of the place but also due to the outstanding service provided by the staff, especially our butler, Sato.I also need to mention the professionalism of the top manager — whose name I can’t quite remember — and the kindness of Rijal, who is responsible for the pool area.I will definitely return.

This isn’t exactly a criticism, as it's a reality in the Maldives — restaurant prices are generally high. We also had a minor issue with the diving instructor, but it was quickly addressed and resolved by the hotel staff.

Beautifully run island. You must do the sand bank lunch and Teppanyaki dinner. Kids club great. Beaches great. Villas nicely done.

Our stay was truly amazing. The cleanliness of the villa was outstanding, and the staff was incredibly helpful. I recently stayed at this hotel and was impressed by its cleanliness and attention to detail. The staff were exceptionally helpful, and I want to especially commend Yana for her outstanding service. She went above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for a pleasant and accommodating experience.

Food is average

If you ask yourselves where to stay in the Maldives, avoid spending endless hours of searching for a dream destination and book the Vakkaru. Rest assured that you will find an incredibly beautiful spot that offers all you wish for - and more.The resort staff offers unparalleled, heartfelt hospitality and personalized services, the food served in several restaurants is simply outstanding, the premises are in a top condition, you can chose from a variety of (water) activities (go for a Manta ray snorkeling trip in season) and wine lovers will find an ultimate selection of excellent and exquisit wines far away from home. When you leave the island all you want is to come back.

10/10: This is paradise, nothing more to say. We will for sure come back. We have visited a lot of top class hotels in the world but this is really another level especially in terms of service. Joy was just amazing taking care of all our requests. She gave us the feeling as if we could even write her on WhatsApp at 3 am right in the middle of the night and she would still answer within one minute. Evon makes the nicest Cappuccino art and all the staff was just super nice without being intrusive. Everyone should visit this place at least once in a lifetime.

We really liked the attention to small details such as interior design, the warm, kind and very friendly atmosphere and attitude of the staff. Our butler Iby was exceptionally good, very knowledgeable, professional and intuitive taking charge of organising my husband’s birthday and arranging little surprises which we found very touching and made us feel even more comfortable and welcome. The food at all the restaurants, especially at Vakku and Onu was simply outstanding, as well as the breakfast buffet with a wide variety of cuisines and dishes from around the world.

It’s beautiful location, only one thing is good - specially our butler Adell who is a great friendly, and very helpful with professional!

Millions of mosquitoes are in this island! Very dirty on the beaches! Be very attentive if you take full border, as they will charge you on the bill even with food. Also be very attentive at the price of wine and spirits you take, as they will charge you another year much more expensive!

Our butler Adu and the rest of the hotel staff were so welcoming, they did such a great job of making our stay extra special. Our villa was super comfortable and we had the most incredible sunset view from the terrace. We chose this resort in great part due to the dining options available, and the restaurants did not disappoint! We particularly loved Vakku and Onu. We enjoyed a very relaxing couples massage at the spa, but the really highlight were all of the activities, especially turtle snorkeling and snorkeling around the house reef.

The watervilla is really beautiful with the best ocean and sunset view. The entire staff is so friendly and helpful. Especially Affan our butler has taken such good care of us and our children and made sure our stay was very comfortable. the food, wines, mocktails and cocktails are very good! Our favorite restaurants are Vakku, Onu, Lagoon Bar and Amaany.

the water villa is a great option if you like snorkeling, we were lucky, our villa was next to a blue hole, every day we saw stingrays or a turtle swimming under the villa.
