Pros +
- central location, amazing stuff, beautiful pool
- The room was the best part
- Great location, so everything is within walking distance.Staff are friendly, especially the day manager. Hotel restaurant is very nice, a lot of choices - surprisingly not too expensive. Pool water is very good.
Cons -
- Very bad beach, you cannot really swim, extremely shallow water... The rooms need renovation, very old hotel, if you are facing the garden, no view at all, far from the pool. Bad smell in the room.
- The section of the beach was not great. There didn''t seem to be an abundance of chairs.
- Air conditioning is reeeally noisy - checked one other room, same thing. The public toilet next to the pool/restaurant is full of mosquitoes. Most of the staff don't speak very good English. Pool is of a strange shape - not very good for exercise.

The location was wonderful and the entire staff hospitality was amazing. The services in room were great too.
The only thing missing were the options for vegetarian food in breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is important to have a variety of vegetarian / vegan options as many people from India adopt a vegetarian only lifestyle.
The service is top-notch. The staff is super friendly and there to assist you in anything you need. The location of the hotel was the highlight of our stay, we didn’t need taxis at all, it is located right in the heart of Chaweng, next to all the bars, parties, grocery shopping and shopping in general. All of that is just a walking distance from the hotel, and yet, once you’re in the hotel, it’s quiet - which we appreciated. The hotel itself has a great pool, lots of sun-beds on the beach, and the beach there is pretty nice.
The hotel needs some renovation in the rooms. It just feels outdated. I also don’t understand why they still don’t have a smart TV, I mean it’s 2025. Most of the other hotels I’ve stayed at in Thailand have smart TVs - not a major issue of course, but it would’ve been nice to watch some Netflix. And finally the pillows, oh the pillows.. my neck still hurts from these awful pillows, I still can’t move it properly. Not just me, my wife as well. They really need to change their pillows.
The location
The AC is bad , and the staff not helpful and they disturb us even we ask to not be disturbed on the room and the room service is very late to order even water
The room was ok.
Our stay at Muang Samui Spa Resort in Koh Samui was a major disappointment, mainly due to the unfriendly and even hostile attitude of the staff. My husband badly injured his leg after tripping over an unmarked step near our room. When he informed the staff, their first response was, “What do you want me to do about it?” The second was, “You’re responsible for yourself,” — both delivered without a shred of empathy. he wasn’t even trying to complain or ask for compensation — he simply wanted to alert them to the safety hazard so others wouldn’t get hurt. But their reaction was dismissive and cold.Another example: while walking around the resort, we passed a staff member who was sweeping the floor. Instead of pausing or stepping aside, he continued sweeping — pushing the dirt directly toward us. It was shocking and disrespectful. The pool and beach area were also in poor condition. The area was filthy, there were very few seating options, and many of the mattresses were stained — an unpleasant and sad sight for a supposed 5 star resort.Although we had booked four nights, we decided to leave after just one. When the staff saw we were checking out early, the first thing they did was inspect the room to make sure we hadn’t stolen anything. Then they handed us a form and demanded we explain our reason for leaving. When I asked to speak with the manager to share our concerns in person, she refused to listen and told me to “just fill out the form.”The most disappointing part of our experience at Muang Resort was the complete lack of hospitality. The staff showed no patience, warmth, or care for their guests. It’s truly a shame, as we were looking forward to a relaxing stay and instead left feeling disrespected and unwelcome.
Central location in Chaweng beach, nice breakfast
Rude staff, dirty pool, food leftovers not cleaned (to the point of spoting a MOUSE! In the pool sitting area), no towels left at the pool at only 5pm. Really not what you expect when paying so much...?
Room was beautiful and had great amenities The property was nicely maintainedThe staff were hands down the best part. They really went over and above to make our stay great.Great location. Just up the road from where all the action is but quiet and close to scooter rentals, restaurants, convenience stores, etc.Quiet guests and no kids Note: not a con for me but, the beach is super shallow and calm. If you enjoy swimming in the ocean or watersports, you’d be disappointed.
It would have been nice to have staff monitor the beach and pool area. I would have definitely ordered more food and drinks if I didn’t have to go looking for staff every time.Mosquitos are a big hassle but can’t really be helped…Samui is mosquito capital. Perhaps having bug zappers and treating the grounds with pesticides would help? I hated go to breakfast and coming back either covered in bites or sticky with mosquitos repellent.Rooms were very clean but could due with a renovation. Dirty curtains and towels. The basement under the lobby also needs to be completed redone. It ruined my first impression but thankfully the rest of the resort is beautiful and properly maintained. The spa STILL was not finished. I confirmed before booking that the spa would be ready by our dates but we were not informed until the day of our check-in. This should be on their website. It’s would have been nice to have more English speaking channels on the tv (or a smart tv) when the rain squalls keep you insideA master switch would have been nice in the room for the lights
Nothing!
I have been 10 times in this hotel every year in the last 10 years. All was good so I came back again and again. but this time the stuff was arrogant and disgusting. Not even close to the known Thai politeness and kindness. The breakfast was awful. We had to go eat breakfast outside. We Moved to another hotel and never go again. Not recommended definitely!!
The friendliness of the staff
Construction taking place without notice & random noise during breakfast, pool time and even private time in the premium suite near the Spa - also closed without warning due to maintenance
Amazing stay!
No discount or anything for spa treatments when you are staying at a spa hotel. No spa, currently being built so have to go to another sister hotel.
Fantastic location, right in town. The staff were so friendly and accomodating, and the room was lovely and spacious. Unfortunately my husband and I were sick for some of the visit, and had to extend our stay as we weren’t fit to fly. I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather be “stuck”! The team was really helpful in organising for us to extend our stay there, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The pool was lovely and relaxing, and the breakfast was great. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone.
Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. Lots of fresh fruits. and choices of Thai and English dishes. Eggs cooked to order, juices, teas, coffees etc.
Even though there were several complaints about some of the Israeli guests and their behaviour, particularly around the pool area, no action was taken. They were very intimidating and hostile towards our friend who was a lone female travelling with her children.
Overall, a lovely resort in a fantastic location.Situated right in the heart of Chaweng, the resort offers the best of both worlds — close to the action, yet tucked away just enough to enjoy some peace and quiet. The staff was warm and hospitable, and we had a mostly pleasant experience with them. However, there was one disappointing incident. While sitting at the beach, a local vendor came by selling coconuts. My daughter bought one, and shortly after, a waiter managing the beach area told us — rather bluntly — that we needed to dispose of it ourselves since it wasn’t from the hotel. When I asked if the hotel served cold coconuts, he said no. Later, when we forgot to take the empty coconut with us, he approached us again — this time in an extremely rude and unpleasant manner. It was an unfortunate and surprising interaction that left a negative impression.Rooms:This was the biggest downside of our stay. Although the rooms are stylish and equipped with good amenities, they lack natural light and proper ventilation. I stayed in a Grand Suite with a pool view, and while the decor was lovely, the room felt quite dark and stuffy. Opening the doors for light invites mosquitoes, so it’s not a great solution. Installing mesh screens or breathable windows could really improve the comfort level.Food:Nay at the restaurant deserves special mention for their courteous service. Overall, I’d rate the staff a 9/10. Breakfast was on the smaller side with limited variety, and the menu didn’t change much from day to day. That said, the food was tasty. I appreciated the effort the kitchen put into accommodating my gluten-free diet — delicious pancakes, sandwiches, and even desserts every morning. Chef Dee was particularly kind and helpful.Final Thoughts:While the staff (with one exception) and food were commendable, and the location is excellent, the room comfort and overall value for money didn’t quite meet expectations.
Location was amazing. Very friendly staff and backed onto the beach
The in-house restaurant and room service menu was over priced and the menu was very limited.
The breakfast buffet was great but lacked a few things like hash browns and fried tomatoes
The restaurant menu to much Japanese influence and not enough Thai dishes
Good location, staff are always courteous and helpful and pool/beach area is nice.
The breakwater which I assume was built to protect the shore from erosion has limited the amount of water in this area directly in front of the hotel, and this detracts from the overall experience.
Rooms, pool, beach front, breakfast and cleanliness.
Hotel is in a central location. Beautiful hotel, Staff amazing and so friendly. Located right on the beach. Best hotel and will definately visit again. 1 garden view suite, lovely size room. It's the best hotel to stay in Chaweng.
