The setting is fantastic. Nature preserved as much as possible. Beautiful bay setting.
Incredible location, beach, amenities, staff and food! Amazing value for the price and by far our favorite hotel during our stay.
location. The cottages were wonderful. I wouldn't recommend the rooms by the pool. They don't have privacy and the AC blows right onto the bed when you're sleeping. The cottages are glorious.

Our hotel room was very large, with a huge soaking tub, as well as a large couch, kitchenette, and TV. The pool was beautiful, with flowering trees and a waterfall. The included breakfast had lots of good choices. There are massage facilities on site.

Top Tips
- Book Chaweng beachfront or pool-view rooms 6 to 10 weeks before the December to February dry season to avoid 25–60% price spikes and limited room types. For stays that include Christmas or New Year, add 8 to 12 weeks. Always check the hotel's cancellation policy before booking these peak dates.
- For remote work, hotels on the north or inner side of Chaweng Road and the stretch toward Chaweng Noi tend to have lower night noise after 22:00 and more stable daytime power. Request a room away from major nightlife venues for more consistent quiet hours.
- When booking, request a room on the inland side and at least 3 to 4 floors up to reduce road and nightclub noise. Many hotels lack double-glazing, so confirm elevator access for higher floors if needed; rooms 3 to 4+ floors above ground can lower street noise by 6–12 dB.
- Before booking, screenshot the best OTA rate and contact the hotel directly to ask them to match it, plus a free airport transfer or breakfast for stays of 3 nights or more. Confirm all inclusions, such as airport transfer (valued at $15 to $30 USD or 550 to 1100 THB, approx.) or breakfast, in your reservation email for proof at check-in.
- Thai hotels commonly add a 10% service charge plus 7% VAT to bills. Compare the 'rate before tax' to the final amount due, as this can add about 17% to taxable items. For loyalty program rates, check if quoted prices already include taxes to avoid surprise charges.
- If offered to pay in a non-THB currency at check-in or checkout, decline and request Thai baht (THB) payment to avoid dynamic currency conversion fees, which are often hidden and add 1–3% to your bill. Use an international card that does not charge foreign transaction fees when possible.
- During Full Moon Party weekends (Koh Phangan) and Thai national holidays, inter-island ferries and shared transfers fill quickly and taxi surcharges spike. Reserve a private Samui Airport to Chaweng transfer 48–72 hours prior and verify ferry schedules, as they may vary by season or weather.
- Jet-ski and motorbike rental damage claims are a common dispute on Koh Samui beaches. Inspect and photograph (with timestamp), and request a written condition report and deposit policy in English before using. Typical deposits range from $60 to $280 USD (2200 to 10300 THB, approx.).
- If hotel Wi-Fi is unstable, buy a Thai eSIM or data SIM at Chaweng mobile shops or the airport. Plans with tethering average 10–30 Mbps in Chaweng and cost around $15 to $30 USD for 7–14 days. Check your phone's eSIM compatibility before purchase.
- For week-plus remote work stays, request the property's average daytime Wi-Fi throughput and confirm your room has a dedicated desk and local power sockets. Ask for in-room photos of the workspace and target speeds of at least 25 Mbps down for single-worker comfort.
- Choose hotels that list Thailand’s SHA (Safety & Health) compliance and visible sustainability steps like refill stations or linen opt-out. These properties typically adhere to higher hygiene standards and stable operations. Certifications may be displayed at reception or on the hotel’s website; ask for verification if not listed.
- Chaweng hotels often prefer offering guaranteed early check-in or late checkout over a small rate discount. Request these perks when booking if your flight times are inconvenient, as they can be worth 5–15% of the nightly rate. Get confirmation in writing for smooth check-in and checkout.
- Songkran (Thai New Year in mid-April) and other national holidays reduce staffing and increase local travel demand. Book 2 to 3 months ahead for stays over Songkran and expect reduced service hours in areas like housekeeping and food & beverage at small hotels.
- Many Chaweng hotels lack formal accessibility certification. If you need step-free access, roll-in showers, or elevator use, request photos and a floor plan, and get confirmation in writing at least 2 weeks before arrival. Confirm if step-free access is available for pool and dining areas if required.
- Airport vendors sometimes sell SIM and transfer bundles at a premium. Compare with Chaweng-based vendors, as separate transfer and SIM purchases are often 10–30% cheaper. Chaweng vendors may only accept cash (THB), so bring local currency.
- Chaweng can have short power outages during heavy storms or peak maintenance. Bring a power bank of 10,000 mAh or more and a travel surge suppressor. Outages often last minutes to a few hours, so recharge devices during the day and check if your hotel offers generator backup for medical equipment.
