Sudamala Resort, Komodo, Labuan Bajo

Staff was wonderful, facilities beautiful.

We have stayed here before. The beds are comfy, everything in the room worked as it should have. There were plenty of outlets for charging, and the bathroom was roomy, shower was good with plenty of hot water. The staff was friendly and helpful and made a point to know our names and dietary needs. We left a charging adapter in the room and were already at the airport when notified. The hotel met my husband at the arrival terminal and we boarded our flight on time with the charger! Above and beyond service.

We were happy with our stay. The only downside was noisy neighbors one night on one side of us. And someone upstairs dragging their chair across the floor until early morning. Soundproofing wasn’t great.

Nothing that I could think off, one of the best stays we had!

2 highlights: The Sudamala Resort Restaurant is actually really good, especially the Indonesian dishes. I managed to pay a visit to their nearby resort at Seraya, and the snorkeling is very good there, and worth spending the extra if you like to be away from the crowd and closer to nature and aqua blue water.

The design of the Garden facing suite on the ground floor is a bit strange, the bed is directly facing a set of glass doors which opens to a public traffic path where all guests walks by during the day. It seems to lack privacy considerations, you must draw the curtains to sleep without being visually disturbed. The open concept shower and toilet area however is a nice touch, and has much more privacy.

The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, the spa is excellent, and the common areas, gym, and facilities are well maintained and curated. The resort has potential, and the location is beautiful.

The service is far from 5-star standards. Staff struggle with English and lack attention to detail. Our first dinner was terrible (still water was unavailable, food choice limited, and the “catch of the day” had a bad smell), but they wiped it off from the account. The bathroom was not cleaned properly, and we had to ask multiple times. On departure, we were told we could shower before leaving, but the only option was an outdoor shower in front of the pool — no privacy. They couldn’t even provide a free bottle of water for our departure trip. Finally, the beach is not swimmable as the sea is dirty.

Nice and beautiful resort right in front of the beach. The facilities were impecable and the staff were kind and friendly. The room was very clean, comfortable, and very well designed. We couldn’t ask for anything else.

You have to get transport to go to the center but really no big deal.

Stunning hotel, amazing staff! Food was excellent and price correctly! You can feel that this property is managed by people who care about their guests!

Only one complain, the bike rental service was not up to the standard of such property...(external company). I think there is room for improvement for that.

The choice of breakfast is limited and the quality is below the average of a 5 star hotel,and it’s shocked to find,one day during my stay,the rice porridge was left in the container from previous day! However, the lunch and dinner were excellent,I don’t understand why the breakfast was so poor, maybe the breakfast was cooked by a trainee?But I have to say, except the breakfast, the hotel is excellent and it matches the standard of a 5 star hotel in all of other aspects.

My boyfriend and I had such a special visit at Sudamala. The room was spacious the bed was glorious and I cannot thank the Staff enough - every single person who worked there was kind and helpful. The food in their restaurant was also divine. They helped coordinate our activities exploring the area and also offered kayaking straight from the beach at the hotel which was fun. Shuttles to and from the airport and into the main town was also a nice touch. I highly recommend!

- Combination of pool and beach is perfect! Sunset by the beach was one of a kind.- Location is great, in 10 min (by taxi) you can reach downtown or airport and still feel secluded. - Breakfast was good with satisfying variety. = Staff extremely kind and polite with the kids.

- isolation between rooms was not enough. At night we could hear noise from the room next to us.- expected better quality of the shampoo /conditioner provided

The hotel service was very good, the staff was also very helpful. Very good hotel ambiance, the hotel was clean and had halal food. Maybe could improve the gym to be more equipped, but the rest is superb and would definitely recommend others to stay here. Very close to the town and has a car/motorcycle rental place nearby. Maybe could improve more by having more choices and variety of food for breakfast but nevertheless, still good breakfast.

The gym could be more equipped instead of just basic cardio machines. Breakfast could have a bit more food variety. Would have been nice if the spa had a male therapist too :)

Initially, we booked only three nights at Sudamala Resort Komodo, but after the first night, we decided to extend our stay by booking directly with the hotel.We had such an amazing stay—it exceeded all our expectations.The room was spacious, with an outdoor bathroom and shower. The A/C was thoughtfully positioned so that it didn’t blow directly on us while we slept.The bed and pillows were soft and comfortable—I can't remember the last time we slept so well.White towels, bathrobes, flip-flops, a mini fridge, a tea kettle... everything we needed for a lovely stay was provided. Our room also had a private terrace with a sofa, and there was even a bird's nest near the roof. We loved watching the birds come and go.The staff were kind, friendly, and attentive. The room was cleaned twice a day, and in the evening, the beds were turned down, inviting us to sleep. A lovely touch was the scroll placed on the bed each night, featuring a bedtime story based on local folklore. A different story every evening—so thoughtful!I had a chance to visit the spa. The 90-minute signature massage was the right choice for me. The therapist was excellent and ensured my comfort by offering extra pillows, adjusting the temperature, and more. The treatment room was clean and nicely decorated. Highly recommended.My review is getting to long but I want to add a few words about the Wae Rebo Restaurant. Being strict vegetarians, it’s not always easy to find suitable food options. However, the staff were incredibly helpful! They made soo many trips to the kitchen to double-check whether fish sauce or eggs had been added to various vegetable dishes.A special thanks goes to Chef Dian, who was always willing to modify dishes from the existing menu, allowing us to enjoy local delights.As I mentioned, the restaurant staff were amazing—but Gio was our guardian angel. He went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and well-being.

The villa was spectacular!

The resort is beautiful but feels chaotic with so many tourists. Thus, the attention to detail is not what one would expect. The shuttle to the airport can be better organised.

The hotel was very comfortable, clean and quiet. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner and the staff was helpful with guidance on what was gluten free to meet my dietary requirements.The pool bar was a nice touch as were the bean bags on the beach.

Only downside is the infrequent shuttle into town and fairly high expense of a car to get into town.

The property is gorgeous. The staff are very friendly, I enjoyed talking to several of them. The food was delicious, I really enjoyed the fried duck.

My room was quite loud, with recycling glass bottles until almost midnight and a laundry service truck beeping at 7a. Since the restaurant is open air, be prepared with bug spray cause there are tons of mosquitoes.

Sudamala resort is really good... above my expectation.. location is good, private beach where we can borrow kayak or paddle board. the pool is really nice. bed is comfortable and clean. garden is superb... the staff is the highlight.. they super helpful, friendly and they keep moving.. making sure all well. I recommend this hotel to anyone who plans to go to Labuan Bajo.

Our pool villa was wonderful and as you can read in other reviews, the grounds are lovely. But what really sets a resort apart from others is the staff, and here the staff was exceptional! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our hero was Vinsen. The airline had broken the zipper off our main suitcase, effectively making it useless. We went to the front desk, and were told there was no luggage repair in Labuan Bajo. However, Vinsen came from behind the desk and said he would try to fix it. It took until the next day, and he had to get parts from his house during his break, but he fixed it!! It literally saved us, as we would have had to buy a new suitcase (assuming we could even find one for sale). Thank you Vinsen and the rest of the staff!!
