Holiday Inn Express Dujiangyan Ancient City By IHG

The breakfast was surprisingly good. This had a substantially wider selection of food at the hotel breakfast than I had experienced at most hotels in the US, though it was not as good as some of the hotel breakfasts I had experienced elsewhere in China. The location was also really conveniently located near lots of interesting sights and some convenient shopping and food. The staff were quite helpful especially when we needed to get a car to the panda reserve early in the morning.

The room, and especially the bathroom could have been cleaner. The internet wasn't as fast as I would have liked, but it was serviceable. The selection of shows available on TV were rather limited and there wasn't a convenient way to project onto it.

The staff! Quite simply they were amazing, especially Zhang MingLi who helped us every day at breakfast time to plan our day, made a big difference to our trip

Whilst the selection of food was excellent, some additional fruits/nuts/yogurts would have been great, as a vegetarian who avoids bread, for me it was a bit limiting.

Location is great. And breakfast service is good

WI-FI is very weak. The staff is unhappy to remove the fold bed which is not useless in my parent’s room.

The bed is just luxurious. So spacious and the pillows are very comfortable too. The soft floor made the room extra comfy. Clean bathroom and lots of space.Breakfast was great, lots of options to choose from. The location is near the old town, lots of places to eat and visit around. The staff is very friendly and there is always someone who speaks English and willing to help. The view from our room was the best.

Everything was splendid

Location was good, 2 min walking to the ancient city. (by car 15 min to panda base and 30min to qingcheng mountain). Rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was poor but at least had bread, eggs, coffee and fruits for westerners. 7/11 right next door was nice.

Staff barely speaks English (but the ones that do try really hard and are nice). It is policy of the hotel that they cannot call a taxi for their guests. First time hearing this at a hotel and it would actually come in handy since foreigners cannot use taxi apps without a chinese number/bank account. Also, we requested information on how to get to the panda base and it looked like it was the first time they heard about pandas... staff should be informed of the attractions nearby (panda base and qingcheng mountain and even offer some day trips).

Hotel clean, non smoking and no smell at all, staff absolutely friendly with basic English thus no problem at all. I can only recommend. :-)
