    Pros +

    • Beautiful location, amazing food (probably some of the best we had in Laos), amazing staff (staff went out of their way to get us around the area).
    • The Sanctuary totally blew us away. The setting is so beautiful and peaceful. Boun, the Hotel manager was amazing and was always around if you had any questions. He even did the rounds after dinner, making time to get to know all the guests. The Bungalow was spacious, with a whirl pool bath in the rear garden area. We also had a lovely terrace with loungers overlooking the lake. Kayaking and watersports where available, the local village was a mere 20 minutes walk away if you like to experience some 'real life'. The hotel has a small but beautiful swimming pool, and the food at the pool bar and restaurant where amazing! All the staff were really friendly and helpful and the whole resort was immaculate. I would defintely recommend this place if you want a few days of peace and quiet without getting bored.
    • Location vibe and friendly staff

    Cons -

    • Absolutely nothing to dislike about this hotel
    • Menu could improve but it is good. Breakfast is good
    • There wasn't much to dislike other than what the hotel could not control, and that was a large group that descended on the hotel for one night only and stayed up until 2am, making a mess of their room, laughing, talking, and screaming, so that we could not catch a wink. For about 48 hours, another group across the other side of the lake rented a music truck and blared it at all hours of the day non-stop. It was horrific, but again, nothing The Sanctuary could control. It was just unfortunate timing. Ear plugs were our best friends.

This was a gem of a place. We are so pleased we saved this for the last part of our 3-week stay in Laos. We booked four nights in two rooms next to each other over New Year's. The boutique hotel is beautiful in design, layout, and decor. The rooms are spacious and airy, modern and clean. Each of our rooms had a gorgeous view of the lake. The staff were friendly and the manager was helpful. We had our laundry done efficiently here - they even cleaned our dirty trekking shoes! The food was delicious, with many, but not too many, options, and was reasonably priced. We booked massages every day and the main woman did a fine job. We loved the little extras - the paddle boating, Happy Hour, and the quick room cleaning each day. We felt safe and peaceful here, and found it hard to leave. The value for the money here is top-notch. We would stay again and recommend to anyone willing to trek the bumpy road from Vang Vieng, or take a ride from Vientianne. For us, this truly was a "sanctuary," especially after all the other traveling we had done in the country. (hint: we were not in the cities!)

Amazing lakeview, many peaceful, green islands which you can explore with kayak or wooden sup, very tastefull food, quiet and typical village nearby, very helpfull staff who even sent us calendar which we forgot in homestay. Awesome sunsets.

    Nothing, all perfect

Staff was so friendly and helpful. Everything we needed for our baby was provided. The Restaurant is really nice and good, the homemade Baguette was amazing

A lovely resort with lots to do a plenty of peace. The massage we booked was so good we had two. Very helpful and friendly staff.

    Passable

The staff at the front desk is unhelpful and rude. She kept refusing my US bills when I checked out. Those US bills are given from the local bank and she kept complaining those US bills are not brand new.

Hotel is rather tired. Breakfast needs improvement

    Breakfast. Bed not comforable

Lovely people, spacious clean room, nice pool, good range of Lao and Western food (best homemade ice cream ever!), stunning views over the lake (especially around sunset), the kayaks for rent, the guided walk around the village with Boun who spoke v good English but had great insight into local culture…

V bumpy road getting there, but that is true of most of Laos!

Absolut gorgeous spot! Super clean, with great relaxing vacation vibes. Dinner was great, they got happy hours and tasty breakfast. Lots of water activities so it won't get boring :) the Manager Bun was very helpful with great communication from the moment I made the booking. Top place!

Location was in a very beautiful tranquil place.

The road there was a little bumpy but not the resorts problem. Most roads that aren’t in city in Lao is pretty bad

Beautiful place. Tranquil location. Fabulous rooms. Friendly staff. Good food and great facilities - massage, kayak, jet ski

Not easy to get to without a driver perhaps but not a problem for us

Perfect location and view. Nice, well equiped bungalow.

    Nothing to complain

perfect location, the property is surrounded by the lake and the view is wonderful from the Suit, also great nature on ground levels. The food is tasty and they have a variety of dishes from local to western.

Not great to go in dry season, due to lake is at lower level (Weather)

This was a hidden paradise at the end of a dusty bumpy road. Comfortable and private bungalow with sun deck overlooking the reservoir. Views are breathtaking and it's quiet and chilled. Swimming pool was virtually empty during our visit and the sunset boat tour was great, passing fishermen tending their nets and water buffaloes on one of the islands. Would highly recommend.

It would help if the restaurant staff spoke some English to reduce the possibility of getting orders wrong.

We loved it here, so much that we extended our stay. The whole team are outstanding. The facilities are great and the rooms spacious with your own deck to sunbath in. The food is excellent and the menu varied. We also took a half day boat tour, including lunch with Mina (host), Khamta (captain) and Lin (chef), which was blissful and we felt like it was just the 5 of us on the Reservoir.

A lovely location, but let down by the rooms. They are very big, with great views, but stark and grey, no cupboards, drawers or shelves to put your clothes. No suitcase stands until specifically requested. There was one tiny rail, 900mm high with two hangers, so even the shirts trailed on the floor. There were no bedside tables, just a tiny awkward crevice in the wall above the bed. No mirror in the bedroom, no electric socket in the bathroom. Revamp required!

Paradisiac location. Very friendly and available manager. Awesome lake exploration possibilities.

Access to the resort isn’t so easy. 25km from Vang Vieng on bumpy roads. But worth the trip! The staff spoke very little English. We always had to bother the manager for any small requests to be understood.
