Silver Naga Hotel

The view on the riverside was exceptional. The staff was friendly and helpful in booking activities.

The room was filled with bugs. There were even bugs in my sheets. There was also a lizard in my room at one point. Some of the towels had stains on them. The air conditioning would turn off in the middle of the night no matter what the settings were. When I left the AC on during the day while I was gone, the maids would turn it off if they came while I was away. I also had issues paying because their card reader was broken.

Great location and potential. But needs some TLC to bring it back to par standard. Especially the breakfast, the cleanliness, the showers, the door locks, etc.

Beautiful view of the river from my small, private balcony. The hotel has a yoga studio on site, and I highly recommend the sunset yoga set on a farm just a short walk away from the property. The room was spacious and clean. The riverside patio/deck was a lovely space to sit and relax or work.

The poolside and riverside bars rarely were mostly unattended, even during the advertised happy hour from 5pm to 7pm . Even if you brought your own beverage to sit by the river and watch a sunset, there was no ice and no glass and no one to help you find them. For ice you have to ask at the reception desk and when they are not busy they may be able to get you some from the kitchen. The included breakfast was just ok.

The pool was dirty, didn’t go for a swim.

View was amazing as always. Staff, especially Pong and the local ladies, were very helpful arranging for vehicle hires from and to the railway station.

Building seems very old. In-room facilities seem to be lacking maintenance, i.e. bathroom facilities, tiles, paint, AC). Bedsheets were stained.

The location and the pool are brilliant

TV didn't work during our entire stay and the prostitutes next door yelling in the middle of the night didn't make up for no TV

One of the original Riverside hotels before vang vieng became spoiled by unplanned over development - so nice view from front rooms

Property is tired and in need of some maintenance ang freshening up. The ancient AC units take an hour or so to cool the room down. Bathroom looks like one from a $10 guesthouse. Ground floor bathrooms filthy.Fridge tiny and barely functioningFor just under $100 for a family room this is poor value compared to newer properties in town.

Very old dated room. Extremely poor bed and lumpy cheap pillows.

The only positive was the staff let me cancel the second night without charge.

Where do I begin.The room was extremely dirty, and website photos didn't look like the room at all. There was an unlockable door to the next room that I had to jam shut with an ironing board, mould and grime in shower + bathroom, toilet was running non-stop, had to hit the cistern to fix.I didn't actually sleep at all, kept the lights on as it did not feel secure or safe, and didn't dare go inside the bed.

Good location - hotel ok - good pool - otherwise just ok -

Staff was ok, not great - everything took longer than it should have - waiting 1 1/2 hours for food at dinner and had to ask for their help to get van tickets 2 times - but them meant well

It is ideal location to walk around during evening and night.Night market and restaurants are very walking distance

Pool is great. View of the nearby mountains a real pleasure. We were able to order a bus to Vientiane with pickup at the hotel at the reception, very convenient. Breakfast with fresh made eggs or omelet was very nice.

When we wanted happy hour cocktails, the bartender didn't show up for 5 or 10 minutes, then had to go somewhere outside the hotel to buy ice! Cocktails were ok but didn't have much alcohol.Room service forgot to clean our room. Cleaning not so essential but new toilet paper and bottles of water would have been nice.The long tail boats heading past morning and evening are pretty loud but the hotel can't do anything about that.

Awful news experience, we checked in at 16.30pm ( check in is from 2pm) to find our room not even cleaned or ready, toldTo wait for them to clean even though we have been travelling all day. They loved us to an upgrade and room with a bath that they originally wanted to charge us $30 a night for… yes I might have had a bath but no tap to fill it, the entire room looked old, dated and dirty. The bed linen looked almost yellow! The view was nice but that was all I’m afraid.Breakfast was all served cold they had heat lamps under each metal dish but nothing was on, even the rice, noodles etc they served was all stone cold. Overall this hotel from the pictures that they put online and make it look like it’s a palace it’s a very old, dirty and run down place and not great facilities. I would not visit again

Great location and the view of the mountains is stunning.

Our room was filthy and nothing like the photos, 2 star standard. The communal areas were also shabby. When we complained to the staff we were ignored.

The staff were lovely and very helpful. The breakfast was nice. If you picked a riverside room you would probably enjoy your stay. Close to everything as it is opposite Walking Street.

The cheaper road side rooms, in which we stayed, were incredibly noisy with no closeable real door to the outside, but rather a mesh screen as a door. No balcony. It was quite worn out and missing expected room furniture or items.

The location is fantastic but you do need to book a river view room to take advantage of the scenery, The rooms with balcony overlook the pool and river and karsts. The room itself could do with updating and the door was malfunctioning- took brute strength to open when we were leaving! The breakfast was great- a variety of fruits, cereals, made-to-order eggs, bread. Can’t comment on the curries! The staff organised transfers and excursions all done well. The yoga classes were really good and well worth the $10.

The terrace by the pool needs some attention- more and comfortable furniture. No loungers!? Hammocks are not comfy. Hardly any shade. The chairs to the table by the bar did not fit under it - very uncomfortable.

Comfortable bed, good breakfast and great location. Pong was extremely helpful in arranging tuk tuk transfer from the train station and advising and arranging things for our onward journey to Vientiane.

The Silver Naga could do with refurbishment but we knew this in advance as it was our 2nd stay.
