    Pros +

    • The ambiance was amazing. I loved the amenities (though we did not stay long enough to enjoy them). The yukatas they provided fit us! It has been hard for us to find any clothing that fits so it was really great! Absolute highlight of our trip.
    • I LOVED the property , and the location. The view from the annex across the valley is next level. The footpath at the bar is SO cool. Also, the public onsen is great. The rooms are fabulous. And generous in size.
    • Terrific location exceptional staff and onsen is terrific. Flexible in dining times which was very helpful.

    Cons -

    • The only complaint is maybe the bugs. Found a couple in our room, but it?s the type of environment that has a lot of bugs, so I don?t fault the hotel.
    • As kiwis/aussies, we’ve dined as much as possible at different Japanese venues, but this was next level. We really didn’t like any of the food offerings at the included dinners and breakfast. No other offerings either. Yes I know, when in Rome, but they just weren’t to our taste, at all, and not a single western option at breakfast. There is an amazing cafe directly across the road that has good breakfast options.
    • The property didn’t inform us that we had to pick a vegetarian meal option 3 days in advance and did nothing to accommodate us or refund us last minute. We had to figure out our own food in a town where things close early.

Good room and private onsen tub in the room

Great location, very close to Gora Station and easy access to sites around Hakone. Our room was terrific, with a wonderful view and a hot tub on the balcony. The beds were comfortable and the room spacious. We had a free drink each night at the foot bath bar. They arranged for us to have a vegetarian Kelsey for both dinner and breakfast. Everyone was polite and helpful.

So close to stationFood was beyond expectation!!Bath was so hot!! Private bath also great! Special touch w foot bath (difficult to get up for older people though)

Would have loved to have a take home momento ie towel or tenugui with name of hotel.

The location was great and the extra amenities such as the welcome drink in the foot bath bar and one free private Onsen were really nice. The private in-room onsen and foot bath, and the size of the room was really nice with a lot of extra towels, tea, drinks etc. Overall it was a highlight of our trip.

The dinner felt a little rushed but was still good nonetheless. Several areas around the property looked like they needed a little extra care (cleaning or painting).

    No onsen

Gross drained pool out back. Never shown the inside facilities. No opportunity for hot spring experience at all.

    3EileenPosted on: 12-4-2025

Robes were nice. Breakfast was nice. That was about it.

I got ringworm from the open-air outdoor tub. It obviously wasn’t sanitized between visits. Ringworm appeared on my arms where they came in contact with the tub. Disgusting and it’s taken weeks of treatment to get rid of it. Also, when we sat down for dinner there was raw pork on the table. We thought it was raw fish and ate a piece. The waitress came over after and turned on a burner so the pork could be cooked. Luckily, we didn’t get sick but I would never serve raw pork on a table without either telling guests what it was or turning on the burner. Lastly, the room was ridiculously expensive and overpriced. Beware if you take the bus there. You have to lug your luggage up dozens of steps to get to the property. There were no cabs in sight. It was awful.

Great and clean facilities. Excellent location being close walking distance to Gora station (major hub on the Hakone loop).

I really enjoy the amenities available and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We had the breakfast included in our stay and it was delicious!

The property is not near any restaurants that are convenient to eat at. For example, most places are small and could not take many customers. Another place was said to open at a certain time on Google but did not open until an hour later. Not their fault but it would’ve been nice to know that we should have also added the dinner option to our stay.

Facility and room with private onsen very nice, front desk mostly unhelpful, food terrible

Though beautifully presented, the food was terrible. We had breakfast (slightly better) and dinner on two days, both their traditional and vegetarian offerings. We spent three weeks in Japan at nine different locations and enjoyed every meal during our trip except our meals at Tensui Saryo. Do yourself a favor and do NOT partake of their food plan. There is a lovely cafe literally a few steps away. Go there instead. The atmosphere, food and drink at the cafe are wonderful.

the size of the room was great, nice view, great shower, nice size bathroom. The lobby bar was a delightful experience and was a highlight of our stay.

Not being able to get out of eating in the restaurant. We signed up for two dinners and two breakfasts the afternoon of our arrival. After the first night's dinner, we tried to cancel our second night's dinner, but the dining room wouldn't let us cancel. We were able to finally talk to the staff and they let us only pay for one dinner on the second night, even though we didn't eat there at all. Not a good situation, and it was something we have not experienced at any other hotel.

Good Japanese experience but the bed was painful

The mattress on the floor nearly killed our backs. Very uncomfortable. We couldn't buy breakfast

    9HerbertPosted on: 11-7-2025

I liked everything about it. The location was perfectly situated near restaurants, train station, and a variety of shops. The property is clean, classy, and had a beautiful Japanese cultural touch.

    I have no complaints.

    10RonniPosted on: 11-4-2025

The whole atmosphere was terrific. So authentic. Loves the kimonos and shoes that we got to wear throughout the hotel, plus all the additional robes and pajamas in the room as well as amazing fresh coffee beans and the outdoor onsen really made us feel like we were in Japan.

Stunning location with beautiful Mountain View’s from our room. The hospitality of the staff was above and beyond. The daily happy hour with free drinks and snacks along with the meals were excellent. Use of private onsen was easy to reserve and stunning.
