- Very pretty property in a little secluded side of the mountain, even saw a deer right outside our room window. Very clean , very cozy environment, and just an amazing room. The food is also so good!
- Best hotel experience I've ever had in my life, by a wide margin. The property was amazing, rooms were spotless and very well designed. Staff was insanely nice, and it felt like we were floating on clouds the entire time. Both dinner and breakfast were exquisite.
- Excellent hotel, great facilities and amazing food, specially for dinner
Cons -
- It was perfect - I don't think it could have been better.
- Should have more western options, mainly for breakfast and coffee options
- Room/bathroom is very damp. Our room was a corner suite and the bedroom had no window but the sitting room had a window. The location is a bit out of the way.

Everything was spectacular! The in room hot springs bath was exceptional and much needed after a week in Tokyo! Food was amazing and the service was top notch.
Beautiful property and wonderful experience from start to finish. Food was delicious. Staff very helpful, kind and friendly. Onsen (in the room and public) were beautiful. So quiet and serene. Wish we stayed an extra day to really relax!
Nice staff. Good food.

The atmosphere, the private onsen, the bath products and scents, the staff, the meals; 5 star
No complaints
Beautiful hotel with private and public onsen. Rooms were beautiful and spacious. TV did not really work but we used the casting fiction to watch apps. Slippers and pajamas given to use around the hotel. Dinner was fantastic we had the wine flight which were all very good. The private onsen was wonderful and in the morning we had a beautiful view over the hills.
The hotel was very far away from the station - 40 mins by bus. Apparently there is a shuttle service from Gora station but we didn’t know this. We had walked 30 mins up steep steps from the bus stop and it was so uphill we couldn’t walk any further with our luggage. We ended up using a locals phone to call the hotel and they came to pick us up. I asked to be dropped at the bus stop in the morning which was met with some push back from the staff but eventually they agreed as if they were doing us a favour. It was only 2 mins more down the hill. We arrived later than we wanted due to the location, around 7 and I had booked our dinner for 8.30. We were pressured into moving our dinner forward to 7.30, which was a shame as I had wanted to enjoy the onsen before dinner. The breakfast was traditional Japanese with no choice and unfortunately it was too much for us in the morning - miso soup/raw fish/squid/savory custard… I only ate the rice and felt so bad as there was so much waste. It would have been better to be given some options as done for the dinner to prevent waste.
Everything fantastic. Service, food, room. Absolutely amazing experience. Great service for children as well.
Great stay and service. We really appreciated how well they treated the vegetarians in our group. Japanese food is typically not vegetarian friendly but here the chefs went out of their way to prepare delicious vegetarian (no fish broth!) kaiseki meals for us. In some of the courses, the veg options were even better than the non-veg ones.
The property is close to some amazing hikes and trails, but they didn't really provide any suggestions or ideas. I think most guests either stay at the resorts itself or explore by car.
Great food, private onsen was wonderful
Check in and check out process was a little drawn out. If you’re in a hurry to get anywhere, make sure you have adequate time.
Love the room and the private onsen. Staff were courteous and helpful. Very good English too. The waitress are attentive to our needs! Wish to come back again!
Very hard to book, sold out on most seasons ! Book early! It is costly but worth the experience.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Tepanyaki is very delicious. The onsen in room is so good.
Fufu Hakone provides a five-star Japanese Onsen hotel experience. I loved almost every aspect of the hotel except the location, lol. But the free shuttle service is quite helpful as well. We used the shuttle to travel between the hotel and Gora station before check-in and from the hotel to Sōunzan station when we checked out. The service of the hotel was professional, polite, respectful, and personally oriented. It was a very impressive stay. The Japanese Kaiseki Ryori was delicious and artfully presented. We only spent one night at the hotel because we were informed that the rooms were fully booked the next day, we would definitely come back for our holidays to Japan.
Location. You cannot travel using public transportation without the free shuttle service.
Super clean private onsen, superb staff services, huge room, nice meals, free parking
The hotel charged me extra for my children's meals when I have already clearly indicated the number of pax in booking.com.
There is HK staff in the restaurant which adds much value to my stay in Fufu. She explains clearly about the food which makes the dinner much more enjoyable!!And nice room, nice services, nice facilities as other Fufu. Always feel enjoyable for staying in Fufu☺️
Nothing at all.
Best accommodation of our Japan trip. The staff are extremely nice, understanding and polite. The room is very clean and they would change the private onsen water daily if you would like so. The breakfast and dinner are excellent - tasty and huge portion. Will definitely stay at Fufu if we visit Hakone again.
Maybe to consider reducing the food portion.
Lovely experience in a modern take of a Japanese inn. Beautiful views, great rooms, very supportive staff.
Included meals were traditional Japanese, but rather extensive and beautifully presented. As an older person it was way too much food.
Fantastic private onsen in room, big enough for two people to stretch out in. Dinner was very delicious as well. Staff were attentive and friendly.
We requested Western breakfast but were told that was only available on a second night stay (we were only there for one night.) We had just had the traditional Japanese dinner the night before so the Japanese breakfast so soon after was a bit much for our taste. The food was very good however.
The Japanese style is very good; but the western style is so so
No garden or outdoor sitting area that you can walk around. The public hot spring area is very small. The Japanese style breakfast n dinners are very good.
