good size room for two, clean pool and public bath, healthy and yummy breakfast,handsome European style interior.

Only three choices of having dinner, 1. reserve restaurant's set dinner, 2. get food in Gora before returning hotel, 3. instant ramen at hotel's store. We were quite hungry one night!

The breakfast was very good. While there was a salad buffet, the main course was a choice of 2 options. We would have preferred a buffet for the ability to choose.The onsen was wonderful and we enjoyed the pool. I do feel the public onsen should have an age restriction. On one occasion, there were 2 younger children in the onsen and they were treating it as a pool. We were there to relax, not have children playing.We also thoroughly enjoyed the private onsen in our room.

Beyond the restaurant, there are no close food options. We ate at the restaurant our first night. We enjoyed it but it would have been too pricey for another dinner for my family of 5. We took a taxi to a restaurant a few minutes away and picked up carry out for our family. I wish the shuttle ran more frequently and made a couple of stops.

Nol Hakone Myojindai was excellent all the way around. By far the best accommodation we stayed at in Japan and we are looking forward to returning. The beds were very comfortable, the staff was incredibly hospitable, the thermal pool and private onsens were divine, and the dinners we had at the on-site restaurant were some of the best meals we have ever eaten. I will recommend nol to anyone visiting Hakone or looking for a luxurious onsen getaway.

The location is lovely but makes it difficult to leave for a quick bite or to explore Hakone, unless you have pre-arranged a ride on the limited hours shuttle or you brought your own vehicle.

The room itself was amazing. The beds were so comfortable! We booked the room with the open air private onsen and it was 100% worth it. The hotels provided robes, toiletries, FREE laundry self service, PJs to wear, hotel slippers, you name it! It was an extremely well thought out comfortable room. I loved it. The breakfast was epic. They had very carefully selected ingredients and dishes that you knew were of high quality. Coffee was amazing. Another HUGE perk was their self service tea and coffee bar! You could make your own drinks whenever you wanted and just relax in their lobby overlooking the nature outside. I wouldn't change a thing!

The dinner! I feel like it could be better. Some dishes lacked flavor, or were too westernized.

The walls were so thin we could hear everything outside the room and that was the opposite of relaxing

Great fresh breakfast ingredients! Dinner courses were very thought out and gourmet. Transportation from hotel to Gora station and back by van provided by hotel. Rooms were very clean and elegant. Would stay again.

Perhaps maybe the onsen could be a little more steamier or dimmer.

The rooms are huge and feels like home. The quality of the breakfast was good although there's not much varieties but it's good enough. The environment is serene but the wall between the rooms are quite thin so we could hear the conversation in the next room.

The location is a bit remote unless you drive.

The booking system for the shuttle service, my recommendation would be to make it first come first serve.

Staff was friendly, rooms were clean and Onsen is great.

There are no food options in the hotel and nothing walking distance.

The chef was exceptional - farm to table food was delicious.

The property itself was beautiful and very modern

Shower wasn’t clean, when it got steamy you could see a single swipe of a cloth was done to clean the shower stall but the rest was covered in water spots, makes me wonder how clean the tubs are.

Breakfast was delightful — a variety of options that felt fresh and local — and served in a lovely dining room with views of the hotel grounds and the surrounding mountains.

Additional vegan / vegetarian options would have been excellent (many of the vegetable dishes contained fish, stock, or some other ingredient that prevented them from being vegetarian), and I found the coffee in the cafe au lait station to be on the weaker side. However, those are likely not major concerns for most guests, the latter being especially trivial.

The small things that can make your stay so much nicer !!1. Since we added another night to the first 2 nts , we had to pay a fortune cause they said only big suits were left.These suits arent that comfortable, and the hot tub in the balcony was empty, they dont leave you bath robe and towels near by.Food was rather expensive ,beautifuly served , but tasted so,soAfter the first added night, we were moved to the original room which was much nicer for half the price.No gymOnsen water is only hot sprig water,,, no big deal;(

Too far from town and then shuttle only ran from 9:30-4:30 and it’s difficult to get a taxi. Communication was poor because they used several different people to communicate and they all gave different responses. Staff was nice when we finally got there, thoughBreakfast was the worst we’ve had in 3 weeks. Tried to combine Western & Japanese and neither were good. Should just stick with Japanese cuisine

Family of 4 with 2 kids. Both our boys enjoyed the stay just as much as us. Great salad options for breakfast, not a huge variety as is a boutique hotel but everything served are delicious. Love the all day free drinks bar and spacious lounge area. There is free shuttle to and from Gora station. The free laundry service is great. Room is beautiful and bed is comfy. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Would love to see more kids friendly option at breakfast bar. Would be great to have more laundry machine as there are only 2 machines provided.

Everything. We had a car so the location was very convenient for us, close to all the interesting things in Gora and a short drive away from a convenience store and a bunch of restaurants.

Without a car, I can imagine that you might be more limited as you need to go down a hill along a narrow winding road and then climb another one to get to/from Gora or even a convenience store. Either that or be dependent on taxis/shuttles.

Beautiful property with every detail attended to. The staff was so helpful. The lobby has an amazing drink bar. The room was beautiful.

It’s sometime hard to get a taxi and it was difficult to get reservations for dinner. Plan ahead.

Beautiful and relaxing.

Shuttle frequency - the hotel is located in a beautiful yet remote location, so without a car you rely on taxies or the hotel shuttles. However, despite the fact that taxies are quite hard to find there, the hotel sends out a shuttle every 30 minutes, which can take 6-7 persons only. So we found ourselves waiting more than 30 minutes each time until we found a taxi to go out of the hotel.
