Very convenient location for sight seeing and limousine bus stop
This hotel was one of our Japan trip highlights. We loved the hotel, food, onsen and view. It is definitely worth the stay. Excellent costumer service, having the shuttle bus was very convenient to tour the Hakone Attractions. We were unlucky to have cloudy days and were not able to see Fuji during the daytime, however our stay saved the Mt Fuji view as we were able to see it straight from our hotel window at sunset and sunrise.
we liked everything
They offer a breakfast that was very traditional. It was neat. It was a nice walk to town, using the path by the lake. Close to the Tori gate a the temple. The onsen was really clean and offered quietness and relaxation.
Price was a slightly higher for what offered
Beds were comfy. Breakfast was wonderful.
Shuttle service wasn't reliable. Staff was not responsive to tourists needs.
We stayed 2 nights in December 2025 at the hotel. The view from hotel terrace of Mt Fuji was fantastic. Our room overlook Lake Ashi and the garden of the resort, it was beautiful to wake up every morning to see that view. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The dinner at both Japanese and French restaurants were delicious and serve with such care. I would suggest whoever comes to stay at this hotel should stay 2 nights so that you can enjoy dinner at both restaurants. Easy access to many areas of attraction from the hotel.
Amazing facilities including the bathing area, French and Japanese restaurants, bar, observatory, garden. Helpful staff and great rooms.
Beautiful grounds. View of Mt Fuji. Great shuttle service to take you from the town to the hotel. Delious breakfast and dinner included in the price. Helpful staff.
The place is beautiful, well kept, the staff is excellent with an outstanding level of service, the room is large and spacious, the food in the restaurant was amazing
The location and views of the lake are amazing. The breakfast was really fancy and delicious. It is a set menu, with 3 choices of mains. You go to either one restaurant for Japanese cuisine or another for western style. I would recommend the French toast in the western. The rooms had quite a few nice amenities and the building is a mix of old and new, which was beautiful. The gardens are so pretty and the onsen (no tattoos) was very nice with many amenities provided. The service was excellent, as well! We would stay there again if we found a good price.
The price was a bit steep for what you get and the beds were far too firm, with springs you could feel when you lay on them. The carpets in the hallways could use a bit of cleaning.
Loved my stay at Hotel de Yama - beautiful lakeside location, gorgeous onsen, old style charm and delicious breakfast included.
It's a little tricky to get to if you are not familiar with Hakone.
Beautiful property close to Mount Fuji.Old world flair. Washing machines conveniently in hotel. Two restaurants on premises. Peak season for colors.
Not easy to get here- we took a car service from our hotel in Tokyo.
An exceptional location overlooking Ashi Lake, a few steps from the famous lake toril and from the legendary Samurai Walk in the forest along the shores of Lake Ashi. An enchanting garden with a beautiful view of the Fuji Yama when it is not cloudy. A comfortable Onsen open almost around the clock, with indoor and outdoor basins, sauna and massage chairs. A free shuttle bus to the center of Motohakone. Two excellent Japanese and French restaurants. Competent and helpful staff who offered a much better alternative arrangement for the next leg of our travel. Three nights were not enough for enjoying this enchanting place. We'll come back.
Beautiful property and gorgeous view from the room. Very nice hotel with decent size rooms, comfortable beds. Very clean. The food was great, we had two breakfasts and two Japanese dinners, and they were different. The public onsen is very nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The old carpet might be due for replacement, but it was minor and didn't bother us
The Onsen was super nice, one of the highlights of my stay. The view from the hotel was also gorgeous, I could see Mt. Fuji from my room window. The hotel is in the midst of extended gardens so it is nice and quiet, and the gardens are pretty.
When I first arrived, the check in lady pushed me to book dinner reservations at the hotel for each night, since she said there was really no place to eat at night in the town and no shuttle bus after 5pm. I ate at the Japanese restaurant the first night, which was nice, but it cost $75, which is a bit much for someone who is traveling alone. The next two nights I ate at the Terrace restaurant in town, which was a third of the cost and excellent. I walked to the hotel after, which was only a 15 minute walk. I opted to go to the included breakfast at the French restaurant. Options for the breakfast were somewhat boring, so I then upgraded for extra money, which seemed crazy to me since it was included. The staff for breakfast were somewhat disorganized on each day, for example my meal showed up after someone who sat down after me, and I had to ask for coffee twice. The hotel itself was very dated. The furnishings in the room definitely needed a complete refresh, including the carpet. However the rooms were very clean. Also, I tried to ask at the front desk about what to do while I was there, and they provided little advice, so I basically used the Internet to figure everything out Overall I would not recommend anyone to stay at the hotel; I did love Hakone, I would just find a different hotel to stay at.
Everything was amazing. The staff were very courteous and welcoming right from the door. The hospitality was amazing. Well positioned to start the Hakone loop from Lake Ashi and close to the Hakone Shrine. I really loved my stay!
Absolutely nothing
Beautiful. Great view. Very walkable
Onsen
The room was clean, comfortable, and had a great view. We liked the Onsen. Breakfast was good.
The breakfast omelet was slightly undercooked.
The dinner we had in the hotel European restaurant was absolutely wonderful. The steak was the best we had ever eaten and the service was excellent. The breakfasts were wonderful as well.
The lack of English being spoken by the staff. They need to have an iPad translator available to use for communication purposes.
