Bamboo @ Koh Chang Resort & Restaurant

The location is perfect. Right on the beach, shops right outside the front. The room we had was as pictured in the photos. It’s run down but adequate.

We had two rattan chairs on our balcony that had holes in the seat but were covered by pillows. The hotel itself is run down. The small reception area is filled with boxes and supplies so is not very welcoming. Same with the restaurant, lots of boxes & supplies everywhere. Most of the time the restaurant was closed whilst we were there. There is loungers & chairs you can use on the beach but staff do not put these out (as other hotels nearby do), you have to do yourself.Our biggest issue was the poor service. Firstly, it was hard to identify who was staff there & therefore who to ask when we needed something or wanted to ask a question. There was no hotel uniform. Staff do not greet you with a smile, in fact they seemed to actively avoid guests. All of the staff besides the manager do not speak any English. That would be ok if only there was someone around who could help with guest requests but unfortunately there was not.One day we saw another guest trying to ask for some help with something of a staff member who had very limited English. The staff member appeared to be getting angry with the guest and the guest was very frustrated.We really wanted to like it here but the lack of service, messy common areas & rundown facilities let down this hotel. It seems to me that this hotel could be something really good if these issues were addressed. It appears like they have lost the love for this place… & it shows.This hotel could be vastly improved if:- The reception & restaurant areas were cleaned up and all junk was removed- If the junk outside the rooms next to the beach (which appeared to be occupied by staff) were also cleaned up. - If rooms were updated-If there were English speaking staff available-If staff wore uniforms so guests can identify who they are-If staff overall smiled and said Sawasdee (even if they can’t speak English). A little bit of friendliness goes a long way.

The lady who was on the front door, Ying, was exceptional. She couldn’t do enough to make my stay fantastic, even sewed a button to my shirt. My room was right On The Beach, fantastic. The meals were great. The beer was called could not fault this place and will definitely return.

We liked the locations and access to the beach. The pool was great too. Our room was quaint and clean. The hotel was quiet and was easy to sleep there.

The bed was a little hard. The bathroom floor was always wet because of the shower. Really no big deal.

Location and price are great. Staff is accommodating and easy going.

Great location with very friendly staff. fantastic location with evening meals set up on the beech..(with selection of fresh fish) all very good..10/10.Hopefully come back some day..

4 nights stay and no cleaning nor new towels in those days.

Simple and clean spot with perfect location. Staff is friendly. They let you live and enjoy the vacation. 7/11, pharmacy, restaurants, massage etc. everything walkable in under 5 minutes. Stunning sunsets. For everyone who wants a quiet spot and to be left alone but also close to every desire during your stay, it’s perfect. WiFi worked perfectly. Would come back any time.

On site restaurant is poor (sanitised food flavours) with undrinkable coffee

The swimming pool wasn’t clean and staff is quite noisy.

The location is right on the beach. Good for swimming. Beautiful. The staff is lovely

The bed was not good. There was a smell from the bathroom. There need a little maintenance here and there, like a paint for the pool.

Room with pool view balcony very nice and clean. Brand new good bed. Nice pool and hotel was on the beach.Very helpful and good staff. Good breakfast.

Wi-Fi very slow or didn`t work

Great accommodation right on the beach with pool and restaurant and 2 min walk to shops.All staff are so very friendly... I hope to visit again

The food was a bad , I not book next time this hotel , where is no Swedish table in the morning time for breakfast , all have you to do just choose menu

Location was great, right on the beach

Unfortunately we had to move out after one night as they started building work right above our room. The owner was very apologetic and gave us a refund for 3 of the nights out of four.

The location is amazing and near everywhere you would want it to be. Being in the seafront makes this a beautiful place to stay.

The facilities felt a bit run down and not well maintained. Everything felt a bit old and past its best. The fact that there is no bar or restaurant when there obviously was once one there is a bit sad too. Ot would’ve been nice to have not had to leave the hotel for food and drinks every night.

First the rate is more high the room is completely different of the pictures the aircond is very bad

Nothing I like unfortunately I didn't take any pictures for any thing because in the same day I was running around looking for other hotel

Too expensive for what it was. Old rooms in need of refurbishing. No daily cleaner.

Very nice family hotel. Very friendly! Nice Pool and straight at the beach (when it's low tide) with enough bars and restaurants. Great little restaurant and massage salon at the hotel. Every thing you need!

People may find the matrasses to hard or the room too basic but for me it was perfect!

Staff was excellent, owners not.

Hotel seemed a construction site, however that might be due to the past Covid hardship. Bit expensive though.
