Facilities exceptional. Room was perfect - everything just worked. Front desk staff were helpful, friendly, and still professional. Breakfast was outstanding.

It is a shame that no evening meals were being offered, at the time of our stay. Great selection of restaurants nearby, but nothing available internally.

Excellent location in the city center. Fabulous room. Excellent Breakfast with omelette to your choice. Fitness room is a plus.

Very good location, right in the center of Essen. Rooms were spacious and clean. The bed was large and comfy. The reception staff was nice and helpfull.

The room felt a bit “empty”. The atmosphere could be done better, but this only matters if you stay in the room a lot. One thing I do want to mention is that the cleaning lady came inside my room without knocking and I was undressed. This made me very uncomfortable. My husband spoke to her after to ask if she could come back later but her tone wasn’t very nice and she said that we had to ask the reception. So housekeeping staff could do better

A great location to explore Essen. We visited for the the Christmas Markets. Had a great evening and we finished it off at the HofBrau beer hall. Stayed at this hotel twice now. A fine breakfast.

The hotel parking was full so had to park in the car park opposite at a cost of €28. That was a bit pricey and the car park is not very clean. this would not however put me off staying at the hotel again.

Location was good

The room wasn’t cleaned for a while, there was a lot of dust, hair and area around the coffee machine was dirty. When we arrived (after the begin of advertised check-in) the room was not ready and it was chaotic.

Room was great, really nice decor, very clean, comfy bed and great shower. There was a good choice of tea with a kettle and a free bottle of water to consume.

Only thing to make it better would be a coffee machine in the room!

Very central. Next ti christmas market. Nice personal, clean. Decent breakfast. Nothing to complain inside the hotel.

But their parking is always full, therefore you might need to the other parking on the other side. Which is very creepy, and full of homeless and junkies. Homeless people walking in front of the hotel, and during breakfast a lovely view of homeless peeing and looking at you while you eat.

Excellent location in the center of Essen and easy to reach from the highway A40. Shops and Christmas market only a few minutes walking away from the hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel and room are very clean and modern and room contains all necessary amenities. Breakfast is also excellent.

Only remark we have is that the hotel has very limited car parking places available. Also the hotel apparently has a limited contingency of discounted car parking places in the very large Q Park across the street. Same means that when the hotel is fairly fully booked, the full fare of the Q Park applies, which is € 1,70 per hour during our stay or maximum € 17 per day, but to note is that Q Park counts the day from 00:00 - 24:00 ! In case of an overnight stay, even if actually parked 24 hours or less, Q Park charges 2 x € 17 = € 34 for an overnight stay, which is exorbitant ! We notified the hotel, which is not to blame for this, about this unfair practice of Q Park, possibly due to the policy of the City of Essen and we can only hope that a fair solution is found for this. Hotel Management, please solve this ! In our opinion the hotel, however, should make this more clear on their website, so that hotel guests are aware of such high parking fare, which could be applicable when the hotel is fairly fully booked, well in advance prior booking and not afterwards when picking up their car !

Great location easy walk from the train station and quite near the Christmas market. Room was nice, bed was comfortable. There was a greeting area on the check in level with bottled water, fruit and some candies, so very welcoming

Great staff, spotless rooms, and excellent facilities. The staff even set aside a room for guests to play board games during Spiel, a thoughtful touch that really added to the experience.

Quite expensive, but understandable given that it’s the biggest board game event of the year!

The staff are very helpful and friendly. We had a problem during our stay and the staff were extremely helpful and reassuring. They went out of their way to help us.

The breakfast wasn’t as good as last year. The options were better last year and better quality food. Also during the early breakfast, food ran out and had to wait a bit before it was refreshed.

Private parking and easy access to the roads. Perfect for a couple of nights. All the facilities are clean, the staff is friendly.

Located quite centrally, however it gets busy with late night drinkers. It has a small convenience store, but the prices are steep.

I am completely disappointed with NH Essen hotel regarding my situation. My reservation was for three days, but unexpected incident occurred right on that time of our arrival. My friend's daughter fell ill and had to have surgery on next day. Upon learning this, we decided to leave earlier than planned. My friend had to be with his daughter in this difficult situation. Due to this, we asked hotel to rebook for two days instead of three, but the hotel refused our request, despite my explanations. We know that everyone has children, and this could happen to any of us. But ultimately, we should understand the situation of the father of a child undergoing surgery and support him in every possible way in such situations. However, neither the reception nor the hotel management understood us, citing the hotel's booking rules. We paid for three days and stay only two. In conclusion, I want to say that I will never stay at this hotel again or recommend it to anyone.
