Garner Hotel Essen Handelshof by IHG

The location and the cleanliness

For some reason we could not get the AC to work properly but that was not a big deal, we opened the windows as it was nice and cool outside.

The location was excellent being right across from the train and underground stations, easy access to cabs and lots of restaurants and shopping nearby.

Two things. First, it did not have a store of any kind, so there was no access to water, aspirin, snacks or other miscellaneous needs on the premises. Second, the heat and temperature were centrally controlled so my room stayed too hot and dry for me.

Great hotel service, location is good

Parking situation not very good, have to take a 5min walk down the streets to get to the garage and wasnt very accessible.

Very good

Breakfast very simple. Except of that - very nice hotel in a perfect location.

Nice location, clean spacious room, friendly staff and good price

The location is nice and quiet, staff is very helpful and breakfast was sufficient

Nothing about the hotel but by the time, there is ongoing construction surrounding so if you arrive by car you would have difficulty to find parking

Its a great hotel! Really friendly staff and very accommodating. I have booked a second stay with them!

All was great

Front desk helped quickly to resolve issue of noises from other guests.

The color scheme of the room is really good. Desk chair is comfortable. The front desk guy is really sweet

1. Right opposite Bahnhof.2. Metro stop is around the corner. 3. Good breakfast. 4. Attentive staff.5. Clean rooms and daily room service. 6. Eating options in the vicinity. 7. There is a small fridge as well.

It would have been good to have a coffee machine or kettle in the room.

People at the reception and breakfast are very friendly and flexible. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Good value for money.

The location was perfect, the staff were very nice, and the room was comfortable and clean.

Location Historic pre war hotelComfortable roomFriendly and helpful staff

There was an issue with the heating in my original room but the room was changed in good time.

Comfortable beds, nice view

Dirty coffeemaker, no soap in the bathroom (just shampoo). One of the receptionists, an older blond lady, could barely speak English and was unnecessarily rude to me and it really left a negative mark on an otherwise magical Christmas holiday

Clean, Central, Friendly Staff, nice food.

Parking was difficult to get to because of roadworks which made it difficult to get to and from

Perfect location, minutes from the train station. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful. Clean room. Can only recommend.

Clean room, convenient location, and friendly service!

Well appointed rooms and great staff. Secured extra coffee from cleaners and they punted the VIP sign up as though they were part of the marketing team. Proud of their hotel.

Noise from the pedestrian zone late night

Good breakfast. Easy to adjust heat controls in the room. Comfortable bed with good pillows. (Not the usual almost useless thin down filled pillows in most German hotels)

I was out of the room from 09:30 until 16:00. At 16:15 the room cleaner knocked on the door to clean the room. I declined. Just a very minor issue. I am sure I could have arranged an earlier room cleaning, if required.
