Pros +
- clean room, big tv screen
- Room is clean and neat. Walking distance from train station.
- We were about 400 meters away from Essen Hauptbanhof which was what was advertised. This is perfect as we had heavy luggages. Check-in was easy. Breakfast was great.
Cons -
- room and bathroom were small, a bit too expensive for what you get (no breakfast included)
- Room size is a small.
- The hotel had no WiFi which is unlike any other hotel I have stayed for the past 20 years. This is one of the most basic item any guest will be looking for.

close to the station
lets just say it's seen better days. some Ibis you go to are sparkly. Others are tired. this was the latter
We liked the fact that it was centrally located. We later discovered English channels, which made it pleasant.
The bathrooms were too small, Most of the channels were in German with no option to translate it to English. The room was too small for the price we paid.
The hotel was clean and had everything for a one night stay
It was very expensive due to the big concert in Gelsenkirchen.
The staff the lobby and the soap
The bed the curtains (they didn’t cover the Sun)The food
Room and Bathroom: small and tight but very clean and tydy (IBIS-like and hence, no complains). IBIS is like that and I appreciaate and understand how IBIS conducts business. I would do same.
There was really nothing I didn't like. All in all, it was a perfect place to stay.
Excellent location to get around the Ruhr area of Germany. Very close to the station. A good base and comfortable stay for a couple of nights.
No tea and coffee making facilities in the room, although we didn’t expect them as they weren’t listed, it would’ve been nice! We were there for the Euros so it was expensive for what we got but appreciate it was a major event so hotels are going to put their prices up.
As with most Ibis or hotels of this type, not fancy but does the job. It’s a bed to sleep on and a shower to have a wash in the morning but not much else. Bathroom/ toilet area particularly small in comparison to others I’ve stayed in. Major positive is the close proximity to the main station it’s only a 2 minute walk which is great
Shower/ toilet area very small and cramped. Had air conditioning but not the best, although we had particularly hot weather during our stay so probably alright at other times. Otherwise no major issues
Location good. Comfortable bed,good shower
Room a bit small
Breakfast was V. Good.Cleaning was V, Good.Location was good.
Rooms are very small for more than one person.Bathroom was very very small.there was problem in electric switches. There were no free spaces to put luggage.
Quiet place. Nice ambiance. Near the ESSEN Hauptbahnhof.
Food variety
Personell extraordinary friendly, bed confortable, TV good size
Curtain too short, therefore light at night time
The room and bathroom were cleaned and tidy. Bedsheets were changed the next day. However the bed in room 304 third floor was not rigid on the ground. the whole bed slides across the floor with little pushing force. There are layer of textile material placed on the bed possibly to cushion the hardness of the mattress. I will suggest a complete mattress should replace the existing one. And for better customer service there should be a kettle, tea bags and sweeteners in the rooms so that guest at night can make hot drinks especially during the cold period. I lived in Essen for 20 years and whenever I am in Germany I intend to stay in Essen.

It was close to the station
It was very small and didn’t basic things like a tooth paste
Location super if you travel around a lot. Railway is next door. Breakfast basic, can ne improved. Cleaniness was always very good.
Very small rooms and the toilet especially. No place to hang more than 2 costumes. Wardobe almost non existing.
Comfortable quiet room, very friendly staff, complementary coffee, walking distance to city centre
Bathroom is pretty small and awkward to use, TV could do with at least a few English language channels aside from the news
Not a lot
Almost everything. No restaurant, evening staff quite ignorant and abrupt. Never again
Cozy hotel, stay for business trips and ease of travel since it's very close to the Essen station
The prices were on the higher side due to the Medica fair and lack of availability of rooms in nearby places to reach the venue
