Spark by Hilton Essen City Centre

Awesome! Clean and loved the convenience of the location. Essen "The Einkauf Stadt" The shopping city, all just steps away. Enjoyed the complimentary water and apples at the front desk, the free parking, the free large bottle of Sprudel Wasser in yur room

The staff was not very friendly. The internet was not working and I was told I could call the internet service company if I wished. I do not think this is my responsibility, they should call and find out what the issue is, not me! Unbelieveable

Large rooms, friendly staff, good location, near to city center.

One of the 2 lifts was not working. The room carpets need to be replaced. Parking garage with few parking spots, not ideal for car travelers.

breakfast great but expensive. Bar staff nice. Location OK. Room terrible.

room was cold & dirty floor. Prison cell bathroom. No decor.

Location was ok

Slow staff, outdated rooms

Poor

I still have a pending payment on my credit card four weeks after my stay, although I have paid the invoice at the hotel. So be careful that you don't pay twice! One of the power points at the desk didn't work. Kitchen smell in the room.

worst stay ever won’t repeat...

poor customer service no acno fridgevery loud hammering noises from 8am on my last day of stay

The location it was excellent. Nice breakfast. Comfortable bed. Quite clean

Bad hair dryer.

Calm and efficient. Centrally placed, access to the metro, U11.

fantastic breakfast - very nice

rooms not clean - carpets full of dirty spots - light in bathroom was defect - asked for new bulbs - they promised - but nithing happend

We loved the breakfast and the location in Berlinerplatz.

The room furniture had some minor flaws.

Great location, close to the city center and close to the metro station, own underground garage, breakfast

Room furniture a little bit outdated…room windows are not providing enough noise isolation

Breakfast was very good, it exceeded my expectations. The rooms are big and comfortable. Bathroom was OK, very good shower. Hotel location was also very good. Many restaurants walking distance. Parking was also very convenient.

Room temperature was a little low and cold. There was garbage left over from previous guests in our room. The hotel looks old and may need some renewal in carpets and furniture for example. For some reason, bar was closed on Saturday and that was not convenient for us.

Location

They did not have cleaning staff so our room was not cleaned They did not even provide us with extra pillows that we requested because cleaning staff was not there I even offered to collect it from the reception, but that was also refused Had to sleep uncomfortably :(

Location and staff

We booked a queen bed room, bathtub but we got the twin bed room and there was only shower in the bathroom. Looked like we paid for more but we got less.

The breakfast room was airy, spacious, clean and the breakfast was just right for us. We loved the variety of cheeses and other things that were offered for the breakfast. We were on the 6th floor, super view, quiet. The room was really large and good value for the price. And the shower had excellent pressure. Coffee/ tea facilities and a fridge were also present in the room .

The room just needs a little updating and some new curtains. The one in our room was a a bit torn from wear and tear. But otherwise we had a great stay.

Stayed here to visit the Christmas market which was only a 10 minute walk. Staff were great and enough facilities to make our stay comfortable. Huge rooms and comfy beds, decent food and choice of drinks. Car park under the hotel but it's very tight so I wouldn't suggest using it if you have a large car. There's a multistorey car park opposite as well so no issues with finding a place to park nearby.

Decor is tired, especially the rooms. That's about the only negative

Breakfast was good.

Staff did mistakes, we had three different room. At 6am someone entered room with key, they did not properly make check-in. They give room to someone else. Also, they get money from booking as we did not checked in. It was disaster. They did not try to solve, and apologies. The things did not end here. When we were leaving, they put different bill to us. They did not charge one of the room when checking out and they included in our bill. Still I have problem with the hotel, I did not receive right amount of invoice and asked them from booking and also by e-mail. No response from any side. It it the worst hotel I had ever been.
