Black Forest Motel

Surprisingly lovely motel. Check in was remote - received a text with instructions regarding entering our room. Easy, seamless experience. Room was comfortable and the bathroom was great. Huge shower. Large, well lit mirror. Even provided air freshener, bug spray and a brand new box of tissues.

We were attending a party on Woodend - approximately 9km away. Found it impossible to get any transport (taxi or Uber) back late at night. That’s not the motel’s fault - however it’s located in a tricky spot (if you’re not driving.)

Every thing was spot on especially for the large family group of us. The kitchen and B.B.Q area was fantastic. A swimming pool would have made it perfect.

So friendly! Big rooms and bathrooms, well-equipped. Nice choice of things for breakfast and it was lovely chatting with family who own it, like visiting long-lost cousins.

Pillows soft, mattress firm, good blinds to keep morning sun out for sleep in. Lovely modern bathroom, great shower pressure. Easy walk to train and town with a very nice pub.

The kitchen and bbq area was excellent Having free breakfast every morning that you cook yourself was such a great ideaVery comfy room too

Decent motel for a night or two. Property was well located for us as we had events on in both Castlemaine and Melbourne over two consecutive days. Also close to Woodend.

Bed was a bit soft but passable.

Nice new bathroom. Very clean. Easy access. Quiet.

The security chain on the door was broken.

Self service breakfast was an unexpected bonus - well stocked with a wide range of offerings.Quiet and peaceful location.The bathroom was very good.

Bed was warm, but unfortunately it sunk in the middle which didn’t make it too comfortable.It would have been good to have more seating in the room, so instead of a single bed (not required for a couple), it would have been a better use of the space to provide more seating.

The management have thought of everything and made it such a great accommodation experience. I’m so impressed. The bed and bedding was very comfortable. Everything was immaculately clean. The bathroom was beautiful and everything was laid out in such a practical way.

The camp kitchen style breakfast room was fantastic. The self service self cooked breakfast was wonderful and it was nice to meet other guests.

The property’s location was perfect, conveniently situated right by the roadside with plenty of parking available. The rooms were in great condition—very neat and spotless. The bathroom and shower stood out as especially clean and modern, appearing to have been recently updated. My family thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast offerings, and the kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and essentials. Overall, it was a delightful experience, especially for the kids.

There was honestly nothing we didn’t like. Everything went smoothly—from the moment we made the booking, to our arrival, stay, and check-out the next day. It was all just perfect.

Really comfortable bed, well appointed -- everything we needed was there. We didn't stay for breakfast, but loved the self-service space and it would have been perfect for us if we weren't up and out. The surrounds are beautiful, and it's just tucked away enough to be insulated from street noise. A great sign of thoughtfulness -- I love soap and shampoo dispensers that are labeled so I can actually read them from more than 3cm away. :)

No negatives.

Comfortable beds, clean newly renovated bathroom, great shared kitchen with cooking facilities and breakfast including cereal, bacon, eggs, toast, and tea/coffee. Spacious private parking. Great heating / air-conditioning. The price was good for the location. Look forward to returning in the future.

My only recommendation is that there needs to be a draught/ door stopper on the back of the door, as the cold was coming in. The room was not overly big , but it suited our needs and had everything needed to make our stay comfortable. Possibly needs an extra chair under the bench. The basketball ring was great but is situated in the car park, so it's probably not the safest if there are lots of cars around.

The only cutlery in the room was a teaspoon. For a motel in a remote area ( a long way from food access, as well as no room service), I would have thought the minimum of a couple of plates and knife and fork would be the least on offer. A microwave would have been welcome too.

The room was clean and comfortable.

We arrived at 7.00pm and the reception was not attended. There was a microwave in the room but there was no cutlery or plates except for 1 teaspoon.

The beds were comfortable access after hours was easy, everything you could need was supplied including ingredients for a cooked breakfast.

Very responsive staff. Room was very clean and updated bathroom. Brilliant shared kitchen facility that provided everything you need to make your own breakfast including eggs and bacon.

The bed was so comfortable! The staff were amazing and the property was very clean, spacious and right at the train station.

Great bathroom - obviously renovated. Very clean. Loved it. Exceeded expectations. Overall very good room.

The bed top cover was extremely heavy and I would have liked to have an extra pillow. 1 pillow wasn't enough for my personal preference and there was only 1 spare pillow in the cupboard. I would have also preferred a bedside lamp as the light over the bedhead was extremely bright.
