    Pros +

    • Convenient location, very clean, excellent bath. Free late night ramen is fantastic for those getting back from a night of drinking.
    • The hotel is very nice. We loved the traditional Japanese experience overall, such as no shoes, tatami, onsen, the lovely hotel room etc and the location is excellent. The staff seemed nice, but it was really only the English speaking gentleman that we were able to communicate with, who seemed caring, kind and thoughtful and we really appreciated him.
    • This was a perfect hotel with the best breakfast in japan. Room is clean and minimal and come with private bath onsen.Free ice cream and massage chair!

    Cons -

    • Expect rooms to be on the smaller size (which is typical of hotels in Japan).
    • We had some unfortunate experiences during our brief stay that were out of the ordinary so they don't apply to others necessarily. In the female onsen one of us experienced verbal abuse by two local elder women who thought we hadn't showered before getting in the bath. In the male onsen one of us slipped in the Hinoki Furo (wooden bath) resulting in a torn toe and compound bone fracture. This required calling an ambulance since it happened at 5:00 and we needed to get to an ER, where the toe was stitched back up and x-rayed, requiring multiple follow ups with orthopedic surgeons every few days during our trip. We believe there is a floor drain/grate in the bath, where the toe was cut and got broken, but we can't be sure since we were unable to return and look again before check-out. We would absolutely stay here again, since the staff was sincerely concerned for our well-being after both these events, and the hotel is lovely, but would take more caution when using the onsen and would definitely get the travel medical insurance we purchased for this trip again. It would have been nice if the hotel was able to follow up with us about our experience after check-out and perhaps consider allowing us to stay again in the future to make up for a stay that we paid for but didn't get to enjoy in the slightest (but perhaps since we didn't book directly with the hotel?). And it would also be good if the hotel front desk staff was more trained in what to do when these kinds of emergencies occur so they can be better prepared to help out of town guests. It was us, the injured guest, who asked the front desk to call 119, and inquired about University Hospital, since we lived in Toyama for 4 years and know some things about what to do in case of emergency.
    • The breakfast buffet at 2,500 yen wasn’t something I was ready for, after a night of feast. Maybe something lighter for less would be good.

It’s quiet & not congested like some other hotels. The hot spring was great & helped me recharge.

The breakfast buffet at 2,500 yen wasn’t something I was ready for, after a night of feast. Maybe something lighter for less would be good.

-very Japanese vibe-breakfast is good with many varieties -the room is terribly small! It’s not a comfortable stay- you must take off shoes to enter the lobby -the location is a bit far from train station

    The room is very small

Onsen was enjoyable, especially the waterfall massage, wet sauna, ice bath, and variety of baths to soak in. Staff worked constantly to ensure a wonderfully fulfilling experience at Onyado Nono Toyama. The staff is exceptional during the buffet breakfast and evening ramen noodle service. We found every aspect of our two week stay so relaxing and enjoyable! They even provide free tram rides on the loop circuit that allows access to various sights throughout the city! This allowed us to explore much further than what would be accessible on foot. We definitely will return!

The waterfall massage water temperature fluctuated a lot, mainly way above 40 degrees Celsius. Not sure if that is monitored but seems a bit too high. I used this waterfall massage daily during my two week stay and its temperature did not seem to be regulated properly.

Owned by the Dormy Inn Group it was a hundred times better than DI in Osaka. The buffet breakfast was always hot no matter what time you ate, unlike Osaka where it was never hot, sometimes not even luke warm! The staff here was always polite and very helpful. I highly recommend this place, and loved that you had to remove your shoes when entering.....I love bare feet! They give you free tickets to ride the circle line tram which will also take you to the station.

    Nothing!

Love the private onsen in room. Good location.

Small room. A bit pricey but overall good value. Parking fee 1,400JPY per night.

The onsen and breakfast and shoe-free floors.

We booked the day of when our plans in the mountains changed and got a great deal. This hotel was about a 15 minute walk from the train station and once we got there very well located. The room was small but comfortable, the Onsen in the room was a nice treat. The public onsen was one of the nicer ones we’ve had during our stay here and some of the ladies were so friendly. The free ramen & snacks after the onsen were an added bonus. They helped arrange our luggage delivery and everyone was very kind and accommodating.

The room was tight but this is standard in Japan!

Large onsen with a sauna, a cold water pool, and two warm pools. While the room was the same size as their place in Kanazawa, the layout made it feel more spacious, and the bathroom was Japanese-style with access to spring water. Solid breakfast buffet and midnight noodles. It's tatami-style, so you'll need to check your shoes when coming in, but can then spend all your time walking around barefoot if you want.

No outdoors onsen on this one, unlike Kanazawa. Midnight noodles aren't available until midnight - only 11pm.

    10NikolovaPosted on: 8-25-2025

Everything was perfect, the onsen is amazing, the food and all the complimentary food and drink were amazing. The hotel really exceeded my expectations.

    10BernardoPosted on: 8-10-2025

In room onsen was the highlight! I had to take a couple baths a day; it's a wooden ofuro in a full shower room; the ofuro is fed by the hot spring. I even squeezed a bath in 20 min before checkout! There's also a nice public onsen. The room was a cross between business hotel and traditional Japanese room - it had the tatami floor but was small like a business hotel; it wasn't a place to hang out. The whole hotel is no shoes (shoe lockers on the first floor). Great buffet breakfast that included local specialties as well as some western dishes.

Loved the hotel. Clean, good service, good location, onsen in the room, lovely room. Amenities on point

    9LateNightTeaTimePosted on: 7-30-2025

Good facility. Friendly staff. Comfortable and good value.

I think the breakfast buffet can be improved. More diversity and local food. I know it's standardized for the franchise but I think the local kitchen can spend a bit more effort on designing the menu. It's still good but feels like something was missing.

The property is a Dormy Inn but more Japanese traditional style. It’s super clean and breakfast was good. Has a great Onsen. And Toyama is a great little town to hang out in for a while. Cleanest town in Japan that I have been in. Lovely people and fun area around the train station for shopping and eating.

Nice hotel with great hot spring, good fit for family trip.

The bed doesn’t fit me good. Probably personal reason ;( The air conditioner is a bit loud.

    9KapoPosted on: 6-28-2025

The location, onsen, breakfast and nightly noodles, meeting my expectations as dormy inns but even nicer.

    8LawrencePosted on: 6-15-2025

A hotel very similar to a hot spring onsen ryokan experience.

Crowded during the late night ramen. Only 2 elevators.

    10AkariPosted on: 6-12-2025

The hinoki tub in my own room with onsen was amazing. The room was cozy, and I felt like I was in a hideout, which I really treasured.
