- Great location with the best service
- Great location, lovely historical building, & furnishings, very clean, excellent service, great value for the price.
- There was so much to like about this hotel. The staff were excellent. They were friendly and went far above the norm in their desire to make us comfortable. For example, while we were eating it was quite chilly in the dining room. (This is normal at this time of the year in Cuenca where central heating is not common). They brought my wife a blanket to use as a shawl. They also provided an electrice heater for the room. The restaurant was wonderful. The food was delicious with very large portions. The included breakfast was about as good as I've ever seen at a buffet. There were a number of hot dishes like sausages, waffles, and scrambled eggs. Lots of tropical fruits, breads, cereals, cheeses, cold cuts, and more. The coffee was rich and flavorful.. And, it was all served on a rooftop level with a view of the city. The view was not the most beautiful, since much of it was of other buildings, but you can still see the mountains in several directions. The shower in the bathroom was huge. It had both a "rainwater" shower head and a handheld shower head. All of this was only about $60 including the breakfast. A real bargain winin an historic building with lots of antiques.
Cons -
- Squeaky floors
- Internal sound proofing somewhat poor during the day but slept well
- In the bathroom, the toilet seat would not stay in the upright position due to the way everything was situated. There was a very small refrigerator in the room. We stored our leftover dinners from their restaurant in it hoping to have them for the next day, unfortunately, we didn;t realize it wasn't plugged in, so we wasted some delicious food.

Staying at Hotel Boutique Los Balcones felt very historical, with antiques and grand décor throughout the hotel. The lobby was absolutely gorgeous. I didn’t see any elevators, so if you have trouble walking up the stairs, make sure to request a room on a lower floor (total of 3). The room was spacious, but I wish it had a bit more of a modern touch; perhaps that’s the time period design the hotel was going for. The bathroom was renovated, though, with very nice spa-like shower stalls. WiFi worked great, where I was able to have Zoom calls without issues. The staff were overall friendly, being helpful at the front desk and the breakfast buffet. The hotel was pretty quiet as we didn’t see too many guests during our stay. Location-wise, it is about a 5-7 min walk to Calderón Park. Totally walkable, but do budget some extra time as the sidewalks are often crowded with tourists.
We were greeted by on arrival by friendly staff who oriented us to our location, noted interesting places to visit in the town and gave us a map and a business card to call the hotel if we got lost or needed any help. The entire hotel and room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. We had a nice view of the domes of the church in the historical district from our balcony. Great breakfast, lots of variety and again a friendly, smiling face to greet you each morning. Beautiful decor, so many details to make it a unique destination. A short 3 block walk to the historical square. On our last day, we had a late afternoon flight and the staff suggested a late check out for us, very much appreciated.
Location was great. Comfortable clean friendly accommodating staff
The Staff was very professional and extremely accommodating. Christina was very friendly. She is an asset to this hotel. Highly Recommended. Will return in the future. Awesome Customer ? service ?.
Nice location. Good room size.
Photos are confusing in the listing. We booked a room thinking every room will look colonial style but we got a standard decorated and boring room.Breakfast could include more options for allergic/intolerant people. In that case, you can only eat fruits, tea, bread. It would be great if they offer cooked food without dairy products or meat.
Great breakfast on enclosed rooftop. Beautiful corner room with balcony and old world ambience.
Lots of traffic noise, but couldn’t be helped. Cuenca has a lot of traffic!
The hotel was stylish with multiple levels and a swath of old European furniture/fixtures. My room felt secure, and had a balcony looking out on a very busy street. I didn’t use the balcony bc of this reason, but the hotel provided three sets of doors ensuring that the room was silent at nighttime despite the flow of cars. The staff were friendly, and breakfast every morning on the terrace was pleasant (buffet-style). Wifi was pretty good, but I was on the second level, and I wouldn’t always have consistent signal in my room.
Nothing to note
The main building is a very beautiful colonial building. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet is ok, not special. located next to the main plaza.
We had a room in the modern part. Charmless and almost with no daylight. You should insist for a room in the colonial building, they are much nicer.
Wonderful colonial hotel. Great staff. Greate location, very clean. spacious and modern bath.We would come again.
It is a very romantic hotel with beautiful rooms and shared spaces. Breakfast at rooftop is nice as well as the luxury shower. Central plaza is a only a few blocks away
With wooden floors and open space in the middle of the hotel, one can hear other guests passing and talking
lovely building, comfortable beds. great location and friendly staff
I thought the breakfast could do with an upgrade
The breakfast was good and the room at the top bright light and airy.
Beautiful old building with an interesting history - great location.Excellent staff - friendly, helpful, good funSpacious comfortable room
I spent almost two weeks at Le Fabrique and thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. It felt more like a home than a hotel thanks to the kind hospitality of Franco and Maria. My room was beautiful and breakfast was something a little different every day and delicious. I often enjoyed a capuccino in the beautiful courtyard outside of my room. The location is very central and I felt safe walking around the area. A perfect place to stay while in Cuenca.
Liked location , close to stores , restaurant and coffee shops and pharmacy.
I DIDNT LIKE THEY DID NOT HAVE SOME ONE ALL THE TIME THAT SPOKE ENGLISH I WAS WAY OVER CHARGED FOR MY LAUNDRY AND HAD NOBODY TO COMMUNICATE IT TOO.. ALSO THE RESTURANT NEXT TO IT THEY ARE RUDE,
not really. the balcony was nice but the view was a run down collapsed building across the street.
breakfast was the worst. there was very little available for us. i know it was off season but please. 4 small slices of cheese and 4 small slices of ham. white bread. burnt corn tortillas. cold scrambled eggs. we left and went to eat elsewhere every day after that for 5 days. the video and pictures were NOT what you are served. shower was constantly flooding. we were told a heater would be brought up to the room but it never appeared. an IPOD charging station next to the bed? who has an IPOD any more?? balcony doors would not open, they had to come up and fix them so they would. one night we got back around 7pm and kept ringing the bell but no one buzzed us in. we buzzed for over 20 minutes and finally had to bang on the doors to get buzzed in. we booked one balcony room and one apartment with a private garden. there was no private garden. just a small patch between buildings when you exited the historical one and went into the one with apartments which is a separate building. luggage from the people next store were kept outside the door blocking the stairs. furniture and appliances in the apartment were old soiled and in poor quality. manager and cleaning lady were very nice the other two gentlemen were not. the three of us stayed 5 days and the other 5 stayed 2 days. we all had the same opinion about food quality and staff. we were so embarassed since we recommended them to stay there with us. we were supposed to have complimentary hotel transportation but were changed 10.00 for it. we took our own 2.50 cab ride back when we left.
well located
just weekend attract close to the hotel a lot of party
