    Pros +

    • This is a Japanese style hotel with onsen next to the JR Nara station. As a family on vacation, we loved the hotel. We loved the on site onsen. There was free ramen between 9:30 and 11pm in the evening. We wished had booked another night here.
    • The hot spring and spa like experience were an amazing break from the running around, sightseeing.
    • Great location (a stone’s throw away from the train station), cool onsen.

    Cons -

    • The room was small, which we knew - but we made a booking for 3 people (a couple with one 11y child) and were only given a double bed to share. When asked if the hotel could provide at least a spare mattress, we were told they had none. Disappointing given they knew all along there would be 3 people in the room.
    • I knew that the hotel was close to the train station when booking but I didn't realize a train would be going by my window. I was woken up by trains on multiple occasions. It was also very easy to hear other guests while in our room.
    • the fact that I only booked one night and didn't stay longer ?

The staff were very helpful and the spa was very beautiful and relaxing! We also enjoyed the traditional style of the hotel.

EVERYTHINGGGG!!! From the MOMENT I arrived, the staff took AMAZING care of me, I was able to store my luggage there for a few hours while I explored the city. Later when I came back to check in, I found out they had already taken my luggage to my room!! ? Service was truly 12/10!! The onsen was beautiful, well maintained. Absolute bliss to soak in, esp loved the outdoor onsen and the massage chairs!!Evening ramen (included) - such a treat! Buffet Breakfast was out of this WORLD!! Hands down the most extensive and thoughtful hotel breakfast I've ever had. All traditional Japanese food, incredible miso. My only regret was not staying longer ?Room itself was very cozy, so thoughtfully designed. Had everything you need including a laundry basket with your own set of clothes for walking around the hotel. I was able to do my dirty laundry also for FREE + only cost 100 yen to use the dryer. They truly thought of everything! The service again was world class - thank you for the best stay of my entire Japan trip!

the fact that I only booked one night and didn't stay longer ?

Great aesthetic, nice amenities like bathhouse, massage chairs, beverages and snacks, great breakfast buffet. They put our bags in our room for us and offered a baby bathtub for our infant. Great location next to JR station as well.

Our room on the second floor had street noise and became very hot in the night. We had to ask for additional pillows. They are strictly no tattoo onsen as mentioned at check in by reception and given pamphlets stating the same.

Really cool Japanese-style hotel where we leave our shoes in the lobby locker, and get around the hotel in our socks.Although our room didn't have much of an outside-view, the room itself is really cozy and lovely!Furthermore, the hotel itself is located right next to the train station, and that's really convenient!

Onsen was terrific. Ice cream refreshments at the end was bonus. Great breakfast. Perfect location. Kind staff. Loved tatami and everywhere. Great pjs.

Room a bit smaller than we thought, but great and comfortable bed.

The Onyado chain of hotels are meant to be a traditional Japanese ryokan (inn), but with the conveniences of a modern hotel. So the interior has tatami mats and is decorated in a modern interpretation of a traditional Japanese inn. It's great for tourists who want to have the traditional vibe but don't want to sleep on the floor, or deal with drafty traditional inns. The public baths are a main feature of the chain. This particular location (Nara) is not an onsen area, so the water is just heated water with additional minerals added to it, and not actual hot spring water. That said, it's a pleasant bath, and nothing beats a good soak after a long day of being chased by deer for food. (It's Nara, after all.) The location is across the street from the JR train station, so it's convenient access to train lines. It's a little bit far from Nara Park and I wouldn't recommend walking there, but many buses go to the Park from the JR station, and there are always a fleet of taxis at the station. There's a number of restaurants in convenient walking distance from the hotel, so it's a good location, even if it's not next to Nara's main tourist area

The train line runs right next to the hotel, so there can be some train noise. It was noticeable during the day, but not enough to wake me up at night.

Wow! So close to the train station with such great facilities! Everything you need including a great onsen and amazing breakfast.

Nothing. The staff was very helpful despite the fact I speak no Japanese and they spoke no English !

Great hotel with onsen, breakfast and late night ramen.

Pillow was too little and too hard but we are able to ask for more pillows from the reception. We were there during new year, breakfast room was crowded, waiting time was 20-30 minutes during 8-9 am.

Great location close to train station and easy mile or so walk to the sights

Checking in at the kiosk was a little confusing

    9PaulinaPosted on: 12-26-2025

The room was big and the staff were very accommodating.

It can get a bit noisy since it’s very close to the train station.

After your check in, when you put your shoes away and walk into a traditional room where your house PJ's awaits you, than you feel like being in a Studio Gibli movie :) Loved this old style Hotel, very clean, with comfy beds and a good hot shower. Kettle on with their drip coffee pads. Location is perfect just across the train station and ca 20min walk to Nara park. The staff were helpful and spoke English. The onsen is very nice and clean, has all the amenities you need. They offer free ice-cream after the onsen. In the evening at 21:30hr they offer free noodles where most people come in their Jakata PJ's. Very relax atmosphere. Breakfast has a incredible breakfast japanese and continental selection. I would certainly recommend this hotel!

    Good location. Clean.

    Room is very small.

    10PatriciaPosted on: 12-11-2025

QUIET! even though it was next to noisy train- didn't hear train at all with windows closed. while room was 'Japanese' small, it was well thought out- a shelf above bed to set things, the little drip coffee pod, the sink was even well designed! we never heard noise through walls or above. The onsen- especially outdoors was nice- hot water! everything you could need after showering. Lucky to find some time in one of the massage chairs- the ice cream treats!

I was somewhat shocked by how noisy the women (and their kids) were in the onsen. It was somewhat better outside. I am used to people being quiet at hot springs. The rough edges all around of the water weren't particularly comfortable.

Proximity to the train station, unique tatami flooring with a modern hotel feel

Proximity to the train station is a blessing and a curse, the train is quite loud from the rooms facing the station

    8DavidPosted on: 11-24-2025

Nice traditional Japanese decor with Tatami mats.

    Breakfast was overcrowded
