Clean and good value
Obligatory osen fee even if you don’t want to go…
So glad we chose this hotel. Rooms veers very clean and cosy, beautiful onsen was a highlight and the breakfast was amazing. It was a 10min walk from the centre which we were so glad about as the centre is bustling with activity. Easy to hire bikes from hotel too. We’ll be back for sure!
3 things:- The receptionists were very polite and helpful.- The plates and cutleries were provided, when they advertised for microwave. (As opposed to the experience with other hotels I had booked in Japan)- The room was more spacious than an average hotel room provided in Japan.
Everything else.- There were cockroaches roaming around in the room (we killed one) - shows it is not so hygienic.- Onsen: limited time (till 11 pm) - understandable, but a bit inconvenient as a tourist, as we come back around 10 - 10:15 pm (after dinner). Also the men's onsen seemed unkept. The Natural Onsen area had a lot of brown patches on the wall - seemed like it was not cleaned at all.No bubble jets / anything for the Onsen. There was separate tax for the Onsen (there can be a state/city rule for that here, but this could have been informed explicitly and collected in advance while booking the hotel room itself)- The hotel reception area and the stairways looks grand, which is good, but I wish they could also spend some time in maintaining rooms cleaner and make it more hygienic.- The amount of money we paid vs the comfort we got was extremely disappointing.- The location is also not too great. If coming with big and heavy luggages, one needs to walk for around 1.2-1.5 km to arrive here from the nearest train station (Shin Ōmiya station), which is not so great.
The interior design was luxurious and highly detailed in lacquer, marble, 2-tone chrome...similar to the old Capital or Okura before refurb. There are original chairs and light fixtures here,as well. I think the Nara Royal used to be on the edge of town overlooking the ancient Prefectural Halls in the rice fields (and on top of a natural hot spring)...now it is in town but close to 2 major thrifting shops! Service was top notch the whole way through.
We did not have a problem with anything at all except we did an use our phones to translate a bit (asking for ice buckets or mid-day room makeup.?.....the cleaning team are quite incredible!! The front desk can handle check in and check out in English. I really want to go back to this hotel which is the prototype for Regal Oriental Kowloon in Hong Kong....except this one is in perfect shape.
The room was very big and clean my family very like it
The food was very expensive
It has a nice location, breakfast and onsen were really good! Stuffs are friendly and suggest to us the surrounding sightseeing places etc. The bed was comfortable.
The shampoo and conditioner were amazing! Facilities and bed comfy. All round great vibes.
Room got hot very easy. Couldn’t go to the spa because of tattoos. Location was a little far out.
Not tattoo friendly
When I booked I was unaware that we would not be able to use the facilities due to having tattoos. This was the reason why we booked. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable.
About as Royal as Prince Harry, but staff were very friendly/helpful, would stay here again.
Slightly dated. Felt a little dingy.
All in all I liked it. Service was good. Hotel was clean. Ample and easy parking.
2 of the 3 restaurants were closed on the second day. That was not as promised so we had to change dinner plans for our invited guests. Ladies had a jacuzzi in their Onsen ( hot public bath) section but gents did not. That was also terrible as I was looking forward to it.
Nice rooms and bed staff v helpful
Had to get taxi into town as there was not really anywhere very good to walk to, the inhouse restaurant just had a single thing on the menu a 7 course fish menu, and the chinese around the corner closed at 8pm
The breakfast was good and had a wide selection. Family enjoyed the sauna and onsen. International TV channels.
Everything was good and as expected.
Perfect for a family of four - staff were very helpful, great buffet restaurant downstairs, wonderful public bath. Excellent value with cost for a late check out too. All super easy. Would stay again.
Location is good. It's an old hotel but you can tell it's prestigiouness during it's new era time. It's giving a old time royalty vibes. The room was clean but I think it's kinda small for 4 people to stay.
The room was clean but kinda small for 4 people to stay. I wish they had coffee as part of amenities, they only have tea, not all customers drink tea in the morning. I just wish they have smart tv where you can watch Netflix or any movies during the stay. They only have japanese programs on tv, not all customers especially foreigners can understand what shown on TV.
cost performance is decent especially in its location.
the building shows it had its good days before compare now. building interiors need some renovation.
The room was a terrific size for 4 people. The beds and couch were comfortable with enough space left in the room to still move around. The bathroom was spacious. Staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was worth the money.
That you couldn't wear a swimming costume in the hot springs.
Big and comfortable room for 4 persons family. Good distance to reach main atractions in Nara.
