    Pros +

    • The staff were very courteous and welcoming. We stayed in one of the traditional rooms and had the breakfast and dinner (recommend doing both!). The presentation and quality of the food were excellent. While our room had a private bath and two toilets, we also enjoyed the onsen (public bath).
    • Not too far from Kintetsu-Nara Station. Traditional style rooms have Tatami to let guests emerge into a Japanese atmosphere. Room is spacious with almost everything I need. An Onsen is on the 2nd floor for guests to use. Breakfast is also a traditional Japanese meal, with porridge, pickles, vegetables and fish. Staff are always ready to help.
    • Staff and service was exceptional. Great location. Onsen was nice

    Cons -

    • The hotel is overpriced. The location is good, but the street is not so good. The room is not so good and service is poor. Not recommended. We stayed in lots of Ryokans in japan and definitly this was the worst. The price is higher.
    • For the public bathing experience in the onsen, it might be helpful to have a small pamphlet that describe the proper etiquette (besides covering tattoos) for foreigners who are not familiar with the customs. But otherwise quite enjoyable!
    • A bit expensive due to its fancy Japanese-style rooms. Breakfast has two meals, but they are almost same. When I ordered the porridge meal and asked for some rice, the staff refused to add rice because she believed the porridge was rice--I cannot agree.

The location was excellent - just a few steps away from the train station and convenient for everything we wanted to do. The room wear yukatas the hotel provided were a lovely touch. We tried and enjoyed all three breakfast options. The public baths were clean and easy to find.

Some of the ambiance felt a little low-market compared to the price point. The room was visibly worn.

Japanese style ryiojan walking distance from station

Super small rooms and bathrooms meant fur college student dorms. Onsen was only opened until 11pm and not at all in the morning. Also super tiny. Smoking area close that baths and own bathrooms in the rooms smelled. They put us next to an elevator when other rooms were available really upset me. Also why does the fourth floor exist? Not good meant fur death in Japanese culture.

This hotel has an excellent location, and the staff are wonderfully kind and welcoming. We had the pleasure of staying in a traditional Japanese-style room, which made for a truly memorable experience. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and inviting. The public bath was relaxing. The food was absolutely delightful. It’s absolutely worth staying here—we recommend it!

Bathroom drain could be a clogged

The breakfast was amazing and the location was great.

The property is an older property... but it was well maintained and the staff were really good.

    7YIH-TIENPosted on: 4-20-2025

The location and the breakfast are great.

The public bath is too small and very hard to get in. The advertisement says there is onsen (hot springs) but it doesn’t.

Beautiful and delicious meals for dinner and breakfast. Nice public baths. Glad our family was able to have a ryokan experience. Staff was kind and accommodating for our family.

Central location and the in-house onsen Wonderful dinner and japanese style room was fun and confortable

Noisy: you can hear the neighbours

The place has great location and the room was quite spacious. The breakfast was great, though way too much - we couldn’t finish everything. However the facility is quite old and requires renovation, though the rooms were clean and nice. The staff was friendly and accommodated our request for vegetarian meal.Overall nice but not with the money paid.

    9XUN K.Posted on: 4-9-2025

For what we paid for it was fair as there was a japanese breakfast included. Similarly so close to Nara Deer Park. All within walking distance. They even reimbursed our parking. Cant complain

Close to station, attractions and food streets.Helpful staff.

    6AngelinaPosted on: 3-31-2025

Overall is quite good but problem the stuff like lock oldies . Room remain v cold even heater . Toilet super super small . So best is shower at onsen public bath area

    8TimPosted on: 3-23-2025

Helpful and friendly staff and a great location.

The place was on the older side and showed it's age somewhat, but great for a traditional stay.

    9TracyPosted on: 3-14-2025

The service, the massage chair, location and public bath ?

Western rooms including linen and esp bathroom needs updating :)

    7ShiPosted on: 2-26-2025

It’s location. The hotel is located close to kintetsu station and also the bus station where I use the bus to go to all the places that I want to go to. Also, its location of next to the shopping street makes me love this place.

The water for shower in my room seems a bit lack of pressure.

    10ClaraPosted on: 2-19-2025

We slept in a traditional room and everything was perfect! The dinner and breakfast were amazing and they changed the menu to include veggie options as one of us is vegetarian

    9RomanPosted on: 2-12-2025

I enjoyed my stay at Nara Hakushikaso. The hotel location is great (near Kintetsu Nara station), the personnel are polite (I had a pleasant talk and learned some cultural things about Japan), and all the amenities have been provided. Price/Quality ratio met my expectations. The breakfast was excellent and abundant! You could choose between the traditional Japanese breakfast and the western-style one.

    None! Everything met my expectations.
