Pros +
- Great location with a large terrace overlooking the pond. Nice public lounge area with basic kitchen facilities plus free coffee & tea. Spacious room with cool decor.
- Beautiful location very walkable to all points of interest. Clean facilities and has amenities like a public bath (for guests only) and a coin washing machine. Staff was great, they helped me with a restaurant reservation and luggage forwarding. Beautiful deck with view of the lake and a lounge with good kitchen amenities for making a little food or tea (they provide many flavors of tea bags)
- Perfect location to visit highlights and wander old town. Large and intensely comfortable room (get the balcony with view). Friendly staff. Very clean. Public bath was relaxing.
Cons -
- Strange room layout with very small sink right next to TV in living area. I noticed the cabbage-y smell that others have mentioned, I guess coming from the kitchen. Not too bad and it wasn’t constant.
- The lovely shoji screens in the room don’t have a blackout screen, which makes it hard for me to sleep well - my travel companion had no trouble with that however, so your mileage may vary. The temple next door rings a gong in the morning, which is kind of cool but also not great for sleeping in.
- The only downside was the temple bell at 6am…. But not really a negative as so lovely to be so close to gorgeous sights of Nara. And of course I couldn’t buy the pjs :)Thank you for having us :)

Excellent location, great facilities and large room. The onsen on site was a bonus and delightful balcony overlooking lake was a great afternoon drinks spot. The pjs were lovely, really wanted to buy a pair but because a “borrowed item” they wouldn’t let me :(All very comfortable and staff very polite. We would highly recommend.

Space, amenities, laundry facility, friendliness of staff and of the room design itself
Great location, close to all the sights and several shopping districts. About a 10 minute walk from the train station. Room was comfortable and spacious!
Breakfast was a bento delivered to my room. I was disappointed because I thought there would be a buffet. The bento was tasty, but the value was certainly not what I paid for the breakfast.
The rooms are very nice, clean and modern. However, the sliding screens in front of the window are covered with Japanese paper, which does not block thee sunlight. So when the sun rose around 5 AM, my room was full of sunlight. I think the hotel should add sunlight blocking curtains.
Convenient location.
The switches are not conveniently located. Eg. have to walk to switch off the light when sleeping. Electric sockets, which are needed to charge phone etc, are placed behind TV!The window lets light in . Especially annoying when sun rises early! Consider black-out blinds.
The location is just perfect - just a few minutes walk to Nara Park, lovely pond in the front and lots of food options nearby. The rooms were pretty and comfortable. Only downside is the lack of blackout curtains or blinds so it gets very bright in the room very early which is not ideal when travelling with kids.
Everything was excellent! Location, staff, decor, cleanliness with beautiful views!
Perfect hotel for visiting Nara. It has a small hot spring but is very well maintained. The position was very good and the service was very nice.
The Hotel is very Japanese - very clean and puristical - perfect location to explore the adjacent historic landmarks
We had booked a room with balcony to enjoy the view on the adjacent pond and pagoda. What we got was a room facing the (public) hotel terrace. To provide privacy, the room was blinded with a 2 m high wooden fence directly in front of our window. So instead of the expected view, we were stuck with a view on a wooden wall. Breakfast was served in the room and poor.
Super good location. Beautiful Japanese style interior. Friendly staffs. Very good services. Big balcony with nice view. Starbucks. Great big bath.
No closet & drawers for clothes. We couldn’t unpack our suitcases.
Great location. Close to the train station, shopping area and Nara park. Room is very spacious and clean. Staff at the front desk were very helpful.
Strange smell in the hallway
This is a charming hotel next to a large pond and within minutes of shopping and restaurants. The staff were extremely helpful, polite and kind. Room was impeccable, the most spacious room I have stayed in Japan. There is a small but very comfortable and clean onsen on site. There is a Starbucks next to the hotel that opens at 8. Within 10 minutes of Nara park and the deer and 15 minutes of Todaiji temple. Also 15 minutes straight walk to JR train station and 7 min to kintetso Nara station, very convenient. If I am back in Nara, this is the hotel I would go to.
Nothing. FYI, they don't have breakfast buffet but there's a Starbucks attached and so many eateries within a few minutes of the hotel.
The premium location next to the pond. Yes, you do meet deer in front of the hotel if you are lucky ? Everything is nice and neat, filled with local artworks.
The rice paper blind doesn't block the sunlight too much. Though it's not a bad idea to wake up early, have a walk around the pond with the very famous rice cake as breakfast.
Good service from hotel professionals. Good architecture of the building and interior design. Quite a lot of space in the room. Good spot for the hotel location.
Check-in time is after 3 pm; check-out time is before 10 am.
The location is amazing, walking distance from Nara train station, as well as a stone's throw away from a lively street filled with shopping, street food, and restaurants. Also a short walk away from the heart of Nara Park and the deer! Decent public bath in the basement as well.
I had a terrible time sleeping here. First of all, I'm not sure if this is because our room was in a corner, but the walls were paper thin. We would hear people outside all night! We initially thought a window or something was open because that's how clear the sound was. We could also hear the people in the room below us, clearly enough to hear the words they were saying if we listened. Lastly, there is a clock tower across the street...it goes off LOUDLY at midnight and 6 am..woke me both times.
Fantastic location, great Japanese rooms.
Very good
