Riviera on Vaal Resort

The support provided by the staff, particularly in the restaurant, was commendable. Even though I did not specify any food requests when making the reservation, they still offered almond milk for my daughter, who is lactose intolerant.

Lack of water sport when you have the Vaal river and the closing of the game room.Limited food variety especially as we do not consume pork. Shade covers especially when its raining

The food at the restaurant was absolutely amazing.

The whole place is extremely run down. You can see in its hay day it was beautiful, but it has neglected with no maintenance being done on site.

The location and view next to the Vaal River was nothing short of spectacular. Breakfast was very substantial and dinner also of the highest quality. My mother and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and shall bring the rest of the Family to visit Riviera on Vaal in the near future. Thank You to the Management and Staff.

The hotel is in a lovely position and the meals were very good.

Given the position of the hotel it would be even more popular if there was some serious upkeep done on the building. Its starting to look a bit run down.

Big space with plenty room, stoop going to river was nice to have open doors with fresh air, bed was very comfortable, can easily stay there for weeks.

drawback is the shoer in a bath and the bath you can see needs replacement or removed and have a shoer only.

This Grand Dame of the Vaal still has one of the best locations in the area. The view as you walk through the hotel doors is spectacular. It is an old school hotel - has a delightful atmosphere and is just perfect for a simple weekend getaway. Yes, it is a bit dated but it is neat and clean and has a delightful old school charm. It was great value for money, and the staff were kind, friendly and charming.

I can see that there is a lot of maintenance that has been done but a bit more TLC would not go amiss. The building is not bad, but a bit of work here and there would do the location and hardworking staff justice. The bed linen was a bit on the old side, but it was clean and beds were beautifully made.

everything was good accept the duvets are abit thin and a little bigger fridge would do and if a microwave was there would have been 100 times better

Location was good and overlooking Vaal River

Loud music played in the afternoon and we could not get rest in the afternoon.

The pool was great

The checking in system works with an app, buffet breakfast was poor. No cheese and other variety of drinks just basic. The beds were hard and not comfortable. Headboard making noise and the door handle was loose. Property needs renovation.

The location and views are to die for. With the golf course a few minutes away makes it a real perfect destination. We arrived with the intention to check out the place 1st before we checked 2 other places on our list but we had to check the Riviela on the Vaal 1st because of the convenient location as you get into the city from Johannesburg by road. We didn't have to think twice and there was no need to check other places. We were happy to book right away and the lady at the reception was awesome.

Everything was ok. The only bad experience was at the Restaurant. The waitress really took her time. We checked in and went to the Restaurant shortly after as we were hungry and wanted to Eat 1st before catching a cruise. The waitress took the order and when she brought the food one plate with Lamp was totally cold. The other one was ok so we were forced to share the warm one as she went to heat the lamp. She took forever and by the time she was back the other meal was gone. Ordering a refill on drinks was another nightmare otherwise the stay was Ok just the Restaurant messed the excitement to some extent so dinner we decided to go and eat elsewhere. Thanks

Bathroom was very small, shower head not working properly, no bathroom mats, when you get out the shower, floor very slippery. DSTV and tv did not work. aircon worked on and off

struggled a little bit with opening the room using phone key but got it right last minute.

Rooms were spacious and cosy.

We were charged extra for 2 breakfasts although it was supposed to be included

stuff is polite, it is what you would expect in the Vaal, great view of the dam, check in is easy, phone key makes easy to go in and out of room no hustle

my shower was slow to drain water resulting in water goin up quick even after maintance said they fixed it. the rooms can be more modernised. housekeeping kept entering my room without giving me a chance to respond
