Pros +
- Breakfast was very good and the staff was willing to serve it at any time we requested. The view from the room was amazing and the beach was a very short walk across the road. The owner offered to take us into town and was very friendly and approachable.
- The rooms are super comfortable, making your feel right at home. The ocean view is something else, and waking up to watch the sunrise from the balcony is priceless. The hotel is right across the beach, if you manage to deal with the cold water - some locals enjoying the beach from sunrise. The breakfast options are simple, but super super tasty and more than enough. It was a delight to meet the owners as well. Lovely people!
- The location is excellent within walking distant to a few lovely beaches. The view from our room was beautiful.Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was fresh and tasty.
Cons -
- We really wanted ice and there was none at first, they did try to make ice in a fridge in the upstairs corridor but it wasn't cold enough. They finally put a small fridge in our room that did freeze. They tried very hard to meet our request
- Nothing relevant to be honest.
- Room could do with a bit of a revamp.

Room could do with a bit of a revamp.
Excellent location right across from a small quiet beach, friendly helpful staff. Nice bar area with sea-view lounging. Extremely friendly and a great find.
Lovely view and balcony to sit on.
Room needs some renovation like painting.
Nice location
Lighting in the room and bathroom was really bad. Bed was not very comfy and the room could be cleaner, perhaps it was just the room I got.
Left after a few hours
Uncomfy bed, no AC, No spa option on day of arrival. Rooms are old
Great location and view, from there it’s downhill.
Impossible access up steep hill making parking extremely hard work.Un attentive staff, hardly a four star establishment, old fittings and fixtures and not well maintained.
Excellent breakfast. Location is amazing - beautiful views.
Parking area was a little small but this is due to the location - and there is street parking very close.
Beauitful views across the sea, with a delicious breakfast.
Room was small for the cost. Bathroom was outdated in terms of design but fine to use.
Cleanliness and location
Very old fashioned and total lack of preparedness for load shedding. We were given one light. No flask of boiled water etc
We really enjoyed our stay. It is a lovely place, perfect for families, with cozy bedrooms, great breakfast, right next to the beach and we really appreciated the help of Elsa in making our stay a very comfortable one.
As a suggestion, there could be snacks in the honesty bar, which is a great idea and really well stocked in the drinks department by the way.
The view
The Room’s table and Fridge were not completely cleaned, some leftovers from the previous occupants were left in the room
Disappointing Experience – Unprofessional and Unclean
Our stay at Whale View Manor was nothing short of disappointing.Upon arrival, there was no staff at the reception. After waiting for five minutes, a staff member finally appeared but was unable to speak English, making communication difficult. We were given Room 4, but the energy in the room felt incredibly unsettling—almost spooky—so we requested a different room. Unfortunately, both rooms had dirty sheets, which was completely unacceptable. At that point, we decided we did not want to stay at the hotel at all.Beyond the poor accommodations, the overall energy of the hotel felt off, as if something unpleasant had happened there. Both my companion and I had the exact same eerie feeling instantly. To make matters worse, I forgot a pair of pants and a shirt in the room. When I called the next morning, I was told they wouldn’t call me back if they found them—I should just come and check myself. So, I drove an hour back to pick them up.Upon arrival, I had to wait outside the gate for five minutes before anyone let me in. When I called, someone answered and hung up on me. After waiting another five minutes, they finally opened the gate. The manager told me there was no sign of my belongings, despite having promised to call if they weren’t found. When I asked why she hadn’t followed up, she simply said she was too busy. I insisted that she personally check with the staff member who was on duty the night we checked in. After some resistance, she finally did—and guess what? My clothes were found in the personal room of a staff member, where they sleep. They took it… This entire experience was completely unprofessional, dishonest, and frustrating. The hotel is old, dirty, and poorly managed, and to top it off, the staff lie. At the very least, it would have been decent of them to offer a refund. I do not recommend this place at all.
Excellent location - early morning swim, just across the road and then a delicious breakfast.Very comfortable bed - amazing view - even though we didn't see any whales!
Elsa is a lovely host, the room with the sea view is amazing and right before the building there is a beach to swim. We were lucky enough during our stay to have a homecooked meal with a private concert. We felt privileged to be there at just the right time. If you are staying more then a few days in Cape Town. Consider coming here and combine it with cape point, and eating fish at fishhoek or houtbay.
BEAUTIFUL BEACH accross the road
Matress horrible. Sheets torn. Place needs a total revamp. Carpets stained and faded. Shower Luke warm water. Staff with baby living on premisses. Manager arrives with their dog running around everywhere. A HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE - We left early (forfeit 1 night paid for) and went to another Guesthouse at double the price, just to escape this place.
This hotel is a family run business and is very personal compared to a corporate large business enterprise. Elsa and Lisa made us feel like we were very welcome at their home. The hotel has a feeling of class and is very relaxed but professional. There is a large lounge and a self-service bar, a terrace overlooking the sea and a small private garden patio. Nothing was too much trouble and the hosts were ready to give advice and recommend local places to visit. The room was comfortable, with tea and coffee, water, a fridge and TV, hair dryer and shower gel, shampoo and lotions provided as well as large fluffy towels and even beach towels.Breakfast was excellent and served in the dining room with a perfect sea view. The hotel is in a great location with easy access to Boulders beach, Simons Town and Cape Point NP, but far enough from town that it was peaceful and quiet after dusk.
Nothing to complain about.
The staff and owners were exceptional. The room and views were amazing and breakfast was lovely
Nothing we loved it
The place was amazing and so wonderfully located and the breakfast super good
The lady who received us, spoke limited English and had to look after her infant. It took away from the experience of our stay.
