    Pros +

    • This is the second time I have stayed at Matilda's and both times the staff has been very friendly and helpful. It is centrally located and is walking distance to two main metro lines. The hotel provides an excellent breakfast each morning.
    • Beautiful building and pleasant staff
    • This boutique hotel was formerly the castle of the niece of a former President of Chile, with 12-foot ceilings, lots of windows, and transoms above the doors. The French style architecture was beautiful. The back garden area had a lot of older mature trees and bushes with lots of sun, shade, lounge chairs, and tables and chairs. The room was small and comfortable with private bath; and each guest room floor (2nd and 3rd floors) had a shared sitting area outside the rooms. Breakfast is included and was very nice - various muffins and pastries; lots of different fruits; beverages: juices, milk, teas, coffee; several cereals; and eggs cooked to order. There were tables on the back porch so you could enjoy your breakfast overlooking the garden area. There is only a 7-block walk to the Hop-On-Hop-Off bus route, which is a great way to see the city, Funicular, and Cable Cars. There are several restaurants within walking distance to the hotel.

    Cons -

    • Policy of allowing people to use the outside garden until 1AM meant we had to deal with loud noise and interrupted sleep as we had a garden facing room. Significantly affected our stay
    • The only thing I did not like about this boutique hotel was the fact that there is no elevator. They had an "elevator" only for taking the luggage upstairs, which I believe was the former dumbwaiter. If you have a hard time with stairs, this may not be the best place; there are 55 steps to ascend to the third floor of the hotel, which is where our room was located.
    • The stairs and floors squeaked.

The breakfasts were fantastic, the rooms clean and comfortable, and the staff was competent, pleasant, and helpful.

    The stairs and floors squeaked.

Beautiful historic building and good size bathroom. Great staff. Bed and pillows were comfortable.

It was a bit noisy in the early morning because our room faced the street. No elevators but there’s a lift for luggage so you don’t lug it up.

    10williamPosted on: 1-15-2026

They make you a breakfast in the morning. Mine was fantastic. They have a well stocked honor bar which we really liked. The staff was very helpful. Anything you wanted they tried to provide. The laundry service was reasonable. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Keep in mind it is a unique boutique hotel without the modern frills. They have a nice garden view with places to relax

It doesn’t have an elevator so if you have trouble with stairs maybe not a good choice. I have to use a cane and really didn’t know that until I got there. I just limited my trips up and down. It has two upper floors and we were on the second floor. But in spite of that I would go back

The breakfast was excellent, the staff was great

My room was very small and uninspiring. The bed was so so comfortable. The bathroom was excellent

    10YigangPosted on: 12-30-2025

Breakfast was excellent. Room is clean, but the size little bit smaller as I expected.

Staffs are superb and friendly. They recommended a very good seafood restaurant for us.

Beautiful old palace with high ceilings, gorgeous decorations, modern bathrooms, a lovely breakfast you can eat in the garden, professional staff. Multiple restaurant options nearby.

The location looked like a tougher neighborhood, though we walked to the historic center with no issues.

    9LouisePosted on: 12-22-2025

The garden & veranda were perfect for breakfast, the charm of the building and the incredible staff!! Highly recommend

    10LynnPosted on: 12-13-2025

The facility was awesome. The public spaces included a lovely garden with several seating options, a library lounge and a comfortable breakfast/bar room. Rooms were well appointed. The staff were very helpful. The value for money was excellent.

Centrally located with secure parking. Easy walking to many city sights or public transportation. Very nice building. Decent breakfast with very good coffee service.

    10BrittanyPosted on: 10-29-2025

Beautiful historic building. Amazing breakfast. Staff was very helpful and kind.

Sometimes you hear cars at night.

    Cozy, homey

Being charged half-day hotel rate after i had already checked out. I did ask for late (3hrs extension) check-out if possible, and that was granted without quoting an amount. This stay was my second time so i naively thought i was being given a thank-you-treat. We were just biding our time to a 9pm flight- we could’ve spent it outside for a later lunch or visit a museum had we known we would be charged

    9Maria L.Posted on: 10-15-2025

Beautifully renovated heritage mansion and gardens. Quick and professional service beyond what’s necessary. Also walking distance to their recommended seafood restaurant

Elevator is only for luggage. I should’ve requested for lower floor when I reserved, as a senior.

    7PhilippPosted on: 10-7-2025

The house itself is amazing and the staff are very helpful and kind.

Value for money is not really fitting. The hotel is more expensive than some places in mid-town, which offer bigger rooms and more space.

    10YanPosted on: 9-15-2025

Good location, friendly staff, excellent breakfast

Due to renovation, some paint smell.

    10MattPosted on: 9-10-2025

The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. Our flight arrived at 7am the day of our check in and they had our room available. The hotel is very nicely appointed. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hotel was also situated a short walk to the city center for exploring Santiago.

    10GretchenPosted on: 8-24-2025

Staff went above and beyond both before and during our stay. Bed and linens were really comfortable and location was central.

    10LauraPosted on: 6-24-2025

We stayed here on our second stay in Santiago. The hotel is beautiful and very charming. The shower was hot. The bed was comfortable. I am not sure about the location as we didn’t venture out much on our own. We did a tour to the wineries on the full day that we stayed here. The airport pick up and drop off was worth it.

No elevator for those that need it-at least it wasn’t working when we stayed there.
