Pros +
- Every day from 5-6pm the hotel had wine hour. This was complimentary wine in their lounge which gave guests the opportunity to meet and chat about their vacation.
- Charming hotel; comfortable and homey. Staff was very helpful. Felt European in the middle of Santiago.
- While the hotel was beautiful, clean and in a wonderful location, the staff is the absolute best. They were extremely accommodating and ready to help for anything. I would highly recommend this hotel!
Cons -
- We could lower the temperature to a comfortable setting but it didn¿t hold for the night. Woke up a couple of times to adjust.
- There was nothing I did not like about this hotel.
- The Castillo Rojo was not "luxury." The photo posted is deceiving. The hotel is no longer bright red, but faded orange. The entrance gate is locked w/ a bicycyle lock! Every time you enter or leave, a staff member has to walk out & unlock the gate.

There was nothing I did not like about this hotel.
Our "premium" room was large, as was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. However, it was a long walk up to the fourth floor!

the neighborhood and the character of the building
hot water did not work very well, often ended a shower with lukewarm water And the night time noise from the bars in the area was brutal on a Friday night. Couldn't sleep peacefully until 2 or 3 in the morning
Character galore, love this hotel. It was the home of an aristocratic Chilean family, harkens back to a bygone era with lots of dark wood and velvet. Convenient location, walking distance to subway, restaurants, trendy shops and craft market.
The staff were terrific and very helpful
good location, excellent service
This is a beautiful property with lots of cafes and bars nearby. The staff are excellent and their “Happy Hour” is fabulous. They put the “Happy Hour” on to encourage guests to mingle. We ended up spending the entire evening with the guests we met. Just wish we’d had more than a one night stay.
Special thanks to Andrés for saving our Antarctica trip! Due to weather conditions, we had to change our flight schedule to make our trip. We were in big rush and couldn’t communicate in Spanish. Andrés helped us booked the tickets. It was a very painful process with all unexpected problems such as airline website crashes, payment denied, keyboard compatibility, etc. Andrés was extremely patient and persistent to chase for the best result. He was very skillful and professional. Big applause to Andrés!
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Lovely garden and terrace spaces. Enjoyed the library/lounge to gather for coffee or wine. Terrific location near La Chascona and many restaurants.
Breakfast could be improved. Very bland food.
The breakfast was excellent. Fruit, an assortment of breads and choice of eggs.
Everything was good.

Excellent front desk service, bellhop service, and customer service overall. The front desk staff took plenty of time to ensure our family was well situated, answered all of our questions, and gave us wonderful recommendations in/around the city within vicinity of the hotel, that all worked-out. They offered us gifts upon check-in, sent additional gifts to our room, nicely and neatly organized our luggage in our room, and gave us a tour of the property upon our arrival. When you consider the unique nature of the conversion of this property from a former castle into a luxurious boutique hotel property, you're inspired by the vision of ownership, and can see how hard they're working to refine the entire experience for their guests. We'd definitely stay here again, and many fun restaurants and artists can be found in/around the neighborhood within proximity of the property. Upon departing for a regional flight to Rapa Nui (Easter Island), they knew we were going to miss the included breakfast so they packed our three kiddos cute and thoughtful lunches to go, and even helped us charter an airport shuttle to the airport to make everything as stress free as possible. Lovely service, through and through. Thank you!
The property was still under construction/renovation when we arrived, which of course, didn't affect our stay or comfort in our room, but it's something to consider until the property is fully renovated, so that guests can experience the full value of the beautiful and secure property both indoors and outdoors. A little construction dust/debris could be found in the common areas and under the beds, etc...but nothing of note or out of the ordinary that made the experience feel any less special.
Beautiful place in a safe part of town with lots of restaurants around. 3 minute walk to San Cristobal
Really wonderful place. Really nothing bad. Just request someone to bring your bags to and from your room.
Location and design ,
Had to request cleaning
The quality of the service provided by the hotel staff was beyond expectations. The hotel was located in a nice neighborhood and a walking distance to the main attractions in downtown. A lot of nice restaurants are nearby. The hotel provided the best breakfast I've ever had. The scrambled eggs had a rich flavor. The fruits were so fresh. The wine tasting in the evening was a great plus! The 10 out of 10 rating I gave the hotel is not exaggerated. I love this hotel and highly recommend it.
None. Everything was great, and keep up the good work!
Loved the building, the terraces, the staff, the breakfast.
The room was very small.
Great location! The staff were amazing and very supportive. The breakfast is really good and fresh and the room was very comfortable.
Castillo Rojo is one of the best Boutique experiences we have ever had. It was cozy, historical, well kept even during some renovations, and homey. We loved the breakfast, the bed was comfortable, a great place to reset and relax after a day of exploring or a night of partying. The staff goes above and beyond to cater to your needs. They helped with transportation, booking experiences and other needs in order to be able to see Santiago as a local.
Everything exceded expectations.
