    Pros +

    • Spa therapy bath supplements
    • My reason for staying at the Birch was because my husband was having surgery at Princess Royal so it was a perfect choice. A short walk across the road to the hospital made it an excellent location and I was very happy with the property. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and the room spacious with all the facilities I needed.
    • All the staff were friendly, helpful and very efficient. The room and facilities were top quality. We had a very comfortable nights stay

    Cons -

    • The staff could only offer me a single with single beds, not what i booked and not what I paid for. Comp was 2 vouchers for a pint of beer!! Big deal when I overpaid by £30 for a double. So, £15 a pint of beer! The concierge Slade was exceptional though
    • Bar and room next to it felt a bit steril with it's neon lights.
    • I would have liked an outlet or two for plugs closer to the bed. And a few more interesting options on the room service menu.

Breakfast was good lots of variety.

We were in the accessibility room. The bed was uncomfortable. The room was far to lights at night. Had a very disturbed. Night due to sounds from the front desk including music and telephones ringing I'm unsure if the bath would be suitable for a wheelchair user due to its height. However this is my opinion.

First of all, we stayed three nights in this room, 204 ,which was small compact, but had everything you needed, and the bed was very comfortable . bathroom was clean and spacious. we also stayed an extra night in a different room, 101 which was not so good. It was an accessibility room which was at the front of the hotel. The beds were twins one had a mattress topper the other didn't. if you didn't have a back ache before you went to bed you did when you got up. it was also a very light room. It never got dark. There were noises , you could hear music telephones, and some form of shuffling around ,all night an exceptionally disturbed night.

Second room room101.One Bed was very uncomfortable .The room never got dark, even with the curtains drawnSounds from reception, including telephone, music and noises All nightNot a comfortable roomIn my opinion, if you had mobility issues, you would never be able to get into the bath to have a shower, but that is only my opinion

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

I was staying at this hotel to attend my mother's funeral. I asked the front desk if they could print a one page eulogy that I was going to read at the service. They refused and said that this was not a service offered to guests. To be clear, I told them what it was for and this did not make any difference. Apart from that, the toilet in the bedroom had unflushed faeces in it.

Bath. Air Con, ease of access.

Disliked · Breakfast was good but I was confused as the menu stated Kippers and also Smoked salmon but when I asked I was told that only applied if there were 20 or more guests for breakfast. In the event they did cook me kippers and there was no problem but I was confused as ti why they are on the menu if not readily available. A function on the Saturday night meant the main restaurant was closed to us. We ordered at the bar but it was a bit of a crush due to people at the function queing for drinks. As we had reserved in adavance it would have been good if someone could have come to table to take order.

Bed was was Comfortable, breakfast was great and staff very nice

Didn't like the Dividing wall between our bedroom and the one next to us was a wooden Dividing wall which meant you can hear noise coming from that room easily, also there was no brandy in the bar

Very friendly staff and very clean

Bed was a bit small for me but was fine

Quiet, comfortable, and good value with a decent restaurant. It is about 30 minute's walk from the HH train station, but parking is easy if you are driving.

As usual in the UK there was no grab bar in the shower. I'm amazed the insurers don't insist on it. I expect it so bring a portable version.

location, as had wedding near by

some of the staff were not too friendly, asked about checking in earlier, 3 calls later before being told that we could

Clean, comfortable, great location, friendly & helpful staff. Excellent self serve breakfast. Would recommend a stay here.

    7GrahamPosted on: 4-22-2025

Comfortable room. Plenty of parking. Good choice at breakfast

The service in the bistro was somewhere between non-existent and dire. Given the hotel was pretty empty it would have been nice to be allocated a room that didn’t look straight out on to a brick wall

Clean, bright, fresh, great breakfast. Needs better coffee.

Bar staff no where to be seen, had to be hunted down.

Lovely old property, clean and staff friendly

Would benefit from a lift to experience the property. Downstairs bedrooms are comfortable but you don’t get the same experience. Also as friendly as the staff are you do have to go looking for them at times.

Room on ground floor, which was perfect as I don’t do stairs too well. The bed was really comfortable- I slept really well. Breakfast was lovely - buffet with plenty on offer.

Windows in my room were dirty-but on only the outside and it has been dry for a long time so that probably accounts for it.

    8IanPosted on: 4-11-2025

Comfortable room. Bar meals available. Plenty of parking.

    8JeffPosted on: 4-8-2025

Pleased that they provided a continental breakfast from 5:30 on a Sunday morning.

Location was a little further from the town centre than I thought. Short taxi ride rather than walking.
