- Nice old times feeling as a country gentleman
- Excellent large clean room, bathroom with a great shower. very comfortable bed, good views across countryside. Great full English breakfast!
- The location was very quiet and peaceful
Cons -
- Everything is far away - need to go to Battle for dinner
- Minor thing. With the size of the room and the distance from the bed to the TV, could do with a larger TV as difficult to see the picture clearly from where positioned.
- A very personal opinion…….we normally have baths. I can cope with a shower that has a hose to take off the wall. I could not cope with the rain shower head and did not have a shower cap. We normally stay at the Brickwall hotel in Sedlescombe which very sadly has closed. That is why we tried the Claverton. I’m not sure we’ll return.

Warm and comfortable good size room with powerful shower
Needs a little tidy here and there leak in shower looks like it’s been there a while and a few cracks in paint
Garden, the room, the staff
We had ants in room 11Place smaller than seems in photos, cramped in dining room.
I travelled for work. The location is excellent with plenty of free onsite parking. The place looked loved and well looked after. The room I stayed was immaculate. The onsite restaurant serves lovely meals at reasonable prices. Breakfast was great with plenty of options to chose from. I've booked to go back again in March!
Everything was perfect. Would have been nice to have earl grey and herbal teas in the room.
We were only there one night to visit friends nearby but the room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a great variety to choose from. There was plenty of parking available, and the hotel was lovely and quiet, making for a very relaxing stay.
The Staff, The Room and the Food was excellent. We stayed New Years Eve and have never felt such a genuine welcome from everyone. We were invited to join them in their function room to celebrate in the New Year and were joined by Local residents and their families as well as other quests. Mainly for families to be able to take their children to an event….it didn’t bother me us at all as everyone was so friendly. We met the owner Kerry and his son and his family and we came away feeling we had known them for ages. Highly recommend Thank you Jon and Maggie
Nothing-
Nice breakfast with good service and plenty of choice
We have been a few times - so elegant and staff very polite & helpful. Plus set in lovely grounds.
The hotel was lovely. Nice views of the grounds from our window. The staff were exceptional. Friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here. Also, the food was great. We ate the 2 evenings that we stayed. Breakfast was very yummy.
I wish we could've stayed longer.
Hello . The Staff were very friendly and polite ✓ nice clean room. Ample car park spaces . What topped it for me was a full English breakfast. Very fresh well cooked and great Cereal choice . . waitress nice and polite.. thank you Paul Kim. ?
Slightest. Thing. prefer a softer mattress. But probably would suit other people . So not really a negative for other people.

Very comfortable, friendly Team, very nice room, tasty food
I have stayed here before and it is perfect when travelling for work. Quiet, comfortable, clean and good food. 10/10
,Comfortable room, very clean. Breakfast was good, and a good choice of dishes for dinner, which were excellent.I accidently left a jumper behind, and they dealt with it swiftly and efficiently.
The bedroom was too hot in the evening, but a fan was provided.
Amazing rooms, lovely views , especially liked the residents lounge/ bar . Very quaint. Staff were all friendly , food fantastic
Great room, very quiet, will stay again.
A very silver grey clientele dominates, no decent whisky.
Room was nice and the breakfast was superb. Lovely view over the pretty gardens. We had a meal in the restaurant one evening and this was very good. There was plenty of parking.
The room could do with a bit of updating and the four poster bed creaked a bit. Shower didn't come out very well.
The Hotel was perfect for our trip, check in was very easy and the room very nice. Everyone at the hotel seemed very relaxed and welcoming and the breakfast was very good.
