Royal Hotel

Staff was incredibly helpful and attentive when we made extra requests of them.

That we couldn't stay another night.

Hotel was very comfortable all areas were clean and tidy,staff were very good and helpful,good fresh cooked breakfast inthe morning set us up for the day Prices reflected good value for money Will definitely stay again as I visit Cumnock quite regularly

Reception area for booking in is not very efficient or private.We were told there was a 24 hour reception but on our first night we got back in just after midnight the reception area/restaurant was locked up and no one around to enquire about a query we had

Bed was too small - the hotel was too hot everywhere and our bathroom door wouldn’t close

The staff are so friendly and helpful, lovely atmosphere. Huge comfy bed

The hearing broke and couldn’t be fixed during my stay - but staff immediately provided electric heaters The rooms are looking a little dated but still comfortable

Has parking facilities, well appointed rooms, restaurant & bar.

Can be noisy, as right in centre of town & bar open until after 12mnight.

Good food, excellent service and staff, the room very good.

Friendly staff, comfortable bed and lovely room. We had a meal in evening which was fabulous and breakfast included with room, and lovely.

Food and staff were wonderful

Room only had shower over bath and there was 2 flights of stairs after lift to carry suitcase and I am a lady of 82 with walking stick just had knee replacement Asked. immediately could I move but had to wait 2 days before able to have a shower that was acessable

Room access

This hotel was great for our large group- we had three rooms for 6 adults and 5 children. Rooms were very spacious- exceeded expectations. All of our rooms where located next to each other as requested- which really helped as we had young children. The staff were lovely- breakfast was fantastic. Would love to have tried the restaurant for lunch/evening meal (unfortunately we only spent the one night as we were in New Cummnock for a wedding.) Rooms were clean. Definitely would return to this hotel and recommend to friends.

Only thing I could recommend I would like differently was perhaps the temperature- rooms/hallways were extremely warm- making it a little uncomfortable at some points to sleep. I mostly feel cold so this was unusual for me to feel too warm. Didn't put me off enough though that I wouldn't stay again.

The food and room were excellent.We were there to visit Dumfries House, which was very close.

Everything was good, there is not a great deal in Cumnock but handy for Dumfries House, Boswell House was also a great find and Bill Shankly memorial

Modern, but homely. Room comfortable and good size en-suite had the most commodious walk in shower that I’ve ever seen ( could hold a party in)With shower and separate spray .

The dinner very reasonably priced was magnificent in its quality and portions. Possibly the best eating experience ever !

The room is outdated and needs a good clean. Double glazed windows would be great also, as street noises disturb sleep. Mattress on the additional bed was well used. The hotel's carpet on a staircase saw a better day.

The room

Evening meal service was slow and my curry was dry and seemed to have been sitting under a hot lamp for a while. Breakfast was also poor.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was lovely. The room was adequate for what we needed.

Unfortunately in one of the rooms someone was smoking let’s say a strong smelling herb which was so strong it came right through the corridors and into our room. We had our 8 year old granddaughter with us so it wasn’t acceptable. There were cleaning staff in the corridors who didn’t seem to be phased by the smell so my assumption was it’s the norm. As we were just staying for one night and were out most of the night we didn’t want to cause a fuss but it was still there in the morning.

It’s comfortable and the staff go out of their way to make guests stay a good one.

The decor is a little dated and could do with an update
