    Pros +

    • Tidy clean. Yea coffee making facilities.
    • Great location and off road parking although the road is loose stone and very bumpy but ok. The price was very reasonable and it was very clean everything works. Very quiet at night.
    • Lovely, decent size room. Had a welcome gift for our dog in the room which she loved + extra blanket and water bowl. Has a small closed area for dogs to run around freely which was perfect for our dog.Delicious Breakfast.

    Cons -

    • TV NOT GOOD. SHOWER VERY POOR.
    • I think it would be cold in winter, perfect for a summer stay.
    • Just take some slippers or fluffy socks as the floor isn't carpeted so a little chilly on your feet if you wake up in the night for a midnight pee ?

Judy was extremely helpful, allowing us to check in early for a wedding and having the room ready and clean. The Royal Oak was close to the venue, comfortable and with beautiful surroundings.Thank you for our stay!

The accommodation isn't glamorous but it's a really good base within the pub grounds. There's plenty of parking and fantastic views from the pub garden. It's a beautiful area with lots of animals around to adore. The pub itself is nice and there are also other local pubs that do food that's good too. We had a lovely time there (albeit 1 night). We visited Castle Drogo on the way there.

Just take some slippers or fluffy socks as the floor isn't carpeted so a little chilly on your feet if you wake up in the night for a midnight pee ?

Proper old fashioned authentic pub. No airs and graces just good basic but clean accommodation, tasty food offering great facilities for both us and our dog.

Delightful old pub with character and a welcoming couple running it. We had an elderly lady with us who they were very helpful with and our dog who was catered for in every way.

Lovely reception received upon arrival. Restaurant was due to close when we got there however, they cooked for us.

    Couldn't fault it.

The location was beautiful, peaceful and rural. The owner Judy was very friendly, accommodating and approachable. The room was pleasant and bed linen was fresh and clean. There was complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and toiletries and the towels were fluffy and white. The parking was plentiful and easy to access. We had an evening meal in the pub itself which was absolutely delicious and the portion size was very generous. It was definitely value for money and will definitely be returning.

Although we found almost everything was perfect, I think the only slight niggle was the cleanliness of the shower. There were black marks around the shower base and the shower head needed a bit of a clean. Also I thought there needed to be some additional power points or extensions as we had to unplug the heater to use the kettle.

Quirky room and friendly owner. Decent grub.

We chose this stay purely on price and rating, and to break up a long journey specifically close to Exeter.Dunsford is a lovely little village, and the Royal Oak is at the heart of it. I’d say ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ - the room is basic, but it was clean. The beds were comfy and quality bedding and towels. Judy and Mark were excellent hosts, and the steaks Mark cooked for our evening meal were fantastic. Nice pub to sit in for a few hours and we enjoyed chatting to Mark, Judy and a couple of the locals. We have a dog and they were really dog friendly with a little welcome pack for our pup in the room.Judy recommended a lovely walk which our pup enjoyed.

Nothing - it’s just a shame the pub wasn’t busier as the hosts deserve it to be.

It was exactly where I wanted to go. It was a pub/ b&b, so there was food (no shops in village). The owners were friendly. The shower was excellent. The courtyard setup was fun.

The wifi and television didn’t work. Wifi worked in the pub, though.

What a gem. Initially I was a bit disappointed with the room, the bathroom was freezing and only a small electric heater in the main room. If I hadn't been soaking wet from walking the dogs beforehand this would have been no problem! I just needed to dry my clothes. I then found out what I thought was an extractor fan in the bathroom was also a fan heater, toasty bathroom after that! Nowhere to dry the towels, but if you are staying for more than one night the owners give you extras. Its very dog friendly and the breakfast was substantial and good value. The pub opens at 18.30 and does a good selection of 'pub grub' also very good value, much cheaper than average, good portions, the beer selection also very cheap. Another lovely touch was as I arrived on a Monday and the pub is closed mondays, I was still offered an evening meal. The owners are just so accommodating. I'll definitely stay again next time I'm in the area.

Excellent value for basic but clean rooms in a lovely little village in Devon countryside. Judy (host) really welcoming and dinner was great value too in the pub

Optional cooked breakfast was very deep fried (but coffee, toast, yoghurt, fruit also provided).

A comfortable local pub. We had a good wholesome evening meal by the wood burner. A lovely breakfast.

There was a slight mix up about our booking so our bedroom was not warmed up fully.

Quaint village. Excellent value for money. Friendy staff. An amazing breakfast

Wonderfully quite, great welcome from friendly owner. Good stopover on the way to Cornwall. Enjoyed our meal in the pub. The room was basic, clean, and warm despite very cold weather.

Located in the centre of a lovely Devon village, in a row of rooms behind the pub. Bed was confortable and all the facilities in the room worked as expected. Breakfast and evening meal were all home cooked and excellent quality. Friendly staff too.
