Pros +
- Overall this was a good, but not 5 star, trip for 4 nights. The reception staff were welcoming and always helpful. The room was good, spacious and had a sofa, shower was good, bed comfortable and a door direct to the garden was great as we had our dog with us. Location was good, well off the beaten track. Swimming Pool and other leisure facilities were good, again not 5 star but for a family with kiddies definitely much more than adequate. Moonfleet Manor certainly achieves its objective for being a family Hotel. Shame the weather was really bad during our visit so we didn't get a chance to explore the locality much.
- We were shown to our room and offered help with luggage, which was a nice touch. Went for a swim in the inside pool which was warm and clean. Ate dinner in the restaurant, service and food was good but we thought the food was a bit overpriced. Breakfast was good and our waitress enhanced the vegetarian full English offer with a couple of hash browns which was so nice of them! Room was nice, everything was good :)
- Breakfast is a lovely selection, we also had the afternoon tea too which was wonderful. The staff are all super friendly and welcoming
Cons -
- The approach road is diabolical! Narrow lane but full of potholes and we're lucky we didn't end up with a puncture or worse. We had forewarned the Hotel of food allergies so were disappointed with the dinner menu. Even with no allergies it was a limited choice and the same each day so pretty boring after the 3rd day. Unfortunately, like too many Hotels & Restaurants, 'chefs' don't seem to be imaginative around alternative options for people with allergies. You can have the "x' but we'll just leave off the "y' to make it 'OK' - not ideal..
- It would have been nice if the receptionist told us that we needed a pound coin for the lockers at the swimming pool. We were going to go out in the evening but the single track unlit road to the hotel was so full of potholes that we feared we might damage our car in the dark so we opted for the restaurant and had to pay their expensive prices.Would have been nice to been able to watch our Netflix account in our room, but this option was not available
- Restaurant 30% overpriced

Location, lounges, facilities
Restaurant 30% overpriced
Facilities for children were very good. Staff were lovely.
Cleanliness of rooms and communal areas was not good. Cobwebs on bedside table, floor under beds not hoovered. Public areas/shelves/ornaments not dusted. Decor tired. Food was very expensive and well below expected quality. Burger was tough, dry and small. Used crockery etc sat on empty tables for a long time. Breakfast was good. The mini fridge wasn't turned on so contents (including fresh milk) were at room temperature. Remote for the TV was missing.

The power is tired and run down - v good for families that don’t care about decor and just want kids activities
A beautiful hotel in a stunning location with so much on offer for kids of all ages and roaring fires to sup a cocktail by for the adults too. Great food, lovely staff and comfy beds!
Great breakfast and loved a quiet supper in my room.Nice to park outside the door with blue badge.Staff most helpful when I left sponge bag behind
Nothing to add
The hotel and rooms were lovely. The restaurant was excellent quality and it was great to have varied and healthy options for children. There is so much here for children to do (both in the hotel and around the local area) and it was the most fun our toddler has ever had on holiday.
We wish there was an on-site gym.
The view from the room ( Horsey ) was lovely, There was plenty to do at the location.
The pillows seem to go very flat, which did not help to benefit a good night sleep
The hotel was great for a family holiday with little ones to the smallest detail. Staff were great. The lounge areas with fireplace a bonus quite cozy. Even witg terrible weather there was plenty to keep little ones entertained.
All was great
Interior of the building with various lounges was good. Spa treatment was great. Restaurant was good for food although a little ambiance could be improved.
Pool facilities were a bit basic. Pool itself was nice albeit a little small. Very few loungers.
Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Evening meal menu was a bit restricted (we would have liked more choice) but the food was good. Helpful and friendly staff.
No improvements wanted as far as we were concerned.
Location, décor, facilities. Friendly staff. Amazing options for games and activities for the kids (and adults). Super comfy rooms. Very clean. Lovely breakfast buffet.
Minor: I would have liked a bit more seasoning in their cooked food.
Amazing from start to finish.Friendly welcome on arrival, shown around the hotel which was really helpful.Breakfast is fantastic, nothing is too much trouble, the staff are fantastic. The whole place is geared towards families with children of all ages, cinema time with free milk and cookies is a nice touch. The facilities are fantastic, met loads of other families enjoying special time together. We will definitely go back, highly recommend for a luxury family break.
Lovely view. Nice room. Very large bed. Children looked after really well. Staff very attentive.
The room next to mine had their fan running all night. The wall was so thin that it vibrated and the noise kept me awake every night.
Nyla and I loved our time at Moonfleet Manor! The pool and games room were definite highlights — we spent hours enjoying both. All of the staff were so lovely and helpful, making us feel really welcome throughout our stay. A wonderful family-friendly place that we can’t wait to visit again.
If I had to mention one small area for improvement, it would be the cleaning — a little more attention to detail would have made everything feel as spotless as the rest of the experience.
I was a solo traveler and booked this hotel, purely as the bedrooms look nice clean and comfortable. And they were exactly that I could also see that it’s a tremendous place to stay. Should you have children and all dogs. I would certainly stay there again.
I was in a sports car and the road to the hotel is a tad bumpy, but that’s been very fussy
Loved the facilities, a pool, play barn and restaurant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming for children. Extra steps were taken to make children feel at home, comfortable high chairs, place cards at dinner with their names on, children’s cutlery and bowls etc.
We loved our first trip to Dorset as a family. We received a complimentary upgrade to our room which was lovely, the room was on the ground floor in the reception and that would have been the only thing that we would’ve changed. It was quite loud due to people talking outside our room and upstairs noise. But other than that, we loved it!
Staff were excellent - Room was lovely (couldn't be faulted) Swimming pool was lovely too.Very attractive lounge areas and dining room.
A few niggles (as you asked!) We went over to the pool with costumes and code but hadn't been told that you needed a pound coin to lock the locker - luckily my friend had her purse with her - it would have been rather annoying to have had to traipse back to our rooms for the coins. The loo roll holder was dreadful as the I kept knocking it off the end!Food choice for dinner wasn't enough really - we thought it expensive .As adults we would have liked a bar lounge .
