Pros +
- Honestly I struggle to find things I liked aside for the location. It's close enough to "downtown" Dorchester that we can get food easily, there's a Sainsbury nearby, and it was close to where we needed to get to.
- Lovely lady welcomed us great location for walking into town Great value Room had everything you need
- The manager lived on premises and was exceedingly helpful
Cons -
- Unfortunately Sydney Arms fell below expectations. For starters a few things looked like they were falling apart (e.g. the shelf in the bathroom looked like it could fall at any moment). In the bathroom there was mold on the window, the towels they provided us with smelled (probably of mold?), and the shower was barely warm enough. There were instructions for how to connect to the WiFi but we couldn't find the network. There was a TV but since there was no WiFi we couldn't actually use it. The room itself was also fairly cold. Probably wouldn't stay there again.
- Very loud karaoke night (obviously I should've thought this as it's above a pub) The TV/internet didn't work well when pub was busy Very hot and strong smell of paint
- The weather.....too hot and no AC but they gave me a fan

The Sydney Arms is a charming place to stop by... The staff is super nice and friendly ..great kudos to Jack and the hostess. You feel welcomed and so much at ease.
Rooms were cozy and pub below is great.
They do not give breakfast.
Friendly and attentive manager, old building but room clean and with all usual facilities. Bank holiday weekend so very good value as most other places, big chains in particular, wanted double the amount. Manager warned it was karaoke night but not too bad anyway and all quiet after midnight. Did not eat there so can't comment on food but was offered the option for evening meal in pub or even in room. Not too far from Dorchester West station so good location. Dorchester South station a bit further on.
Spacious, very light and super clean ensuite room. Really helpful and kind pub manager was really interested in whether I found the place ok or not. Only thing I had not taken into account was the noise levels on the Friday/Saturday nights as an old building with no sound proofing. However, it did not spoil my stay.
Noise from pub below on the Friday and Saturday nights. Didn't occur to me before I booked. Meant that I went to bed a lot later than I really wanted although I slept really well. Another time I'd take ear plugs
Cosy, Small Rooms
Rooms were too small. Kettle was not clean.
Comfortable bed.
Very noisy room above the bar and the road outside was noisy also. Also lots of cobwebs.
Fantastic staff, the manager Danielle made our stay. She was bubbly, made us feel welcome, was attentive and ensured that we had a great time.
Staff were good at there job a d the room was clean anf bed very comfy helped with my needs during my stay as had complications getting there thanks to paddy
Good location. Made to feel very welcome.
Meeting the manager who had just taken over, she said there is some work to be done. So yes, definitely needs a tidy up. But other than that everything is all good
The Location is great and the staff were extremely friendly.
There was no shower gel or shampoo. Not really an issue per say... I just hadn't packed any so I was lucky my travel buddy was prepared.
nice room tidy clean comfortable just what you need, good position and car park close by.
Good sized room, perfect for a short stay, with ensuite bathroom, seperate entrance. Despite being on a main road, the hotel was quiet. No noise from the pub below either
Comfy bed
Despite the checkout time being 11 am we had to leave before 8 as that's when the free parking ran out. No reception at that time of the morning everything was locked up so we had to leave the key by the back door
Very convenient to walk to the TA Hall for a party just round the corner.
Room was boiling hot. No air conditioning and It was very hot weather, but if the curtains had been drawn preventing the sun shining in it might have been cooler.Booking.com indicates there is parking on site. There is not!
Ideal for the county show
No parking but car park quite closed &free over night
We had two rooms over the front of the pub. They were lovely and clean as were the en suite bathrooms. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the noise - we hadn’t anticipated karaoke going on until midnight. The noise from people shouting while leaving afterwards and the general road noise did keep us awake until the early hours.
The staff were very friendly and the room itself was clean, towels and bedding was fresh and clean, the stairway leading to the rooms would benefit a freshen up. it was a good location for the town centre. It has a nice, friendly atmosphere.
The extras, like a glass in the bathroom, some of the furniture was very tired and needed a freshen up, it would have been nice to have fresh milk, tea and clean cups for the second day, there was no WiFi and the t.v was dated,
