    Pros +

    • 3course lunch was lovely, pakora chicken and veg cooked fresh, bhoona and South Indian lovely chicken soft and cooked to perfection.
    • Hotel is well situated near center of village and fine for a stopover or short stay. For the price it was reasonable value considering how expensive Scottish hotels generally are. Staff were all very pleasant. My single room was surprisingly good and better than other reviews had led me to expect. It was clean, warm, well lit and a decent size with a very effective radiator, TV, kettle and coffee/tea provided. Comfortable bed with clean sheets. Shower room was a bit cramped but adequate. Clean towels and toiletries provided. The restaurant has an Indian chef so I went for the chicken korma, rice and naan bread - this was all excellent and a fair price. I didn't pay extra for the breakfast so can't comment on that. Strong wifi in all areas. Large free carpark. Chippy, shops and cafe across the road
    • Good location. Good value for money.

    Cons -

    • Hottub times could be allocated on a first come first serve to allow solo guest time slots.
    • The corridor areas were dated with a strange engine oil smell and tatty carpets. Fortunately my room had no such problems. The restaurant/bar is way too bright, functional and soulless even by rural Scottish pub standards. With a theatrical stage it felt more like a wedding venue than a comfortable inn. No cask beer
    • Lift still not working.

Staff were friendly and very helpful; the room was comfortable and good value. The bar was good value and got lively on Saturday night. Great base for walking some of the local hills.

The fabric of the hotel has seen better days; the lift didn't work, there were unsightly stains from water leaks on the walls, the carpets were old. The place needs renovating and modernizing.

    Poor experience

The room was very warm and had a fan type loud noise constantly very hard to sleep as so loud floor and bed was shaking ? Not sure if room is next to some sort of generator or fan but very loud

I would not recommend this hotel, no matter the price.

We didn't have any towels in our bathroom. The dining room was closed (not on their website). And no elevator. We asked for an extra blanket when we checked in, and I had to go down to the front desk to remind them after about 20 minutes. And someone stood outside our room late at night (the floor right in front of our door creaked badly), which made for an uncomfortable stay.

Hot showers! Front desk guy was helpful to find parking.

booking.com listing said continental breakfast was included...nope. 10quid error. Not happy.

The staff are really good, friendly, helpful , professional and generally accommodating. Location is beautiful. TV worked and was good. Bathroom was okay. It’s dog friendly for a fee and they can go in the bar too (not restaurant).

There wasn’t many vegetarian/vegan options on menu. The hotel decor is very dated and the stairs and carpets upstairs need a really good clean. I caught my heel on a loose part of the stair and almost fell down. The lift doesn’t work. It needs maintenance and If they could do that and update a bit it would be lovely especially in the location and with the staff. I wouldn’t pay anymore than I did for it as it stands but it would be a really desirable place if they put money into it. I do worry about health and safety too.

    Worst Hotel ever stayed in...

Copy of email sent to raise a formal complaintDear Sir or Madam,I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding our current stay at the Loch Long Hotel, Room 45, 27/12/25 which has been wholly unacceptable and has caused significant distress.Upon arrival, the hotel environment was peaceful and consistent with the quiet setting normally associated with Arrochar. However, this changed dramatically later in the evening following the arrival of two coach loads of guests. The hotel has since been turned into what can only be described as a party venue, with extremely loud music and persistent door banging. The level of noise is entirely unreasonable and has made sleep impossible. The music had been thudding continuously and was still ongoing well beyond the time advised by reception. When I contacted reception to ask about the time music stopped I was explicitly told that the music would cease at 11:00 pm; however, this has not occurred. The continued noise was unacceptable and I had to physically go down to reception to get the loud music stopped.Of particular concern is the fact that this excessive noise has aggravated a serious medical condition from which I suffer, namely hemiplegic migraine. The disturbance has directly triggered symptoms, causing significant discomfort and distress. I did not get any sleepIn addition to the noise issues, our dining experience this evening was extremely poor. Multiple items ordered from the menu were unavailable, resulting in us having to change our selection twice, for both main courses and desserts. This reflects very poorly on the hotel’s organisation and service standards.Furthermore, the condition of the room is wholly unsatisfactory and raises serious health and safety concerns. The bathroom door is hanging off its hinges, drawer handles are missing, and the windows and bathroom ceiling are affected by extensive black mould. I have photographic evidence of all these issues.

    Horrendous

The noise due to a wedding party still going on at 1am, the mould on the windows, the food we wanted wasnt available and wehad to eat in the bar

    Beautiful location

Hotel was dirty. Toilet didn't flush properly. Shower leaked all over the floor.

Food was good and staff friendly

Hotel is very run down. Floors very creaky outside rooms, rooms very dated and mattress uncomfortable. Bathroom and shower very dated.

    Location food was good

Noise from room next door partying till 5am, was probably 1 off not hotel fault as been here many times

Staff were very friendly & helpful, really couldn’t fault them.

While the bedding was clean, I really couldn’t rate anything else in the room which hadn’t had a thorough clean in a long long time! Everything was shabby & tired, the (double glazed!) windows were leaking & draughty, ill-fitting curtains blowing in the draught. Breakfast was a buffet of the cheapest offerings I’ve ever seen! This was literally a port in a storm for us, when we should have been wild camping on the West Highland Way, so to be fair, it was cheap & at least we had a roof over our heads.

    3CharlesPosted on: 12-8-2025

They upgraded my room for free. The staff were nice.

I was put in a tiny corner room. I'm 6ft 2, my knees were in the shower while on the toilet. Totally cramped. They kindly upgraded my room to a bigger room. However, this room had a stain on the sheets. A drawer handle missing, and a hinge off of the cupboard. Going down for a meal was confusing When I asked where menu's were I was told to find one on a table, and after searching I found one by itself on a random table in the corner. There were 3 different menus inside of the booklet, two of which had overlapping times. There was only two FOH staff members on, the Receptionist and the Bartender, so it was up to the bartender to pour drinks and run food, while also taking food orders because the poor receptionist was desperately trying to clean up the mess created by the two heavy leaks coming through the roof. After coming back late one night, the car park was absolutely full. I barely managed to squeeze my car onto the on-ramp to the car park (where many others had to park), where my bumper was just passed the line to the main road.

Good location. Staff I dealt with were pleasant and willing to help. Room was generally clean and tidy.

Mould present in rooms. Asked to be moved and there was mould in the second room. Asked for the staff on the desk to confirm that the tap water in the room was suitable to drink (to prepare a baby’s bottle). He said yes but I should also boil it first…which never filled me with hope. We ended up leaving without staying due to the uncertainty around the water. Family rooms are all upstairs and there is no lift - difficult with a baby. Rooms are up and down various flights of stairs so getting luggage up is difficult.

The meals are lovely freshly made very friendly staff helpful the views are amazing

    4RichardPosted on: 11-16-2025

Great location, although beware the aggressively priced and policed nearby car park.

Limited parking, need to drive to get decent food, lift broken (see other reviews), we (unplanned) arrived on a country music night which made it an… interesting experience, not in the best condition, 19” TV.
